As I venture deeper into the vaping world, I notice there are people that build their own mods, mechanicals, and what have you.

As far as mechanicals, what goes into one, especially if being made oneself? I keep hearing mention of a 'kick', which appears to be some sort of chip or circuitry that a mechanical would normally lack. What is the purpose? Is it the same sort of circuitry found in, say, a provari or vamo?

I've gathered that a DNA20 mod is essentially the parts that comprise a normal mod that one would purchase from a store, but allows for custom enclosures and battery use.

Aside from being custom, and most likely cheaper, are there other advantages for building your own PV?

I apologize if this is a bit advanced for the New Members Forum, but I thought it would be better than cluttering other forums.

I would like to be that friend to my friends. I also thought it might be cool to make some unique looking enclosures, delivery systems, and such. I've been on a steampunk stint for a while, but I like to thoroughly research things before investing time and money.

From what I gather all you need are these.

1-case
2-510 connector
3-button switch

Would it be best to get some kind of circuitry for protection? I certainly wouldn't want to hand over a small bomb to my friends, especially one they'll be holding up to their face. That does look pretty rad though.

I have frequented vapeporn. Pretty cool stuff there, especially the mods section, though I bet that's what you were implying.

Seems like madvapes is the place to go if I want to get parts for a DIY. Any other sites out there?
