I've mentioned it before but deserves to be said again that Tim over at Hot Vapes has some of the better customer service amongst vendors in the E-cig community. I urge anyone with questions to shoot him an email or PM and he's quick to respond. I had some issues with online ordering through his site (my bad not the site's) and I gave him a call and was quick to help out. It wasn't one of those situations where you call and get an automated answering service and need to navigate through a series of push button answers.
Disclaimer: i don't represent any retailer when doing my reviews, I don't claim that my opinion is the only or "right" opinion. I just enjoy trying different juices and placing my thoughts in a review for others to enjoy. I do understand that how I interpret a specific juice may be different than someone else's and encourage others to post their thoughts as well. My intentions aren't to pursuade someone to buy a juice and in turn am not trying to tell someone they shouldn't. That being said..Onto the Review!!!
I ordered a bunch of 6ml bottles from Hot Vapes just to try out some different flavors and another vendor. one of the juices I received was the Cafe Filbert.
Color: It is a medium brown maybe best described as an iced tea color.
Viscosity: It's a 50/50 blend as all of of Hot Vapes Big Heart Flavors line of juices is. I personally find it slightly on the thinner side than some other juices I have reviewed.
Smell: It has a sweeter smell to it and strangely reminds me of an amaretto aroma.
For purposes of this review I will be using a MV 902 PT with a clean LR atty and 510 cart with a whistle mouthpiece.
Vapor Production: On the PT it has an above average vapor production. Doesn't leave me desiring more but it's not going to affect my driving if I was to vape this juice behind the wheel. In another note, to me, Vapor production(or lack of) is not going to dissuade me from that particular juice.
Throat Hit: for a 50/50 blend it's middle of the road. There is a definite difference in a one stage and two stage inhale with this juice. On a one stage inhale I find myself pulling back from the PV more prematurely than I normally would as I can begin to feel it while still inhaling. That said my preference is a two stage inhale when vaping as it more closely mimics my ex-analog type inhale.
Flavor: On inhale, when the vapor first touches the tip of my tongue I get that same amaretto reminder as I did in the smell as well as a slight sweet taste traveling through my mouth, On exhale the coffee flavor is prominent. It's actually one of the best representations of a coffee flavor I've experienced. I don't get that wet coffee grind taste I've had in other coffee flavor based juices. I get a nice fresh roasted slightly sweetened black coffee taste. I can also taste the filbert as an undertone. It's def a hazelnut but more towards a roasted hazelnut flavor and it's more of an afterthought in the entire flavor as a whole. By nature Coffee is a strong flavor and anytime I've had a coffee flavor I find that the coffee overpowers the additional flavor thats in the juice. However, I find a nice balance between the two here.
All in all I find this a great flavor to accompany my mornings, It would be great paired with any breakfast food as well as a good addition to just your cup of morning joe which is how I like to enjoy it. That's when I use this flavor most. What I have also found is that your going to want to clean out your atty when you switch this juice. The flavor tends to be on the stronger side and any other juice you place in your PV afterward is going to acquire some of this flavor.
Now HotVapes juices for me anyway tend to be a little bit more expensive than other vendors I have used but if your looking for an authentic coffee taste married with a nice subtle roasted nut undertone IMO it does the trick.
Thanks and Happy vaping!!!
