I had a twisted tip once... it was really pretty but it broke in about a week! I heard other users say they had problems with them breaking as well so I never ordered another one. That was probably 7 months ago or more... I wonder if they've improved since then? I wouldn't mind having some - they are really cool looking.

That's what I had heard about the Ming's as well...but I went ahead and took the chance and I haven't had any problems with them at all. My son uses one of the twisted tips (the $3, longer ones) and his is just fine so far. I have one on one of my attys and it's fine as well. I'm guessing that if you drop one, it might be more fragile than others, therefore, will break easier maybe?

Just looked and they have a couple that I bet would match the purpleheart nicely. Hmmm.

The one I had that broke was the $6 twisted tip. I pulled it out of my atty and it just broke off at the base leaving the o ring and bottom plastic bit in the atty. I didn't even pull very hard on it!

I imagine everything improves though over time and I have not tried the $3 ones.

Pchela...I would have to agree with the shorter ones having the breakage problem because of the material that they are made of. I have ONE of those and I don't care for it. Feels like they are made of a clay material and the feel on my lips is just YUCKY, LOL. The longer ones look and feel like glass...even tho I don't think they are. I bet I know the one you're looking at. I got the amethyst I think it was, $3 one in hopes that it will match the purpleheart in my Hog. It has more of a pinkish/purple to it right?

EDIT: just looked at my receipt and it is called "Lilac medley"

Yep! Lilac Medley and also check out Red Dragon and Magenta Magma. It's difficult to tell with the last two - they look really dark but might have the purpleish tint to them that would match the purpleheart perfectly. I can't quite tell on those! What do you think?

Which Hog are you getting with purpleheart? Did I miss it?

EDIT - Nevermind! You're getting Canary and Purpleheart! I must have blocked it from my mind so I wouldn't be tempted to steal it! :p

I also have the Red Dragon and Magenta Magma, LMAO. The Red Dragon is a pearly black/maroon color and the Magenta Magma is a black with a small amount of what looks more like a maroon rather than a purple swirl in it (mostly black looking tho). Noooooooo, you didn't miss it....I've got a canarywood with purpleheart caps/inlay on order...don't hit me...we've been down this road already, LOL

I loved my cockatoo (Jo-Jo) he was a real ham! My Jenday (Brat) thought she was a human. The peach conure and blue fronted were both semi-tame and I just couldn't get them to talk or anything. The cockatiels were my moms favorites. We ended up having to find homes for them all when we sold our house and both moved out of state :( Brat ended up going with my aunt who was visiting us from Louisiana. She was just head over heals in love with her and spoiled her rotten.

The cockatoo didn't do too bad him self tho...The couple that bought him got his enormous brass cage (on wheels), loaded with toys and such included...which went into a full bedroom that was made up specifically for the birds (patio doors and a deck made for them as well). They had Macaws of various species and would wheel their cages out onto the deck in the summer time when it was warm enough for them to be out there. The birds had it better than a lot of humans did!!!
