So I just got my much anticipated Hobo v2.1 clone from 88evape (first time dealing with them) and I'm having some concerns.

Since this is a clone, and I don't know who the manufacturer is nor do I have experience with the authentic, I'm hoping some Hobo owners can shine some light here.

It came in a round silver tin with extra o rings and the tiny little Allen key and the COPPER split center post. I thought the 2.1 version had a SS post. And there were pieces of the black insulator that were sticking out that I had to trim off. I don't even know what this stuff is made of.

Anyway, my first build on it was a 26 gauge macro dual coil build at 0.35 ohms: burned parts of the insulator on both sides.

I ripped that out and put a 7 wrap 26 Guage dual coil build around a 2 mm screwdriver that came out to about 0.3 ohms, taking more care to pull the coils away from the insulator (though I was already aware of this issue and thought I had them far away enough with the first build).

It is working ok now I guess but my concerns/questions are:

1) is the insulator supposed to burn this easily and is it OK if I continue to vape on it if I no longer burn any more of it?
2) is the SS center post the only difference between the version 1 and 2.1 (what was even the version 2.0??)
3) the top cap comes on and off way too easily. Is this the same with the authentic or do I have really ....ty o rings on this clone?

1) from my understanding yes, if it's no longer burning. this was a known issue with the insulator thats why i recommended to you in the other thread you build your coil with one leg going over, versus the traditional under method. that way the leg is a bit higher up than the insulator which will hopefully be less prone to melting. be careful to not pull it too far out as then it will short if it touches the part where you screw on onto the deck.

2) mine is ss

3) mine is tight. you can try adding dental floss underneath the o ring to add some thickness to it. or you can try to source another o ring at your local hardware store.

good luck

Yeah I actually did pull the coils out on my first build because I was aware of the issue and it still melted. I think I just got a really bad clone. I'm going to try to get a refund. Already ordered a new one from Hcigar lol. Hope this one is good since hcigar is known to be a reputable cloner.

Yeah mine came in that circular tin as well, without additional top caps. But everything else works fine. Going to order more from the Smog GB on Reddit once they get their Cigreen Megabuy going.. and I might give the gf my burnt one and take the new one lol.

Your hobo burnt too?
