Ok not to much done tonight I'm afraid, work has been keeping me late so not much mod porn. I did get to swing by and grab some marblewood for those whom have requested it.

You kinda have to have more than one. I have one I abuse (I know it's wrong, but I can't help it that I drop stuff!) and one being made that I will be kind to and careful with. I have another one actually...but I'm Paying It Forward to a lovely lady who will be kind to it. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with yet another...I need to hold one of every wood combination to feel complete.

Aww, Mike's Precious! What are the woods?

Its Jatoba(brazilian cherry) with black walnut caps and inlays that have been ummm chemically changed?
Not really dyed or stained but soaked in a solution to react with the oils in the wood then sanded to leave only the deepest penetrations showing black.

The Jotoba is natural

turns walnut pitch black, pretty neat

Makes you wonder how somebody stumbled across that, thats really cool though.

Ok fill me in on this one. What is tea brushing and whats it do to the wood? Brown tint?

it actualy dries almost clear on the wood... a slight tint... but it adds tannic acid to the wood as it dries into the woods... its the acids in the wood that react to the steal brine.....we use to do it to make new woods look old when making repairs...

I can see after I get my VV, I already like some of the others and will be ordering another once I decide if the VV is truely worth more than a 3.7 with a 306 1.5LR Csco spec atty. But I hear and read great things. I so cant hardly wait.

LOL I understand. Which one did you order? I decided on the Tennesee Red Cedar for my first wood mod.

lol I'm getting a purpleheart body with canary wood endcaps and inlay. I already have #11 - Birch body with bocote endcaps. I'm just giving Hog a hard time. He knows I don't mind him taking his time, especially since I have my heart set on ss button & cup and those won't be in for some time yet.
