I still see CES post on FB from time to time. I miss the guys from the smokeless thread like olderthandirt and twistedvictor. They were a big help to me when I was struggling to quit.

yeah, I forgot all about olderthandirt.... My memory sucks... I think I am now getting older than dirt LOL

Good morning. Yes things have changed a lot over the years. Not only people but hardware. I can’t imagine going back to 510 cigalikes and constantly filling cartridges with foam filling.

Geez, my memory sure has gotten poor as I don't recall any foam (fill me in on that).... I do recall the cigalikes where I would throw away the fake looking filter when it was empty and screw on a fresh one. They looked just like a real filtered cigarette and they were HORRIBLE LOL..... I think the ones I used were 24mg nic and about blew my head off LOL... Plus, they produced very little vapor. Not even as much vapor as a real cigarette.

Those were probably cartomizers. Before there were cartomizers, there were the 510 cigalikes that had plastic tips that had foam or some type of filler in them where you saturated the filler and it rested against the bridge of the atomizer. That was around 2009.

Yes, people were trying all different kinds of materials and tricks to get those old cartridges to work better. Some people were using tea bag material and others were using aquarium foam from pet stores. I got to the point where I built simple box mods out of battery boxes with switches. I'd tear the connector out of a 510 battery and epoxy it into the box. That was before you could buy 510 connectors.

You wanted a cigarette badly LOL ........ All kidding aside, sounds like you invented the box mod before there were any..... That's an awesome story.

I wasn’t the first. I remember people making them using rca connectors since they didn’t have 510 connections. Also some were making them using Altoids boxes.

In the past, I had heard that somebody had made them out of all-turd (altoid) tins but at the time I never paid much attention......... Speaking of innovation, some time back @DPLongo22 sent me a funny link to a hand crafted vape mod. I thought I was going to die laughing. The video is not too funny but rather it was the comments posted below that were hilarious LOL..... Read the comments. Hope the person on the video fogives me for sharing but when I read the comments about having to recharge i could not contain the laughter LOL.
