Hi all, new here but have been following the E-cig thing for a while since I knew the smoking bans were going to take over the world. Been doing some research and a lot of reviews point to the GreenSmoke as "The Best" but that looks like a big investment just to find out if I even like the things.

That being said, what is my best bet to duplicate the only cig I ever liked, Marlboro Menthol Light? Is there a sample I can get somewhere, or at the very least a smaller initial investment to see if I even like these things?

Hullo, Roll & welcome....

You might want to spend some more time researching - check out the ECF library which has extensive information to help you.

I've never tried Greensmoke but I can tell you that every vaper has a different opinion about what's best. You have to determine what works for you.

That said, if you're determined to jump right in, you might consider purchasing a 510 'No Box' kit from Cignot for $35.

I'd caution you against trying to 'duplicate' the cig experience - vaping is NOT smoking. For many of us, it's better but still very different.

All's I know is that I haven't had a cigarette in 6 months after being a 2 PAD for 38 years.

Zowie and best of luck!

My total outlay was about $90 by buying my eGo kit from puresmoker.com for 49.99 - they are awesome. Fast shipping (ordered Wed. night, rec'd it the next Monday), and ordered a bunch of sample flavors at vaporbomb.com.

Honestly, I've been vaping a sample from puresmoker anyway. (The cashcap - it's not a tobacco flavor, but a warm coffee/chocolate/vanilla-y caramel flavor.)

My experience in my entire three days of vaping is that I thought I'd want a cigarette flavor, but as it turns out, this flavor is kicking tobacco's tail - I instantly, and I mean instantly quit smoking after my first vape. That's coming from a PAD (almost) Marlboro red smoker, by the way.

I second trying a 510 kit. MyFreedomSmokes has a special on right now including juice for $35 (with a coupon code). You can't go far wrong with that. $35 is less than a weeks worth of cigarettes and if you don't like it I'm pretty sure you could list it in the classifieds section and get at least 1/2 of your money back!

I'd do like portguy suggested just to give it a try. Take a little time (even if you have to smoke too) to see if you like vaping.
Once you've decided you can look into a better model and start trying liquids.
For cost cutting suggestion, visit the social group Pay It Forward and the Modders Thread.

EDIT: Take a look in the classifieds too.

WidowsBeadwork has a 2 pack 510 "disposable" for $23 shipped. Comes with a usb charger to boot so you can get easily a month out of these but you'd need some extra juice to fill up/top off to get there.

Just to give you feel, I purchased 5 packs of 5 801 attys for $120 from TW almost a year ago and I'm still not thru them all and I vape 5-6ml/day. It can be $$$ up front but if you stay with it, the daily $$ is very reasonable.

my two cents is dont go to cheap on ur initial purchase for 2 reasons.

1 a inferior e-cig can discourage and actually push u back to smoking just cause of the hassel of short battery life and constant refilling/cartridge changing.

2. once u get a e-cig and u love it and u have an inferior e-cig ur gonna look for a better one and spend the money anyway so then atleast u would have just spent it once.

and if u dont like the more expensive better e-cig still after u buy it you can still recoop some of your money buy selling it here on the forum.. no one here will buy an inferior product from you so u will just be stuck with it....

just my 2 cents

The Green Smoke is no where near the best. In fact, it flat out sucks, especially for the price. It costs more than my kick ..., hand built mod with custom graphics (The Chuck). Imagine being sold on a Geo Metro when you could have bought a Corvette for the same price and you'll understand my harsh words.

If you want to stay cheap, I'd say go for an eGo. You could go with a 510, but the short battery life and frequent recharging you'll need to do could turn you off to vaping.

Also, I second what readmermaid said about juices and flavors. I smoked Marlboro Menthol Lights too and I ended up not being a big fan of tobacco juices. Johnson Creek Arctic Menthol got me by my first week or so until I got some sampler packs and my DIY mixing stuff. My favorite flavors so far are Cream Soda and a Tropical Punch Bubble Gum that I mix myself. YMMV.

Vapor4life and NHaler both sell KR808D-1 (normal cigarette form factor) items (V4L calls theirs the VaporKing). A single automatic battery, charger, and 5 pack of filled cartomizers runs about $47 list (don't forget to use 10% off -- saveinnj for nhaler, smilin for V4L).

A single KR808-D1 battery lasts a couple of smoking hours between charges (that's why starter kits come with 2 of them).

A prepacked kit, with the two batteries and a PCC runs about $75.

If you like it, then pick up a second battery, a PCC, more cartos, etc.

(there are huge numbers of eGo fans, undoubtedly super products, but the KR808D-1 is nice, too -- in my case I really do like the automatic battery and standard cigarette form factor)

Good luck!

How about the difference between the push button and auto modes?

Using a button seems like even more of a learning curve for me...

I hated the idea of a button at first. I like my auto 510s fine, but now that I have a manual eGo I can see why it works well for people. You get more control with a push button. You hit the button wait a sec then draw. You get an instant vape that way. With an auto, you have to draw for a sec or two just to get it to vape. Also, autos can turn on from loud noise, like traffic. I'd say there is MORE of a learning curve w/ autos rather than manuals.

What does this "$100 kit" contain? Just be wary since there are $200 kits that are no better than $40 kits I've seen. Other than that, there are a lot of good suggestions, and unless you are unable to order things online I'd check them out. Most people switch to manuals eventually after they try them. They quickly become second nature to use and are less prone to malfunction.

I am up in Wausau, the company I bought it from is called beyondsmokes and come to think of it, I believe they do have a website beyondsmokes.com I think...Anyway, I got the basic starter kit which retails for $99.99, I got it for $50.00 + $5 shipping.

It includes 1 complete Luci, a spare battery (both batteries are Lithium Ion) a wall charger, and a 5 pack of cartridges...They also sell other flavors of cartridges but honestly, I would give them a call and see if you can get the $50 price still. So far, I am happy with it and considering most kits are in the same range its not a bad deal.

Their number is 715-571-0411
