Recently, the button on my Knurled King mod has been getting hot.. I've been using the same build on it for a bit over a week, and just recently it's been happening. I've thrown the same atty on my other mods, and it doesn't happen with them. (Mirandus, Sentinel V3)

I've been building for over a year now, so I know what I'm doing.

Not sure why?

No shorts in my build, checked all of it on a Ohm reader, and a Multi-Meter.

I've cleaned all the threads, really good. Including the threading on the contacts themselves. Contacts surfaces have been cleaned also, I've even gone as far as getting a new spring, and that didn't help either. I've cleaned every single thing on the mod, and it just hasn't gone away.

I've also tried all of my batteries, no luck. (Sony 30A, MNKE, and 20A Samsung INR's)

I'm running a .35 dual micro coil, 26g.

Could anyone try to help me out here?

Did some digging and googling.

Sounds like a poor connection on the bottom where the push button is. You can try using button top AWs to resolve problem possibly. Also, cleaning the mod, threads etc work if the batteries don't seem to be the problem.

Make sure everything is secure too and no rattle in the mod.

Hope you get it figured out.

Heat at the switch button is IMO always caused by resistance between the switch contact surfaces.

The spring AFAIK, is not part of the circuit. Here's what Vaperev says about tips & tricks for the King Mod:

"To adjust top pins, unscrew the wider top pin enough to thread your atomizer onto the top cap. Once your atomizer is where you want it to sit on your device, screw the bigger top pin back in until it makes connection with the positive post of the atomizer. To adjust for battery rattle, screw or unscrew the smaller top pin to adjust how you want the top cap to sit on the device.

Copper contacts can tarnish, which may lead to slight voltage drop under load. When your contacts tarnish, you can polish them with any polish approved for polishing copper."

Best of luck with it :thumb:

are your contacts silver plated? I have a mech mod that came with silver plated contacts and half of the contact was peeling or chipping off when I first got it. I had to sand it all off for a smooth equal surface to get rid of the button heating issues. I also had a rusty spring and I let it sit in vinegar for 3 days and it removed all the rust.
