If you ever find them in stock NiteLiteVapor's Gold and Bounty hunter are very good tobacco's. I havent been able to get my own order but a friend of mine who has a small stockpile and wont share has let me try them a few times, enough to know I would love to get my hands on some of my own. Gold is a very bold flavor tobacco and kinda sweet exhale. I have been stalking the site pretty hard, without success yet. Oh and I forgot to mention bounty hunter has a good mild sweetness to it, almost like a dessert flavor to me. You may enjoy it, hints of vanilla.

I know that for some people, the holy grail is the all-day vape that will just be great every time you vape it. And I think some people can achieve it, too- they find that one thing that hits the spot, and they live happily ever after.

I'm not one of those, and I don't want to be. The hunt for great flavors is just too much fun for me to want to be done with it, and I can't imagine vaping just one flavor all-day.

Part of the reason your taste buds go dull on you is because your sense of smell has so much influence on your sense of taste- your brain will even register certain scents as originating in the mouth. If you spend a lot of time around a particular scent, your sense of smell will dull to it- you can't smell it anymore, and then you won't taste it either. It's like when you first put cologne on- you can smell it just fine, but a few hours later, you aren't aware of it at all even though those around you can still smell it just fine. This is why you run across those people in the mall sometimes that make your eyes water and your throat close up from two stores away- they've literally drowned themselves in scent because they've been using it so long they can't smell it anymore, even though they are walking around in a mushroom cloud of Drakkar Noir so strong it could be used as a chemical weapon.

For me, it's really useful to change up my whole flavor profile whenever things start to get bland. If I'm vaping fruity stuff, I switch to savory, if I'm vaping bakery stuff, I switch to spicy, whatever is the best contrast. Following creamy vanilla with another creamy vanilla won't work- my nose and tongue are obviously done sensing creamy vanilla for now- I need to shake things up to wake up my senses again, and eventually, I'll be able to enjoy the juice that went dead on me before again.

Over the edge...
It is my understanding that PG offers more flavor and TH less vapor while VG offers more vapor but mutes TH and Flavor to some extent.

You're close. PG does enhance flavor but only nicotine provides throat hit in a juice. You can vape 100% PG with no nic and get no throat hit at all.

Ohai with another wise post! ;)

Aw, thanks.

You're using my fav avatar again.

I've been looking into the science behind taste and smell lately, and it's interesting stuff. You can actually train yourself to taste and smell things more strongly by "practicing" daily- new chefs are often told to do this to heighten their sensitivity. One suggestion is to get out all the spices in your spice cupboard, and turn the labels away from yourself so you can't see them. Open up the jars, and sniff each one in turn without looking at it, trying to guess which is which (be careful not to snort the cayenne, mind you). As you become more accurate at identifying them, you'll also become more sensitive to them, and your sense of taste improves along with it.

I'm thinking that you could do this with vaping, too, if you are doing it mindfully. I love when reviewers sort of pick the flavors apart when they tell you about a juice- I can tell they are really paying attention, and that they've refined their sense of smell and taste- you can trust the juice to taste like they say it does.

hmm. that i might try ohai. how i'm going to make it work for vaping is questionable though. i'm going to need a bunch of 357s cause i'm a bit too lazy to clean it to switch over to a new juice. i have enough pv's to do 10 different flavors back to back however haha.

i'll add this in my things to do on sunday list. it's usually my off day and have all the free time in the world until monday

You cannot own too many atties- when you find one you like, buy a bunch and keep one for each flavor profile. You can also vape unflavored PG/VG between flavors so you don't need to clean as often. I throw little tasting parties for myself all the time- my kids say it looks like a mad scientist hangs out in our living room.

That's why I have over 10 different flavors... I switch flavors whenever I start to notice that loss of flavor. Some of the flavors do tend to lose the flavors faster, but I haven't been paying attention to which one of them it is. I switch flavors often. Some flavors I can vape forever, but since I have plenty to choose from, I just switch it so I don't get tired of them.

(Blush) I just took it down before I read this. Thanks though!

I read in a book about thinking like Leonardo Da Vinci to try and articulate any smell at any time without using the word "like". It is truly difficult, but in my reviews I try and state, as opposed to likening. Sometimes it may be bs, but other times I feel I am getting close. If a juice tastes like maple syrup, well...how does maple syrup taste? Adjectives, adjectives, adjectives!

p.s. billherbst does a mighty fine job of this.

lol! It crossed my mind that you might change it before you saw that comment, actually. I like this one, too, it's just harder to see the nuances in the texture.

That's an interesting way of looking at it, and so much more difficult than you'd think, isn't it? maple is viscous, rich, sweet, syrupy, fragrant... could be cloying or tantalizing depending on quality...

I think your descriptions are actually a very good example of what I was talking about, so difficult as it is, I think you're succeeding. I don't generally try tobaccos very often, but I can get a better sense of whether I will like something or not independent of whether the reviewer likes something or not if he can explain the flavor profiles and balances between them more fully, and you do that well, imo. We have fairly different preferences, so it doesn't really help me to hear whether or not you like it, but if you can isolate those flavors for me, it doesn't matter.

p.s. billherbst does a mighty fine job of this.

Thanks, I will look him up! There's a new guy around here somewhere, chefjosh, who is also excellent, imo.

iunno if i'll buy 20 different hh.357s :p

i might try i06's as a cheaper alternative.

lol, you probably don't need 20. By flavor profile, I don't mean each individual juice flavor, I mean flavor categories, like sweet, spicy, savory, creamy, fruity, tobacco... if you have something that is extremely difficult to clean out of an atty, like cinnamon, keep that atty for only cinnamon flavors, otherwise, they can share with other similar flavors just fine.

And yeah, I know 357s are the best, but you may find you don't really need the very best thing for everything you vape, esp for taste testing purposes.

I guess the devil is in the details. I guess I meant more in comparison to each other. PG does ofter more TH than VG not because PG inherently provides TH but because it does not mute it like VG does.

I'm vaping Boba's Bounty right now in 24mg at 4.8V. 100% VG. Believe me, there's nothing muted about it. Again, you can vape no nic PG and you will get zero throat hit. You can vape 100% VG 24mg nic juice and get massive throat hit. PG enhances flavor, not throat hit.:)

It honestly depends more on the juice than the ratios. I don't know why that is, but I know it to be true.

Yeah, I agree PG doesnt enhance TH, as I said though, two of the same juices(same nic content/flavor) one in 100% PG and the other 100% VG, the one in 100% PG will have more TH. Not because PG enhances it but because VG mutes it. Thats apples to apples where your example is more apples to oranges.

I don't know the exact name either , but my favorite so far is "mud mouth"

hmm. i've actually tried to do extensive research on this before. it was around the time i was forced to stop vaping all together.
i couldn't find information on it because i didn't know the exact term for it nor if it's a side effect of vaping.

the reason i was forced to stop was because all the juices i vaped at that time no matter what company, flavor, mix, or device i used; it had no taste to me what so ever.

i'm scared that will happen again and i don't want that =S
