ok, so im standing in the local vape shop talking to some random guy and he says hey is that a pro-tank? have you tried the fix that makes the flavor and hit so much better? and I said no, I have only been using it for a few weeks now. he says here let me see, ill show you. and he proceeded to take the wick out and put it back together and said here try it. wow yea it worked. till 10 min later im driving home and my pro-tank is gurgling and spitting stuff in my mouth and just horrible. so we stop at a local mall and are walking around and im talking to my girlfriend who of course doesn't have any cotton balls or anything cotton on her. so I turn to my youngest son who is wearing a pair of jeans with a hole in the knee, I yank off a few pieces of thread and tear my pro-tank down and twist the thread into a wick and.....BAM, no more leaking, no more gurgling, no more nasty juice in my mouth and AMAZING flavor:) so let me here some of your McGyver on the fly throw it together fast fixes.

I wonder if he just added a "flavor wick" to it?

http://www.reddit.com/r/electronic_...tank_remove_1_wickbest_vape_ive_had_in_quite/

It looks like they are pulling some wicks out to "loosen" the coils on the wick
I have had a sneaking suspicion that the coils are being wound too tight on the wicks...not enough juice flow, good for making the "vape cloud" but not so good on helping push more of the flavor juice

gurgling is just the wick getting TOO much flow!

I have heard that taking one little strand out of the protank helps. The attys usually have two little strands, some other brands have one thicker one. All the attys on the protank have flavor wicks, I'll have to experiment
Yeah...my Vivi Nova mini with the thick 3mm wick hits like a freight train, the CE6 I got from China has two thinner ones (2 or 1mm maybe?) and hits "ok" but not great (hits MUCH better after I pulled and tugged and spun the wick to loosen it up inside the coils, but the replacement coils also fit my vivi nova)...my BCC Mega tank (came with my Totally Wicked Tornado RCS) with a thicker wick (and a flavor wick) [I tore one apart to see how hard to rebuild, it rebuilds similar to a kanger...] and it hits very very good

Wow it's coiled up in there, will try this with 2mm sil halved. Waiting for the kanthal, I am anxious to wind my own coils as all the ones I've investigated have been carelessly wound and poor functioning. Will try some cotton for the flav wick also

How thick was the flavor wick? I am having taste/flavor issues with the kanger protank. I have some 2mm silica wick and wondering if I used a bigger flavor wick I might get more flavor and less gurgling as coil area would be full of material

I believe the Kanger heads, T3/MT3/T3S/MT3S/T3Mini/MT3Mini/Evod/Protank, basically all their BCC tanks use 2mm wrapped with coil, and 2 to 3 1mm floating flavor wicks on the top of the coil. The channel is about 3 or 4 mm the wicks sit in, closer to 3mm I am finding. Depending on the PG/VG ratio of a certain liquid I rebuild my heads 3mm single strand wrapped with a coil for 70/30 and thinner, fluffing the ends once the air tube is attached. 50/50 and 60/40 I do a 2mm single strand wrapped with a coil and 2 1mm floating wicks, fluffing the ends again. 40/60 to 30/70 2mm with 1 1mm floater, thicker is single 2mm strand. The T3S/MT3S/Evod/Protank heads are easier to rebuild as the head unscrews from the base, T3/MT3/T3Mini/MT3Mini heads/bases are a bit more of a wrestling match but still doable =). Presently chiefing on my Protank 2 with a 400 SS Mesh wick sheated in xs16 silica, 2 dozen refills, 6 cleanings and dry burns, not one leak or loss of performance no matter the liquid I use.

Have any of you just tried flipping the rubber boot on the coil yet instead of pulling out wicks? It actually works quite well and doesn't lead to flooding. Not to mention, if you don't like it you just flip it back over.

Tried that, find before inserting the base in after a refill or fill up, slightly pull that grommet up just to the point it is barely on the head cup section, then as you seat and screw the base in, the grommet is forced into place as far as it needs to be to seal it up better.

Figured I would mention it. We sell kanger in our shop and make sure we show all the customers what to do before they leave. It's not the end em all fix but for heavy vapers, it helps.

40/60 to 30/70 2mm with 1 1mm floater, thicker is single 2mm strand.

So I use the 2mm silica for the coiling? I have 32 Kanthal and I plan to wrap 4/5 times. Then flavour wick very thin?

I am presently mixing about PG30/VG70, so it is thickish. So I go SMALLER wicking wise for THICKER liquid?

I am yet to try a heavily PG juice, unfortunately i got a bad batch of nic lquid which has slowed down my research.

I have 3mm and 2 mm wick, I was thinking to use the 3 for the coil, but here you say it's better thinner? I am not sure how tight to make the coil
I guess I will examine and old wick. My problem is the Kanger protank bottom coil seems to kill flavor, I am adding pure flavor to existing liquid to up
it to 25% with not effect. My aim is to go 0 nic eventually, but I do enjoy the flavor and vaping.

I live in hot dang Phoenix, so ambient temperature affects viscosity heavily here, that is how I have adapted my builds. With a 30/70 blend you could probably get away with single 3mm silica or ekowool wick. I wrap a 4/5 or 5/6 micro-coil tightly on the wick using a paperclip using 32ga kanthal, gives me an ohm range of 1.6 to 2.4 where I like my resistances, then when the paperclip is removed, loosens the wick up for proper wick flow, wrapping tight straight on the wick alone I have found chokes it down. Just has to be tight enough not much play is in the coil on the wick unless intentionally adjusted with a pick or such, or significantly pulling on the wick and such. Most the time I can, when fluffing the ends of the trimmed wick, get my T3's, my Evods, and my Protanks to not gurgle or flood. The fluffing up covers any gaps and allows the exposed wick to absorb liquid better. As far as flavor being muted, you could try food grade cheese cloth or organic cotton ball material, downside there is if you don't keep the cotton wet and get any dry burns, the cotton is toast and needs change out. Been like stated above experimenting with a SS Mesh wick in silica sheathing, little on the expensive side as far as rebuilds go, the sheathing is there mainly to prevent hotspots, shorts, the need to fully oxidize the SS mesh like in a Genesis Atty, and help with absorption, overall the taste is far better than straight silica or ekowool silica, and handles temp better due to the SS mesh.

Yes, My Protank I didn't use any flavour wick, instead I use 3mm Wick with 1.2Ohms resistance setting, it wape like train and flavour are so reach at 8.1Watts waping and the voltage is at around 3.0v to 3.01v and I can get 2 days of waping prior recharge my eVic samsung 18650.

I use two 1mm silica flavor wicks and put them side by when I rebuild a Protank head. Never tried using a bigger size for the flavor wicks.
