Don’t fall for the alarmist claims linking coronavirus to vaping
Shameless and fact-free politicization of the coronavirus was sadly inevitable in our hyperpolarized society, but the latest example really is a doozy
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio made the claim at a wildly irresponsible press conference on Monday. In an intentionally provocative article headlined “Does vaping make you more susceptible to coronavirus?” CBS News propagated the dubious connection. Other media outlets such as the Hill and Reuters ran with similarly misleading stories, framing the issue along the lines of, "vaping makes coronavirus worse … says New York City mayor."

The only evidence de Blasio provided is that one 22-year-old man — one person — in NYC who has coronavirus is a vaper. Yes, seriously.

Yes, claims by these alarmist and Puritanisms have reached such absurdity they are obvious even to the uniformed. It is time now to link these dolts closely and irrevocably to their absurd utterances. Three years from now, when DeBlasio, Glantz, TFK, etc. issue another absurd announcement, we want people thinking, "oh yeah, this is the guy who said vaping causes coronavirus and is worse than smoking."

It is time to take the offensive and link these twits irrevocably to their own lies in the collective memories of science, health, and public perception. It is time for a campaign to do so -- the moment is now.

More likely Vaping may help prevent catching it.

THE BACTERICIDAL ACTION OF PROPYLENE GLYCOL VAPOR ON MICROORGANISMS SUSPENDED IN AIR.

It has been found that propylene glycol vapor dispersed into the air of an enclosed space produces a marked and rapid bactericidal effect on microorganisms introduced into such an atmosphere in droplet form. Concentrations of 1 gm. of propylene glycol vapor in two to four million cc. of air produced immediate and complete sterilization of air into which pneumococci, streptococci, staphylococci, H. influenzae, and other microorganisms as well as influenza virus had been sprayed.
