I vaped rca123s for 6v in my Red Diamond mod for a while but it wasn't very smart. Some mods are made have stacked batteries like the Akston Hughes models. Just don't be the guy who blows his teeth out so that I don't have to hear, "Did you hear about that guy who blew his teeth out with those things". Then I have to go into a long winded explanation about stacked batteries and protected vs. unprotected, etc.

Oh, and I'm concerned for your safety. Happy vaping!

Yeah, but the mods made with stacked batteries are all VV and regulating the voltage down instead of boosting it up. Those stacked battery mods are nothing really to worry about. The Ovale V8, Vmax, Vari-Volt and a few others use stacked batteries as well. It's actually a more efficient and powerful way to get to the higher voltage. The internal circuits prevent the kind of disaster that blows the connector through your neck.

I mainly like the idea of getting the same vape from start to finish and as little messing around as possible, thats why I picked a 18650 mod with a tank setup. I currently get 2-3 days out of a battery and atleast that from my 6ml tank but the weak vapes for the end of a battery bugs me, but honestly after reading this thread I won't be stacking batteries... I'll just wait, a friend of mine just ordered a lavatube so I can check 6v out too soon enough. Thanks for all the safety info guys! Vape On!
If you like the same vape, start to finish, you're going to love Variable Wattage like the Kick. It's really a much smarter way to approach the whole "custom" taste thing. There are only two other mods with Variable Wattage I'm aware of. One is the Darwin, which is about as easy to find as a Leprechaun. The other is a VV/VW mod using the Nivel chip. That one is made in Russia and is super expensive, if you can buy it at all.

With variable wattage, you just set your desired level of power and the magic does the rest. You don't have to adjust voltages if you change cartos. You don't have to adjust the voltage to compensate for battery drain. If you always like to vape at 8 watts, that's where you set it and it makes sure the coil is always consuming 8 watts even as the actual coil resistance changes due to heat or gunk build-up or whatever. It's the ultimate way to achieve a stable vape.

Also the Opus has VW although like most of this new stuff, it's very hard to buy, the production capacity just isn't there. No doubt there will be many more options before long though.

It will be a good thing when the circuit boards can handle 4 amps, just now they are limited to about 3 amps because over that they become unreliable. The main drawback of micro electronics is it can't handle handle high power easily, there is nowhere for the heat to go. However the ecig builders will eventually come up with a way to lose the heat, and include higher-power components that can take the load.

Just now there is a power limit that some of the old-school vapers with asbestos lungs find limiting. Micro boards that can take higher power will eventually get past that, probably by using better heat-sink arrangements. But even so, there are some new heads that can generate a much hotter vape than the traditional atties and cartos - some of the clearos and long atty styles are very 'hot' in comparison, so they should be tried by people who need more than the current VV/VW stuff puts out.

    Thanks for the chuckle

Actually I foresee head designs in the future that will produce fried lungs at relatively low power settings. We already know that a top coil design produces a warmer vape than a bottom coil at a given power setting for instance.
But, even right now stacked DNA 12 boards will produce a reliable 23.5 watts if that is the rout someone wants to take.

Yes, it is about time that someone produced a model with a series-parallel array of 4 x 26650 IMR cells to give about 8 volts @ 9,000mAh with twin DNA boards and variable power enough to cook with. There is definitely a market for this model. It might need a remote cable to the vaping head, as the power pack would be like a half-brick. A belt carrier arrangement might work fine. It will also power a 1-mile spotlight for search and rescue personnel and could have other dual-purpose uses as well, such as an emergency car battery starter booster, and so on.

    You mean this big?

That's all the amps required to push 13 watts into the DCC being used BTW.

wow, i read this thread extensively (including links) and these three things came to mind:

    (1) Take a breath, take it deep.
"Calm yourself," he says to me.
If you play, you play for keeps.
Take a gun, and count to three.
    I’m sweating now, moving slow.
No time to think, my turn to go...

    -Rihanna, "Russian Roulette"

    (2) I won't be able to take my vtube on an airplane... actually, I really HOPE I can't take my vtube on an airplane... "No, Mr. T.S.A. Agent, it's just an e-cig." "Oh o.k., just as long as it isn't a pipe bomb. Go ahead and board with it then."

    (3) Some people REALLY like flashlights...

lol, Canuck. you love your flashlights but do you "looove" your flashlights?

on that candlepowerforums that was linked there is a cpf underground "adults only" forum. you have to register with the site to even view that forum. i didn't register but i may just have to out of morbid curiosity... what on earth could people be discussing about flashlights that is of an "adults only" nature?! on second thought, maybe i don't even want to know, haha! :p

ok ya, maybe I should have been more clear, I love them in a platonic manner... I always have one in my pocket for emergencies, for example just last week the light's went out in my building's elevator and everyone started to freak out, click... Canuck to the rescue, lol. Not sure I'd want to read that adult only section on CPF either, might ruin my view of flashlights forever and then what would I do with my current collection of them? turn them all into mods and put them to my lips? that could be even worse!

Before we get too far off topic though... lets remember that stacking batteries can have dire consequences! and could result in horrible, horrible things, ranging from toothless grins to four fingered vapers. We have alternatives these days, better to go with VV/VW. This is just my opinion based on what I've read and seen on the internet and as we all know everything on the web is 100% true, if it isn't then I never should have ordered that jet pack! Play safe, vape smart!

Check out this bad boy. Selectable variable voltage OR wattage. 4 amps, 14 watts. Modular battery carriers, control head and rebuildable tanks and atomizers. I believe it'll wash your dog and repair your Provari as well. You might have to change the language on this page though. I forgot how I bookmarked it.

Or at least regulated voltage that offers some sort of protection from shorts and the like.

We have officially gone modular. This gear looks like a Provari killer.

It's some pretty impressive stuff. Problem is, I think you have to go to Russia, or at least Europe, to get it. The videos are really pretty cool, even though they're in Russian. Best as I can tell, a full set with a full blown set of tanks and attys runs about $280, which is pretty reasonable considering the price of a bare Provari and a good rebuildable atty.

Ok, just got my kick for the silver bullet, I like it and I'm looking forward to trying it with some different carts(1.7ohm single coil in the mail). I have a second kick on order now too and the extension with AW IMR 18650's to make it last longer between charges, I see now why stacking is no longer required, lol. I get the same vape with my 1.5ohm dcc as I do with the 2.5 ohm dc carts, awesome!

    VAPE ON!

I'd include darwin in the single battery category, though I could be wrong.
Though not technically vv, I suspect it is using a boost regulator (has to, if it's really a single battery).

The Darwin is absolutely VV. It just has a different user interface and some logic built in to set the voltage based on the user's desired wattage and the resistance of the atty/carto. You can hold the button down on a Darwin, spin the wattage wheel, and watch the voltage change on the display.

Most people prefer to call the Darwin and the Kick variable wattage devices, but I suppose if we were to get technical...

These devices are varying the wattage by adjusting the voltage based on the resistance of the atomizer/cartomizer being used.
So if we are being technical, they would certainly be variable voltage devices.

But we have to call them something else, so that we can distinguish them from devices that vary voltage only I guess.

First off the Darwin utilizes a Pair (2) Lipo 900 mah battery packs so it has 2 Batteries in it,,, also it is variable wattage how I see it, you up the watts and as you do of course the voltage and Amps will increase but your adjusting the Watts which is what increases the heat to the coil.

    Actually not quite.
With a wattage controled device at a set wattage if you lower the resistance of the atty/carto the voltage will go down, but the amperage goes up. If you rase the resistance of the atty/carto the voltage goes up but the amperage goes down.

    2ohm atty @ 8watts = 4v @ 2a (lower volts higher amps)
    3ohm atty @ 8watts = 4.9v @ 1.6a (higher volts lower amps)

So the voltage and amperage don't quite rise and fall with a wattage change as a person might think.
