Ok off work now and heading home to round up some pics of the wood I have on hand for mods then I'll open up requests for a few mods.

I'll see about trying my hand at a 14500 3ml bottle mod this go round.
This will be so much better when I get out to TN and can focus a little more time on mods

:pop: To quote MX.... "Standing Buy".

Can someone here explain to me the difference between high drain and regular batteries? (Without getting all technical and full of electrical engineering gobbly ....) What sort of device would I want to run a high drain battery on? Would it be appropriate to run a high drain 18650 on my hogs? I must know because they are purple and I like purple ... that's the extent of my electrical knowledge so be gentle!

High drain batteries can more easily supply the current draw that lr attys demand. Regular batts are pushed to the limit of their ability with low resistance attys or cartos, and that can cause early battery degradation or failure...

ahhh thanks, mvgratz, that makes sense. So high drain would be better if I'm using a LR atty on my Hog. Yay, I get to use purple batteries :)

Of course without getting technical...VV mods and regulators can help compensate by limiting the maximum voltage or current draw allowed by the mod...

So would you use a high drain on a device that was VV and/or regulated or not? Or is it overkill?

Some vendors say yes, its overkill. Usually the high drain batts don't have quite as long of a "run-time" as the protected same make batts. I personally prefer AW IMR's on my non-vv mods. I don't own a vv atm... VV I would use either protected AW's, AW IMR's, or AW Life-po's/Tenergy Life-po's in... Of course lots of folks have different opinions on batteries...

High drains in a VV isn't overkill if it uses a booster chip. The ProVari uses an AW IMR battery since they produce a better power than normal protected batts. Cleo if I were you I would get the AW IMRs if you are going to go the high drain route. I don't trust any other high drains other than AW.

Basically the trade off between the two batteries is with protected normal batteries you get better battery life but with IMRs they don't taper down in voltage as quick as the normal protected batts do.

IMRs are also protected so you don't have to worry about running an unprotected battery.

LOL...I was JUST starting to do that myself (a comparison)....thanks for saving me some steps Cleo. Was there any significant difference in shipping prices as well?
I did a price comparison before and found Super T to be lowest on AW IMRs ... but with ECF5 giving me 5% off, RTDVapor wins by a couple pennies. Sorry, Mr T -- I just ordered 2 AW IMR 18650s :)
