I think the reason there are so many PV's is because there are so many different preferences. I don't think you will get a consensus on what the best solution is because the best solution is going to depend upon a persons needs, expectations, financial commitment and styling preferences.

From what I have read, it is this, in a nutshell. Some people are willing to spend x amount on top of the range kit, other needs are satisfied with cheap stuff that will need replacing. Personally, I think I fall into the latter group. My battery hasn't yet failed in 6 months, and for the cost of a few pints of beer the provari simply can't be compared, I can't justify such an outlay when I'm spending at the very most £30 per year on batteries. There is just no comparison imho.

To put it into context, it'd take me 6 years of 3 batteries per year to make one purchase of a provari. I've been at it 6 months and my original battery is still functioning well.

For me, not worth it.

It's funny how we think in terms of dollars when we shop for mods. Most of us bought a Provari every month when we bought cigarettes. I smoked a carton a week and spent about $150 a month. My Provari has worked flawlessly since last April and I don't plan on having to buy another one for a long time. It's under warranty for two years. Yes, I spent the extra $24.95 and thought that it was money well spent.

For 14 years I smoked, when I started a pack of 10 was about £1.70. Nowadays it is £3.70 or more. It is of course double for a 20 deck. I used to buy these things daily, if you could drip feed the cost of a provari on a daily basis into the shops in the same way, I'd sign up. But because that isn't available the fact is that the initial cost is high.

Since I bought my Provari I haven't spent a dime on anything but cartos, juice, and tanks. I still have 3 eGo batteries and a box mod that work and will probably buy something variable for further backup.

My projection is that the Provari will last. SS threads don't wear out like aluminum threads on my flashlights and the pot metal threads on my Chinese PV's. Mine has been dropped on concrete enough without visible damage to convince me that it's a tough product. The higher end aluminum VV mods these days cost 2/3 of the price of a satin SS Provari. I see much higher quality in paying a little more.

My comments aren't intended to be Provari fanboy statements. They are just what I consider to be statements of what I consider to be facts backed by experience with the product.

One day, I will probably buy an expensive LED flashlight. I held back on the $60 tactical flashlight I bought from Sears because I didn't want to spend twice as much. It's a good flashlight, but it's also a tap and glow model that uses 6 AAA cells. You have to twist the battery cap and the head to restore constant light when you turn it on or it will blink and vary from electrical resistance. I want one that turns on a works without fiddling with it all the time. My Sears Craftsman model is bright and does the job at 170 lumens, but it's aggravating to use. I kind of wish now that I had bought one of the Surefire models for $110 that uses 18650 IMR cells.

So in summary, you need a new torch? ;-)

may I ask which quad rail it's mounted on? :)

Hi lightbud,
I actually had to put that in the search box:facepalm: I was right on what i was thinking but wanted to be sure. We never owned a gun, but a year ago after turning 55 decided it might be a good idea to get something. Funny, still haven't taken it out of box.

Now I am not sure which Provari to get. I can't make up my mind. I guess it will depend on the batteries.

You can always order an extension cap for the 18650 battery after the fact. One 2000mah 18650 will last most people all day. When you order a Provari it comes with the standard end cap even if you order the extended cap, so you will have both whether you order the extension cap with it or after the fact.

I'll try the Provari once the 3 Chinese mods in the mail arrive and fail (CVI, Vamo and Lavatube). The Provari is tempting but expensive ... and I don't know yet whether I will vape long term or try to cut down and eventually stop.

Don't worry. Chinese products live up to their reputation. I give you less than a year before you upgrade to a Provari.
