I'll go first:

So I started smoking when I got my first job at Target (long, LONG time ago), you know the story, everyone around at work is smoking and you just kind of pick up the habit. Eventually I noticed that I couldn't sing or run very well after a couple years, but at that point I was a slave to the nicotine. So one day while I was visiting my local glass shop, I noticed that they had put in a big display for ecigs. I picked up a rechargeable lookalike (yes, I know) which is where I started my descent down the rabbit hole. It wasn't long before I moved on to a generic ego-twist and had been using those with protanks until just recently when I decided to go full out and got myself a sigelei and have been obsessed with building mods since.

Since my first ecig, which was about 4 years ago, I have only had 2 actual analog cigarettes and can exercise and sing again and this was going from half a pack to a pack a day.

Tried blu starter pack to save money(didn't know any better)what a joke.batteries didn't last cartridges wouldn't last, just not satisfied.never saw a VAPE SHOP before I drove by one in my neighborhood,so I stopped in.picked up my first VAPE.itaste click. At first thought this is awesome! Two weeks later , sub ohm on a istick50w.now at two month mark and lovin it!!

I smoked for 25+ years, anywhere from a pack up to 2 packs per day, and also had tried everything to quit with no success. I loved smoking but hated what it was doing to me.

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh one evening on the way home and he was talking about his ecigarette and how it gave him the pleasure of smoking without the negatives.

When I got home and told my wife about it she encouraged me to give it a try. Rush had mentioned his favorite was from a company called Volcano so I found them online and ordered a Magma kit. When it came in a few days later I charged it up and walked outside, where I always smoked, and tentatively (and skeptically) took my first vape. That first hit gave me hope that this could work.

I vaped some while continuing to smoke for a few days when one morning I woke up and went out to light the first one of the day. As soon as I lit it, it tasted horrible. That was my last cigarette ever, over 4 1/2 years ago.

Welcome to the forum!

2+PAD for 26 years. I was walking up the stairs to my apartment one day and got winded half way up. I said eff this, I have to quit. I went to the analog shop down the street and bought a cheap little 300 mAh blister pack set up and some horrible juice and hated it, but stuck with it. The next week it was a protank 2. No better. The next week I found a vape shop and got a Nautilus and a Vision spinner and some decent house juice and loved it. Haven't smoked a log since the first day on the el cheapo from the cig shop, but I almost went back to them a dozen times before I got the Nautilus. About once a month I spend $50 - $100 on new gear now and justify it by remembering I was spending about $75/wk on the stinkies.

How or why did I get into vaping? I really don't know. I never intended to.
40 year smoker and just I just picked up my weekly carton of cigarettes. Driving home, with nothing else to do, I decided to stop a vape shop about 10 miles away. Very clean shop run by a nice couple. I figured, what the heck, I could use this thing at work. For those that don't know, smoking while employed at a hospital is not the easiest thing to do. Trying to smoke at work while it's raining/snowing/freezing requires a bit of creativity.
Well it took 3 weeks including 4 days at a casino to go through that carton. I ran out of cigarettes 3 days ago but I do have some peach flavored juice that has a wow factor of 10. Compare that to my cigs that had a wow factor of 2 (at best), yeah, I can get into this.

I started dipping in High School. By the time I graduated I was at 3 cans a day of Copenhagen Snuff or Copenhagen Mint when that finally came out. I started smoking Camel Turkish Royals when I was in the Army and when I was medically discharged a year later, I started rolling my own. Never went back to either, I still have 3 cans of Copenhagen Mint that's a year old and unopened in a drawer. Been vaping for a year now. No comment on singing for me haha, I was terrible before and I still am.

Smoked a pack+ a day for 10-15 years or so, since freshman year in high school. Tried everything to quit, but just couldnt do it. Then about maybe 2009-10, I saw cigalike reviews on youtube and I thought they were great. The guy reviewing was really blowing big clouds from the little cigalike. It was a Revolver brand, so I ordered the kit. Used it maybe 2 days and did nothing for me. Kept smoking. Fast forward to Dec of 2013. I went to the revolver site again, and bought another cigalike kit. And this time, I actually got a satisfying vape for a few weeks. I didnt know other devices besides cigalikes existed at this time until I ran out of pre filled cartos, and Revolver was out of stock due to the Holidays. Did some googling and found me an eGo battery and a Kanger T3 I believe and loved it, got a few of them. Used em for about 3-4 months and went to my first Vape Bash and found me an MVP and Kanger Mini Protank, which I used for another 6+ months until the Subtank craze started. I was never really one to build on a Kayfun, so was excited to see pre made subohm coils. Now I have TOO many different sub tanks, but the good thing is that I have been cigarette free almost 19 months now, and have a shelve full of devices lol.

Smoked for 16 years, most of that was pack a day. Quit for 9 months, longest I ever went, then started up again. I have a medical condition with my eyes that cig smoke makes worse, so I know I needed to quit. BF had a PV, I called it his crutch, but he offered it to me when he bought a new one, then decided just to get me a new one too. That was two weeks ago, haven't had a cig since the 9th. Don't know why I would want to go back, the flavor in the vape is far better than cigs ever were.

Smoked cigarettes for 25-26 years ... 1 pack a day ... to two packs ... to three ... to five ... back to two ... etc.

Quit cigs using hypnosis 4 1/2 years ago & it stuck, but life happened and the only thing I wanted was a smoke. That was December 4th of 2014. In a couple of days, I was back to a two pack a day habit. Something had to be done, so with like 8 cigs left, I bought a VV ego battery (Kanger) and an aspire clearo & some high (32mg/ml) juice. Two days later & I was done with the cigs.

The pipes I smoked, I've had a couple of since, while fishing. Still nice on occasion.

I smoked for 14 years. 3 packs a day. I was constantly gagging and coughing. Sometimes gagging to the point of... well... I'm sure you can guess. (Hugging the toilet.) After a third friend of mine recommended vaping, I thought I'd try it out. From the minute I started vaping, I put down smoking. Haven't had a cigarette since and I don't want one either. Yay to all of us!

I orginally checked out vaping in 2009 or 2010 because I was sick of getting cigarette ash in my keyboard while I was gaming (I was a die-hard PC gamer for a while there). Hated the setup I had though so I eventually stopped (rocked the old school Maverick 510). Then I tried it again in 2013 to try and cut back on smoking, because I knew I didn't smoke as much last time I tried vaping (this time it was an Ego style - can't remember what model). I liked it, but getting replacement parts shipped to my area was difficult because I literally lived in the middle of nowhere.
This time around I got into it because my boyfriend spontaneously decided we were quitting smoking. I came home from work on a Friday and he had purchased a sweet little Kangertech EVOD 2 starter kit, we moved over to the Aspire Vision Spinner pretty quick because we like the variable voltage. Just last weekend we upgraded to the Nautilus Mini. We're lucky this time around because there is a brand new dedicated vape shop (in addition to a couple head shops that sell personal vaporizers) local to us, and anything we can't find here we can travel a couple hours to bigger cities to get.

I was a pack a day plus smoker since I was 20, I turn 31 this year.
And my boyfriend has been smoking since he was 14 years old...
Neither one of us has had a 'real' cigarette in almost a month, but we do still buy those single cigarillos once in a while.

Prior to my fella buying our starter kit I had been looking into vaping as an option to cut down or quit smoking because my Dad and little brother managed to do so, they've both been quit since January 2014.

So yeah, that's my story.

Smoked menthols 38 years, tried several quit smoking products, failed, returned back to smoking cigs over the years. A few yrs ago, I had a severe case of bronchitis, cold turkey for 1.5 yrs, then started smoking again. Afterwards had a PFT, results were outstanding. I thought this is the perfect time to quit smoking, now my lungs are still completely healthy. Approx 3 months ago, family member had an E cig, ask'd if I could try, and was surprised how much I enjoyed. Went out, bought a starter kit, haven't smoked a cig since.

For the last six years or so, I had several problems with other vices. I kept trying to kick those bad habits, but kept going back. One of my friends told me to look into an e-cig, and I kept thinking he was nuts. Ended up finally giving it a chance, and now I can happily say I am well beyond that part of my life, and now I just happily vape on. I had originally planned on using vaping as a stepping stone and eventually kick it, too. I have sort of deviated from that plan, though. I am sure it would be healthier to stop vaping, too, but I enjoy the crap out of it, so I am willing to take the risks that come with it.

Well, Mine is interesting. I Smoked for 10 years... Usually just under a PAD. When I was in Canada, Smokes were 10 dollars a pack.
I moved to Japan. Smokes are $4.60 a pack here.
My students started saying I stink. I thought it was because of the smoking. So I hate being the guy who stinks. So I decided I needed to quit. So I bought a setup. and then another. And 5 days later i stopped. It was a conscious choice. I still wanted a cig. I just chose not to.
and then I bought more gear.

Little did I know, Foreigners just smell bad to Japanese people. Had nothing to do with the Cigs. Its mainly the use of deodorant that smells bad, since Japanese dont tend to smell that bad, They dont use deodorant.

I was a 2 PAD smoker of stinkies.. My husband's sisters were here for a visit and we planned on a long car trip. I knew I couldn't smoke in the car and if I couldn't smoke, I would kill one or all of them, so on the way to pick them up, I ran in a new Vape shop, told them my predicament and they set me up with an EVOD asap, filled it with 18mg nic juice and I vaped away in the car all day, happy as a clam. Haven't smoked since. yay. Getting a pretty Stormtrooper white Kanger Subbox for my birthday :)

I keep getting guilt tripped by my kids for smoking!

I've been about at a PAD for the last 11 years and a smoker for almost 13. At 27 years old I feel like that's a little ridiculous, and my older kids have been begging me to quit practically since they learned to talk. I always have grand ideas of self improvement and vaping happened to be one of them (so far it's at least faring better than my unused gym membership and long-forgotten sewing table). I have the willpower of a flea, so quitting's been a huge struggle and sticking with vaping has also had its ups and downs, but I'll figure it out eventually!
