Heya Ben

What did they end up diagnosing you with? Did they give you something for the stress? Dude, since I've started nursing school a year and a half ago, I have developed many gray hairs, lol. Mix it in with work, and my son, who is also in school, and I'll be completely gray before I turn 30 :D

What haven't I gone insane yet? Video games. They are my release, the time when I don't have to focus on stressors like school and work, and just relax. I hope that you have, or find something like this to help you out. I wish you and yours the best, much love.

I hear ya about the video games. For me it was the Battlefield series, I could really immerse myself into the game and forget about everything else. I wasn't very good at the game but the therapy worked for me. Hope you find something that works for you Ben.

So glad to hear you are feeling better and are able to check in here! I gave you my contact information, so maybe sometime we all could get together and go to GBG.

I haven't eaten at Gianini's, I have actually sat on their little patio out front with some friends, but they wanted to eat elsewhere else so I didn't get to try it. We seem to always end up down the street at Kinetic brewing. I recreated their cottage pie, it is the best I have ever had. They also have a wine bar (which is good for you BTW ) The Laemmle theater there has leather recliners instead of regular seats, so I can actually sit in a theater and watch a movie with my bum leg. I love the Blvd., it's small but all we have in this little town, which is better than going down the hill for everything.

Before you try the L-Arginine, make sure you speak with your cardiologist, but I am sure you know better than to take medical advice on the internet, so that is the only advice I will give you here. I worked cardiology for years in the ICU/CCU and did many a recovery on the angios. Glad they found your arteries clean so you can work on lifestyle changes to keep them that way. The radial approach is pretty nice isn't it?

ETA: did the cardiologist use the word "Prinzmetal's?" That was my impression after reading what you had said above, that it was spasm.

While I'll agree that discusing the use of any suppliment/medication should be ran by the Doc first, I don't see any potential complications for taking it in this scenario. Perhaps if he was on any other BP lowering medications, I would think twice before giving such advice. Then again, I am a mere student, and you're a master it seems :p

Post script: Of course we all know that L-Arginine is naturally found in red meats, poultry, fish, and various dairy products. But again, I yield to your experience. All for the best intentions, of course.

I didn't want to mention the nitro. The doc laid it out plain they are only for reducing an "increased pressure" which will likely only occur during... Peak activity.

As for the weird ST, it's still there *shrug* is this from damage? I don't know.

@vsum - The wifey left a message. I don't drink alcohol so ill just grab a juice or water.

When you say 'radial' I'm assuming you mean when they went in through my wrist, and yes that is frackin awesome. I got to see my heart (arterial scaffolding) in real time! How awesome is that? We can see in high def, in real time, .... inside our bodies! I got to see my heart pump, my dyed blood flow. Then later they did a CT to check my lungs for clotting, and while not as neat, still frackin amazing!

I have no idea on Prinzmetal's. To be frank, I talked to the cardiologist only during the angio, and about 5 hours later for a total of 3 minutes. Most of my care was directed by high-speed/low-drag nurses. When I inquired when I was to leave, I was given my prescriptions, told to dress, signed some papers, and left... Hmmm, I should schedule a follow
Up eh?

Tag, you're it! Returned the call. I was here, I just can't run for the phone and I made the mistake of test driving a car the other day. They have been calling so I sort of just assumed it was them again. I called from the cell phone, so you should have that number now also.

Yes, they use the radial artery which is in your wrist. Usually in a heart attack you will have an ST elevation, and they will want to check your blood for certain enzymes. But since your ST was depressed, and you mentioned that your blood work didn't show the typical markers, and your arteries were clean, that is what led me to venture a guess at Printzmetals, which is a spasm. It is still serious, and strangely enough they sometimes will never know what causes it but it MUST be taken seriously as it to can lead to heart muscle damage (heart attack). The way they determine you have that is to rule out most everything else, and the depression can sometimes show up. In any case, ANYTHING to do with your heart is serious stuff! And scary! I was one of your high-speed/low drag RN's I guess. I tried to explain this simply and as to why I thought what I thought from what you said, but obviously I am not a doctor and whatever he told you is much more accurate than a simple guess based off what you said. I was just curious because it is my nature to be so

I'll take the prayers as "well wishes" I'm an Atheist, and if I'm to believe my former pastor, prayers will bounce off of me now, LOL.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm technically fine. My heart, according to the cardiologist is "gorgeous" no calcification, or disease. My lungs are clean and clear, and everything has been dyed and shown no-clogs.

So, what makes an EKG say you're having a heart attack without the usual culprits? Stress and anxiety.

I'm 34 yo. 6ft 1 in., and 250 pounds. I'm not in the best shape but as check ups go I get rave reviews. Please, if you swallow stress like I do, stop. Find an alternative. If you haven't had a heart attack I can now full-heartedly (pun!) say it is not a desirable experience. I was under the assumption that you had to have other factors present to have a heart attack (cholesterol, high BP, calcification, disease, etc.) but you don't.

I want to take this time to thank my cardiologist for spending a good portion of his life making a difference. I'd also like to thank each and every staffer at the hospital. They were my pit-crew through it all and the professionalism, care, and genuine compassion displayed by them all was enriching and made me feel safe during a scarey time. Lastly, I'd like to thank two things: Time, for being at the right point in time in my life that I can have a serious malady and go to a hospital to get taken care of. Finally, science, for being awesome and improving our lives (and keeping us alive), and all of the medical equipment that was brought to us by science.

So for those of you who still don't know what I look like, here's me at my best/worst

I'll take what you're learning under advisement Ben. I'm the same age and body size, and have the tendency to stress TOO much. You've been extra kind to me, so I'll take this opprotunity to thank you for that, and let you know that I hope this can be a new beginning for you; that you can enjoy learning to reduce stress, and that you'll feel a whole lot better from now on. Go to the beach dude, now that you live in So Cal. Find some well deserved Peace. I wish all the best for you!

I wish you a speedy and quick recovery. I can totally understand what you mean about stress and bottling it in.

I had a similar experience to you just this past May. I've always been the type to do my job, suck up the bad and just keep plugging at it. I was with a company for 7 years in a position that had very high stress, an abusive boss and little gain. The bonus to my job was that it put food on the table for me, my wife and my dog and I also was able to help people. I was a HR Generalist and my day to day job was helping and interacting with people.

To fast forward, in May I started having panic attacks and one day I really thought I was having a heart attack. I was rushed to the ER and ran multiple tests. What was found was that everything, my heart, my physical/mental ailment was due to high stress and anxiety. I let all the stress and anxiety bottle in and final it came rushing out.

Fortunately for me and I'm sure it will be for you, you have good people close to you, who will support you through this. You also have the people here at ECF and the people that love what you do support you. I couldn't have made it through the doctors visits, the will to quit smoking, get into shape and lead a healthier and better life without them (family, friends & supoort here on ECF).

I just wanted to wish you all the best and I know you'll be back soon making that juice that everyone loves so much including myself!

:D

I agree with all of the above, keep your head up and I'll say a prayer for you! I'm a new customer and now after getting my first order I will be a lifelong customer! Or for as long as I keep vaping. For my next order I will ask for more of your business cards so I can pass them to friends and family and the public, it's my way of paying it forward!

Oh and by the way, I just tried Cravelope straight out of the bottle. No steeping needed its amazing

Nice. I personally didn't care too much for that juice. But that's only because I don't really like the melon vapes. Peaches are nice, however.

I've found that none of Ave Juices requiring steeping, and they are all fantastic out of the mailbox. Well, in my opinion anyways.

Sheesh Ben, those are some scary photos, I send you and your family my very best wishes.

FWIW, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr's book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease changed my life, and my diet, after I read The China Study. Professor Dean Ornish is on the same advisory board.

Both Ornish and Pritikin regimes / programs are now approved by medicare, so you know they have undergone a lot fo studies, and is approved for patients who have experienced any kind of "artery event".

For those who are not familiar, it will represent a huge change in the way you eat, but Esselstyn's patients were motivated....they were in very bad shape and so they were williing to do the work.

I try to put the information out there because there are enough studies to show it works. I lowered my cholesterol by 100 in a year, w/out statins, and my doctor wanted to know "what did you do? how did you do this?" when he saw me.

I had a heart attack too, in 10/2008 at the age of 36 so I can fully concur with this. Hope you're still recovering nicely. Loving my first order from AVE!
