Hornet minor problem

Hey everyone!

So it seems like I'm having a little problem with the ohms on my Hornet changing over the last couple days... I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

I noticed it yesterday, my original coil I made was set at around 1.42-1.43 ohms and over the next few days I noticed the flavor tasting a little different and the vapor not as intense as I usually like it. I took the Hornet off and ohmed it out last night and it read 1.68!! What in the world?? I fiddled with the coil put in a new wick and brought it back down to 1.45 and everything went back to normal. It seems like its happening when I'm squonking the Reo and the juice wets the wick which either slightly moves the coils or the liquid itself moves the coil, which ends up changing the ohms.

Has that happened to anyone else or noticed that? Am I doing something wrong with my coils because I was under the impression that ohms shouldn't fluctuate too much after the coil has been screwed down. I bet most of you have the VVG so you guys probably don't need to worry about this issue lol. Just another reason for me to go and buy a VVG. I was going to wait until my birthday as a gift to myself but that day MIGHT have to be sooner rather than later!

I am hoping that is some kind of fluke incident, I mean with my hornet on the way and all...

Sounds to me like one of the screws was a little lose . I have had to snug my screws down after a couple days of use with one of my atomizers nothing to be worried about The hornet is as simple as it gets

Thanks Rob! Yeah I think that might be the problem... I have been trying not to screw them on too tight because the last time I did that the legs just snapped right off lol. I'll give that a try but also it seems like one of my screws doesn't go all the way down.. I'm wondering if its stuck or something. I have some other screws that ill try next. Hopefully that's the reason for the ohm fluctuation, I'll update in the next couple days

The screws do need an occasional very gentle tighten down. I like the 30 kanthal as it is tougher than 32 which tends to break with only the slightest stress from post screws. If you build your coils on the rectangular atty ohm reader you can watch the change in resistance when messing with the screws. But my coils typically will raise up in ohms somewhat after I've used them a bit, like <24 hours. I have to do a dry burn on all my coils once a day as they get so gunked up no matter the wick I'm using. Although it doesn't seem too awfully logical to me the resistance will raise with gunking.

UPDATE:

So I went ahead and made a fresh new coil and tightened the screws more than I normally did in the past just like Rob said and.... ITS ALL GOOD! THANKS ROB! You are truly the master and chosen one lol.

I was real careful because the last time I tightened too much the legs snapped right off... but then I realized this was BEFORE I had torched my wire (30 kanthals) so they were more delicate compared to after torched. I messed around with the coil and it was STILL fluctuating but very slightly like from 1.4 to 1.37-1.38, and so I tightened them EVEN more and now no matter how much I mess with the coils it has stayed at the same ohms (1.38... still a little low, but maybe it'll go a little higher as I break it in) Great great advice!

So super_x_drifter you have absolutely no worries! Just tighten them down a little more to make sure the legs and the coil doesn't move around (even if it is ever so slightly) and the ohm level won't change. By the way did your Hornet arrive yet? Do you also have a ohm meter?
