I'm a gadget guy and an impulse buyer...great combination for getting turned on to something like vaping right?
My wife asks me if vaping is cheaper than smoking. I say "not yet, but it will be".

I don't really care though. I'm having a blast trying new things, learning and doing all this while living healthier.
I'm in to cycling, and notice a HUGE improvement in the two short months I've been analog free, so if I'm a couple of hundred down at this point, I'm WAY up in the long run.

This sounds so familiar because my brother did the same exact thing. I cheated.....borrowed one of his and a few bottles of juice and now I think I am still under $50 spent on vaping and I have been doing it for roughly 2 months. I know...you all hate me :)

This sounds kind of familiar to me!!! Lol

My step-son vaped his first 2 months for about $50.

I, OTOH, held about $500 in inventory of batteries, cartos, and a variety of juices. He would pick and choose what suited him and paid for the minimum of equipment and supplies.

I like to think that I could have got by with the same amount if I had a local B&M that I could have tried things at and relied on for re-supply.

I'm just Thankful that he was interested enough to try it. I doubt that he would have taken the initiative to order everything on his own. Helping others is certainly it's own reward with regards to Vaping.

I spent way to much the first 2 months.. like 500-600 bucks. But that was to set up 2 people each with an ego t kit and then a VV mod lol. And we were spending between 260-350 a month on cigs so it evened out pretty quick. Now 3 months in it looks like I will spend 30-60 a month replacing cartos/clearo and buying flavorings for juice. Works for me!

Haha, I've gone through the exact same process.

Batteries? Started with a cheap gas station thing, went to 510, then ego, now provari.

Cartos? Have used boge, resurrectors, stardusts, clearomizers, even an atomizer with cartridges. Now I'm punching my own cartos to use with a phiniac tank.

Juice I've been pretty lucky with. Had some nasty super thick stuff from a local smoke shop when I started, then found TheVaporRoom and they've been my sole supplier.

I figure its a process. Now that I'm on the provari I won't be upgrading that bit. I like the phiniac tank, need to figure out which carto I want to use with it. Juice? Well, thats the fun part of vaping.

I have a box with about $300 in various carts, tanks, tips, adapters and such (and 2 packs of 808 Phoenix bottom coils on the way), have given away a Provari to a family member, have a Lavatube I use only rarely, 2 Volt 65mm batteries I gave away to another family member, 4 1300mah Volt X2s (my main PVs), a box with 147 bottles of juice between 3ml and 30ml that I didn't like, a box with 22 bottles (between 5 and 120ml) of juices I do like (and I have 12 more sample bottles on their way), and a large tub with about $300 in DIY supplies (and I'll need to order more nic and some extra bottles soon).

I only started vaping in January with a Blu. But the flood seems like it should be slowing down. I only have one more vendor on my list after this next shipment comes to try for juices so my sample frenzy should be coming to a close.
And I've dialed into the hardware I like now so I won't be buying anymore batteries/mods. Once I finish the juice frenzy and restock my DIY supplies I should only be buying refills as needed. Which considering my current stockpile, will probably mean at least 3 or 4 months where I won't have to buy anything (unless one of my favorite vendors creates a new, interesting juice :p But that shouldn't be too common as I'm kind of picky about my flavors now that I know more about which ones I like to vape and which ones I don't).

It seems like I've been spending like crazy but I added it all up and I've spent about $1500 (not counting the Provari and other stuff I've given away which was money well spent as the family I gave them to have both also quit cigs). Which still seems like a lot but considering I'd been spending $70 a week on cigs, my calculations based on what I have and use say I should break even before the end of the year.

This all sounds too familiar! In December I was "gifted" with my first cheapy 510 setup, and sort of introduced into the world of ecigs. Not until a few months later did I discover this whole universe of reviews/forums/websites, etc. Only then did my impulsivity and addictive behavior kick in and unfortunately hasn't stopped. I have heard the phrase "vape budget" recently and like the theory behind it, hopefully can set a limit soon. I also feel that once I find a set up and combination I am completely happy with, I'll most likely only be spending a few dollars on juice every month.

I think I may be "toy" OCD anyway but for me once I got what I really liked (which took awhile), my expenses have been very low maybe 30 percent of what i spend on analog. I do from time to time order my usual juices and in addition order samples sizes from various companies. It reminds me of a pipe tobacco smoker, its a fix and a hobby!

I've been rather frugal with vaping stuff thus far but it's so far worked keeping me from analogs. Started with blu last year before Christmas and have moved to the eGo clone Vea. Bought one kit of each thus far and after starting with the Vea I'm now in the carto and juice market. Juice is pretty well settled now to an all day vape but still playing with differing cartos. Plan on getting a BB in the near future as it sounds like where I'd like to wind up. Maybe I'll get an eGo Twist just to try out VV but don't want to spend too much otherwise. I like the idea of being in the black since kicking analogs and that appeals to my fiscal conservative side quite nicely. Lord forbid I should win the lottery or anything like that...

Is there any truth to the rumor that staying away from ECF helps keep spending down?

Nope. Because then I get an Email from Youtube telling me a reviewer I'm subbed to has something new up or a vendor sends an email announcing some new gadget or juice flavor.

And Michael Corleone though he had problems getting out. :p

I too have gone a little bit crazy, my lady friend is so sick of seeing my new gadgets it's not even funny! I too wonder what the post man thinks as he stuffs my mailbox to the brim on a daily basis :)

But I do love me some gadgets, combine that with the hobby aspect, and you've got a recipe for one used and abused debit/credit card :)

I will never add up the money I've spent in the very short time I've been vaping, as if that didn't kill me, my old lady would! But what matters most is I'm having fun, and I'm off the analogs, and feeling better than I've felt in years!

Vape on!
