I got my eVic today, but something is wrong. Every flavor I have tried is horrid, it burns no matter how low my voltage/wattage is, and makes me feel like im smoking nyquil.

Boge Dual Coil Tank (DCT) with Aluminum Caps [Boge-DCT] - $6.64 : ValueVapor.com, Discount Electronic Cigarettes and e-Liquid

Vision Stardust 2.0 Rebuildable eGo Clearomizers [Vision-Clearo-2.0] - $4.99 : ValueVapor.com, Discount Electronic Cigarettes and e-Liquid

Those are the cartomizers I got, and I bought several flavors called FlavorZ by joe. Mango, kryptonite, red can cola, pomegranate are the ones I have tried so far. Mango is the only one I can stand, even that has a low quality candy taste to it. What could I be doing wrong?

I found out I have a vape shop in town, so I'm going to head over there tomorrow and see if they can recommend something to me, so far this experience blows...

It is useful with a carto tank to pre-fill the carto before you start, so that the filler is saturated and can't burn. If the filler does get singed initially, that taste will remain in the carto, and it needs to be tossed. I hope you can get some help tomorrow!

It's also best to start a new carto or clearo at a low voltage, say 3.3 volts, and increase it gradually

Until you get more comfortable I'd start with the clearos. Fill them with liquid & twirl it around for a couple of mins to make sure that the wicks are fully saturated so that they don't burn & then vape.

I also recommend checking out the blogs section of the forum to read Baditudes blogs about priming cartos for use in a cartotank. Also watch a couple of YouTube videos as well.

Welcome to the forum! Don't give up! It takes a bit to get used to everything but you'll be vaping away in no time!

Some places just have yucky fluid.

I've never tried the brand you mentioned, but I've purchased fluids before that were completely unvapeable because they tasted exactly like vomit or lemon pine sol. Even had some friends try them in their own devices, but everyone agreed....puke and/or lemon scented cleaning product.

Don't get discouraged. You'll get it sorted out eventually.

I echo the advice go using clearomisers. I love them and my juice tastes so much better than with cartos. I had a juice that I didn't like very much and when I finally used it in a clearomiser it was soooo yummy.

You are just dealing with the learning curve of vaping. Don't give up! Once you get the hang of it all it's great.

Yes! Some taste NOTHING like they should, make you want to vomit and get ...... you ever bought them. Caveat emptor.

Sounds like you are trying to learn to swim by jumping off a moving ship in the middle of the ocean.

First - Any Cartomizer that taste burnt.............Throw it away. It is ruined.
Second - Use a Clearomizer to try out ANY unfamiliar Flavor. Saves on cost to test. Easy to pour back into Bottle and start over.

Place E-liquid in Clearo, avoiding Center hole/pipe. Fill to base of wick/coil opening. i.e. don't OVER fill
Allow time for New wicks to pick up e-liquid. 10-20 minutes.

For simplicity, set eVic to Watts. adjust to 6.8w this should work on ANY e-liquid as a starting point.
Do 2-3 Dry pulls, no power, to prime before firing. Give it a try.

Cartomizers - Take your time filling, until spongy looking at the top of the filling - e-liquid will be soaked in until saturated. Insert into tank, top off Tank and let set for 20-30 minutes.
Cartomizer tanks can do a great job, once you get used to filling properly.

crxess got it down for you. One of the many reasons I got off using cartos for daily use is I was probably doing all the wrong things to totally destroy cartos and juice. I agree with murphy that the learning curve with cartos is quite high. I moved up to genny attys and never looked back. I also hated waiting for the carto to prime. I didnt want to smoke but at times seemed like a better solution to my nicotine fit. HATE WAITING!!!

Dont give up....keep camn and vape on.

go to the vape shop and simply ask for an evod or protank..
Tanke you botlle of FBJ (which btw are quite good quality) and ask the guy there to show you how to get started with the evod.

You will not be disapointed.

Once you get home, go online and find evods/protanks and their coils (both the coils from evods and protanks are interchangeable I personally prefer the protank ones) and buy a good set that you can rotate...

Your experience will change forever...

EDIT: this is my 150th post here and now I am a Super Member I believe.. Wohoooo!!! <-- Senior I guess...

I started with prefilled carto's myself. figured i would learn how to do my own once I figured out how they should taste.

If you are just swapping over to vaping. I would start with something that tastes closer to your brand of a cigarette. Once your cigarette reduced senses return to a more normal range then you will find that cigarette taste .. is kinda nasty and will want something a little tastier.

I'm with the rest of these guys. I tried one carto 510 (I can't even remember the brand anymore, and don't want to.) and hated it which is why when I made the switch I jumped straight to a Kanger Evod clearo. I can't recommend those tanks enough. They are strong as hell and have bottom feeding coils, which I also HIGHLY recommend as they make your initial experience a bit simpler. With bottom feeds there's no need to mod the wicking or any of that, they prime themselves by gravity and most people never get a dry hit out of it. I have, but I kinda think I did that to myself.

Good luck and don't give up, cartos are just kinda iffy. If you really want a "realistic" feel, probably reommend Smokeless Image or Njoy. They are the two I've heard the most positive feed back about. You could also just gut one of your cartos and direct drip. If it's better, it's the carto. If it still tastes bad, it's the juice. I'm not sure if there's one here, but I know VaporTalk has a video explaining direct drip if you need info. Or, anyone here could probably tell you as well.

juice has got to be 99% of it. you can have the best equipment in the world, and if youve got crap juice, its going to taste like crap.

i havent tried a whole lot of juice companies yet, mostly i guess because once i tried Mount Baker Vapor, i was happy... but i can say that MOST of what i have tried (excluding MVB) was terrible. TERRIBLE! i took a chance about a week ago and tried a bottle from a local B&M and it was TERRIBLE. again i seem to like throwing away money. havent i learned yet? 8 bux in the garbage.

anyway, give MBV a try, they are gaining a lot of popularity and are one of the most inexpensive. i recommend Cinnamon Roll or Butterscotch to try. i also look at some of the polls here on this site, to see what the favorite juice compaines are, and Ahlusion, Heathers Heavenly Vapes, and Backwoods Brew seem to rank pretty high. these 3 are next on my list.

good luck on your search.
