Hi guys. So my setup is the wismec predator with joyetech ornate atomizer and the batteries are the Efest IMR 18650 35A (charged on Efest pro C2)
The problem that I keep encountering is a hotspot just below the power button of the mod. The batteries themselves don't get hot and while the atomizer does... It's on the opposite part of the mod from the hotspot and there's no hot areas in between the two points...

I'd like to ask where the issue might be... Whether it's the insulation, bad circuitry or batteries. The mod is about month old while the batteries are about half a year old.

Thank you for your time. Looking forward to being part of this community in the future

Welcome to ECF

First Efest IMR 18650 35A is not 35 amp rating .
Check this out about the Wismec Predator Issue of 510

Hi. first: I don't claim it is.. just listing the name I got from the website.
Second: the video is completely unrelated to any heat issue. the threads on my predator are just fine.

When they came out, I give Wismec a chance, and well..

While I did not have the 510 pin issue, I had one that the USB port simply broken apart by itself, and both keeps jumping modes by themselves on a regular basis. So they have been completely unreliable. On a side note, the paint on both of them came off very quickly.

Both are now sitting on my desk and probably will be considered "paperweight".

So that said, from what you're saying, it's either the heat from the tank that's transferring down, which could be somewhat normal as many kits can do that if the tank gets really hot (and that's another story), or a part of the board that's getting hot.

You should try it with a tank that does NOT get hot and see if it's still happening, as if yes, then it's something with the mod.

But if you're able to bring it back and get refunded or choose another mod, I would. The Predator looks nice, but those looks fade and the rest of the issues just aren't worth it.

Getting hot near around & under the fire button is another known problem with wismec predator as is getting hot when charging inside the device, as is USB port getting hot for no reason, as is getting the over heat warning with normal use.

Some folks disassembled & found insufficient gauge wiring, problems with the battery holder/sled, actual arcing between cells, sloppy soldering & insufficient contacts.

If you can return it for refund, if not and you have the skill disassemble & search for the cause, or fix it with a 3 lb ball peen hammer.
