Well I have just purchased my first mech and RDA/RTA. A polished brass nemesis clone, black russian 91 clone and a black zenith v2 clone from a local B&M which leads to my question... So i've been doing research on 18650 batteries for it and it seems to be that sony VTC5 are the bees knees. Well after buying my mech I went to my favorite juice shop (vapeandco) and asked about them and he informed me (very surely I might add) that sony VTC5 batteries have been discontinued! Confirmed by his supplier he says. So I then called this old vape shop, another local B&M and they told me the same thing...So I used some of my black belt google-fu and after tons of research and one pretty convincing video by *pegasaus?* something or other on youtube, who says that SONY themselves have NEVER even made the 18650 vtc5 battery. His research and findings seemed pretty conclusive and I also haven't been able to find any proof that sony, the company, even makes the 18650 vtc5 battery... I also see countless counterfeit vtc5 batteriess and I've read all the fake vs real vtc5 articles and yes there are differences but one thing remains. How do we know that SONY does in fact even make THE vtc5 battery and not some other chinese/japanese company and labeling them as a true sony product. All I want is a SAFE, PROVEN AUTHENTIC battery that I can get in to sub ohm vaping and have decent battery life. Suggestions/comments please? Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Thanks for the link. After reading more articles about this topic it seems this whole sony vtc5 thing is just a dark endless hole and basically sony may or may not have ever produced them and if they did they're not telling people due to non intended personal sales or they stopped making them 6 years ago etc... Im still confused on why my local B&M say they have been discontinued... Have vtc5 batteries from RTD (recently) been proved to be authentic? They are in stock right now on their site. What other batteries are PROVEN performers from RTD for mild sub ohm builds? I hear good and bad about efest purple, whats the deal with those?

The purple Efest 18650 2500 mAh are LG cells with a 20 amp continuous rating, stay within 20 amps and they are fine.

I believe Baditude (or someone else, forgive me if I'm wrong) has a list of 4 very reputable vendors for as-authentic-as-they-get-whatever-that-means Sony batteries, and RTD is on that list.
WHERE TO GET BATTERIES
Just my standard FYI battery post! How to Spot Fake Sony Batteries

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are a few reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics
* RTD Vapor

Could you provide this link? I Just order some batteries from Illumn.com and Orbitronic.com but I found them through my black belt in google-fu. Would like some confirmation and some more places for batteries. Thanks !!
