You replace the 'coil' / replaceable head when you notice a change in taste or vapor production.
Consistent odd, off, funky, hot or burnt taste = time to change. Some folks get a month or more from a head some get a few days. Actual mls of liquid vaped is a better measure.

Be sure to use BVC not BDC replacement heads and thoroughly prime a new/unused head before use.
Do this by dripping drops of eliquid on top of the screen inside the head & allowing time for them to soak in, keep adding drops until the wicking material is fully saturated, may take 5 - 10 drops.
Then install head into base, fill tank, take a few unpowered primer puffs, you should see a couple bubbles rise from the wicking holes. Let it sit for a few minutes.
Set your power device to a lower power setting, gradually work your way up in power over the first tank to prevent burning the new one & allow the head to 'break in'.

While you're replacing the head thoroughly clean & dry the airflow chamber in the base & the center/air tube.

You need to experiment with power ranges & airflow settings to find what you like best in vape quality. Vaping is all about individual preferences.

3.6 ? / 36 mg/ml nic is going to give a fairly harsh throat hit, may want to reduce your nic level.
I smoked 50 or more cigarettes per day and started vaping with 36 mg/ml nic & quickly (within 2 weeks) went down to 24 mg/ml nic. After the second month I was at 18mg.
That isn't about quickly reducing nic, it is all about finding the right nic level for each individual.

Welcome @Pagan 1960

The first thing I have to ask is.. is your liquid 36mg? because that would be the normal strength of liquid described as 3.6? Where's it from?

36mg is a lot, but not necessarily too much if you are vaping just a few puffs at a time or at low power (under say, 8 watts) and only using around 2ml a day.

How often have you changed you coil(s) so far? I vape about 1.5 tanks a day and tend to to stick exclusively with one tank from 8am to 8pm. I would get anything from 7 to 10 days from a mini Nautilus coil.

Can you remember your brand of (UK) cigarettes?

And I'm experimenting with there other tobacco flavours , all so far have been the highest strength 36mg nicotine .the mini nautilus aspire , I use aprox 1 and a half tanks per day three or four puffs a time , had both devices for around 20 days and not changed the coils yet , do I have to clean the tanks , there are virtually no instructions with them so difficult to know what maintainence I should be doing , any tips gratefully recieved

P.S.

If ox liquid is actually XO liquid, then you have Liberty Flights tobacco flavour e-liquid.

36mg will be removed from sale quite soon (EU TPD) so you need to find another liquid (under 20mg) anyway and ideally not from your existing shop. The reasons for that are long-winded and I won't bore you.

Hi @Pagan 1960 Annette.

"Blues" are 0.7mg Nicotine, so 36mg is rather strong i.m.o. but don't let that stop you if it's going OK. Dave Dorn vapes 36mg (or did, back in the day) but he was on 60-70 smokes a day (to give you an idea).

If you are happy taking just a few puffs, it's not so mad.

Cleaning tanks? yes... now and again. Just a nice rinse in a sink under warm water, I do it every 7-10 days when I change the atomizer head (the coil, replacement head).

Dropping nicotine is not that tricky, as long as you have access to your vaping device.
I used 18mg for a year (roll ups, up to 15 a day) then went to 12 and noticed almost no difference.

I know all about Liberty Flights and boycott them 100%. Reasons for that are not for publishing on the internet, but whatever, you can do better for less money.

Vape devices have gone up in power. When (it will happen) the UK ban 36mg liquid you will have to stop vaping that go down to 18mg. The point of higher power vaping is to get more vapour and more satisfaction. If you raise the power on your iStick, you can get more Nicotine. Most vapers vape lower nicotine these days, but you don't have to.
