Rocket - pardon me for asking - since I can never tell when the ladies here are serious or joking - are you really a rocket scientist??:confused:

My college major was aerospace engineering, and I specialized in solid propellant rocket design- so, yes. However, much to my disappointment, I've rarely actually worked as a true "rocket scientist" since graduation.

I've done satellite operations, aviation, and now shuttle operations. You gotta go where the jobs are, ya know?

But it was a great field of study - fascinating stuff for geeks like me!

Today's trivia - the cross-section of a solid propellant rocket helps determine its efficiency. If you were to cut a rocket cross-wise (imagine slicing carrots for stew), the optimal cross-section for maximum thrust is a star pattern. Kinda like slicing star fruit.

I just think that's so elegant. Believe it or not, engineering can be that way sometimes. It's not all pocket protectors! LOL!

On a totally unrelated note, I just gotta crow here. Today marks my one month anniversary off tobacco!!! Yay!!!

Thanks to my 510 for this milestone. This is the longest I've gone without tobacco since 1985.

So Rocket, gotta ask -

Have you had someone say to you (your background unbeknownst to them), well it's not hard to figure out, after all it's not rocket science!

Please tell me you've had the satisfaction of seeing someone's face get all  after you tell them what you do for a living. Being a woman and all to boot would have to be like icing on the cake.

Usually I tell them, "Well, I AM a rocket scientist, and I can't figure it out!" That shuts them up.

Then again, my friends call me Space Cadet......

My name is a mix up from names in a fantasy book series written by David Eddings.

My avatar is me, took it when I got my new webcam and was playing with the fun filters. My boyfriend almost got annoyed when we were on skype and I kept changing the filter all the time. :D It was new, it was fun, I had to try it out!

I've seen David Eddings books, I don't know if I've read them though...too many authors to keep track of lol. I've looked over his booklist and none look familiar, sound familiar but don't look familiar...sound good may have to pick up a few at the library. *snuggles down into comfy reading chair at the thought of another good author to binge read* I love series books.
