Home testing of e-liquid strength (DIY)

Just wanted to share that I just tested a fresh batch of 100mg/ml PG nic base from RTS's Thanksgiving sale using the original instructions with 1ml of nic base and 4 drops of BTB. Achieved full yellow color change just before 8.2ml total volume, putting nic strength exactly at 100mg. Spot on!

Results of my NIC tests

Using the DIY Nic test kit I purchased online I tested a sample of FSUSA 24mg Honey to make sure I had the procdure down. It tested at 22.5mg - pretty close to what was expected so I tested my 3 bottles of BE 100mg NIC. All 3 bottles came in well below what I expected.

Two of the bottles came in at 74mg - they had the same lot number on the bottle so having the same result seems natural. The 3rd bottle I tested came in at 82mg.

The NIC is a couple of months old could this be why the NIC tested low?

If only a couple months, stored reasonably, iirc there shouldn't be much, if any, breakdown.

Always good to make sure you test one liquid that reads okay, to make sure you aren't calling the color change early. Calibrate the eyes

Two of the bottles were new, never opened and stored in the freezer - had to let them sit out a couple of days to get back to room temp before testing. The other was the one currently in use and it was stored in a nice dark/cool place.

The 2bottles that tested @ 74mg were purchased about 4 months ago and the bottle that tested @ 82mg was purchased about 2 months ago.

I think I'm calling the color change correctly because the sample of juice I tested from FSUSA was close to the expected outcome.
