I was an addict. I loved smoking. "Smoking kills" they say so the bread does was my answer Do you know anyone stayed alive who ate bread all his life? I had many irritating examples and was happy with cigarettes. My collagues all imagined me as a man with a keyboard mouse cigarettes and tea. I was addicted to tea too. still I am.
But 40 years lovely rolling tobacco 30gr daily, began to betray me. I could not walk a decent 100-200 meters without a breathing break. Still I was thinking what the hack will I live another 60 years to worry? It was not to live longer it was living comfortably whatever left. So I decided to look for alternatives which will substitude for afternoon cigarettes. Nobody could stop my morning ceremony with tea+cigarettes. I looked e-cigs some mentioned like devil others would pray god to give thanks now that they found vaping. well I thought if they do this job I would try for the afternoons. One day when I was going to tobacco vendor I rolled 7 spare cigarettes for the way and went there. Asked the guy if he knew anything about e-cigs. He told me they have been selling them. By the way the area is very famous with cheating. If there are 10 cheaters in the whole word, one of the first five is a man from tahtakale. :) so I decided I would try He prepared a pack for me and offered me one to taste the strength of nic. first drag I inhaled to my lung and was about to die (I think I had devoured 18mg/ml to my lung) He explained me to collect in the mouth and afterwards inhale to lungs.
It was perfect. I thought if there was this why should one smoke? I bought all the paraphernelia and went home without touching 7 ready cigarettes. If I hadnt bought a fake liquid I would still keep them but 7 went while looking for liquids. I found this forum and I began to learn more about vaping I also found turkish forum and it was the changing of the situation. They had sellers too.
Feeling the good effects of vaping, I began to suggest people enthusiastically about quitting cigarettes by vaping But they are mostly fool box believers so they ignored me. One of them told "you are a e-cig seller arent you?"
I was suggesting because if a 40 years hand rolling smoker can quit every one can too.

If you just allow me to explain for the beginners or intenders The magic is finding the right liquid not the device. 80% of vaping is liquid and remaining part is device. I began with a clone of a clone ce type atomiser and a clone of a clone joytech battery which writes 1100mah but 650 in fact, still worked because I was lucky to find the right liquid.

Regulated vaping was the key to me quitting smoking.

I tried to quit back in 2009 but technology hadnt caught up to my addiction......yet.

I came back to vaping a couple of years later using an EGO T and fell of the wagon 6 months later.

I loved the first puff or two off a fully charged battery but over the course of the day it would get worse and worse while my craving for cigarettes got stronger.

Then I found regulated vaping, which guaranteed the first hit would be just as good as the last.

I did a couple of other things to help myself quit this last time. Like putting my PV right beside me when I went to sleep at night so it would be the first thing I grabbed in the morning (I still do this).

And I also kept an ashtray full of wet cigarette butts on my side porch. Every time I had a craving I would go smell that.

Sounds gross but it works.

My story?

Starting at the beginning... I HATED smoking for about the last ten years that I had the habit. I tried almost everything - Chantix, Zyban, gum, patches, lozenges, nic inhalers, and the "cheap" gas station/convenience store e-cigs.

Nothing worked, the longest I went was when I was on the Chantix, but my insurance company would only pay for one month's prescription. (?????)

I happened to be on YouTube one day and ran across a Vaping video. I was intrigued, and spent most of a weekend binge watching vape-related videos, and that led me to start lurking here. A day or two later, I placed my first order for two Ego C-Twists, two Kanger PT2s, and a selection of sample-sized liquids from a couple of online vendors.

The day they arrived, I got home from work with 6 cigarettes left. I charged up the Egos, filled a Protank, slapped it on the Ego, and started vaping. The next morning I had two cigarettes left. I smoked those and headed to work with my vape setup, and haven't looked back since!

A man after my own heart -- neither Turkey nor the US is *commonly* associated with tea drinking -- but I was a 10-cup-a-day tea drinker, Twinings English Breakfast (black tea) for MANY years. After I'd been vaping for about 6 weeks, I had to knock off about 80% of that -- still have 2 huge mugs in the morning -- because it was contributing to my terrible dehydration problem, along with vaping. It was either tea or vaping, and I sure wasn't going back to those stinky cigarettes. :D

I smoked for 39 yrs, because I had a superstition that I needed to quit before I smoked for 40 yrs; if not for starting to vape last year, I'd now be OVER a 40-yr smoker.

And I'm still working on trying to get my breathing back -- making progress, but I'm still asthmatic, even if I don't smoke anymore. :thumb:

like most "commited" smokers i waited til my choice was quit or die. my lungs hurt so bad i couldn't sleep and life was just miserable.i knew i would never be able to put them down successfully and i knew of no substitute that wasn't simply a temporary solution.

2 ladies at work that were making the transition kept telling how great vaping was and i got to see their progress on a daily basis. my health got to the point i realized i had to put em' down or face certain death. i made up my mind to make the switch and MAKE it work for me.
i bought an Ego starter kit and never looked back a little over 2 years ago. the key to my success was being at a point where i actually had no choice, now it seems so silly to have been so hard headed about something so bad for me and my family.

my advice is to pretend you are me. the next cig might be the last one before you get to find out what eternity is like without smokes.
good luck.

Funny, I was just tying to stop smoking in the house (around the other 1/2) and was really not quite sure the whole 'vaping thing' was for me or not. To be fair, I should mention that I still use OTHER nicotine replacement - losenges - while at work. The "problem" with the losenges is that its rather incompatible with consuming fluids and eating. (which is fine while at my desk at work)

I was not really planning on quiting - after all I had 2.5 cartons of smokes and had just opened a fresh pack. In the end I only smoked 3 cigarettes out of that pack and gave the 2.5 cartons away. That was back in April 2015.

I just wanted to be able to stop going out and freezing to death on the porch to smoke -- wanted something to use in the house. But it didn't take long for vaping just completely replace all smoking. :thumb:

In Turkey tea is important. It is drank by "thin belly glasses". in some places they drink tea and bite a sugar piece but whatever way it should be with a thin belly glass. The cup would not give its pleasure.
I take tea after my late mother she used to mix several types to make her own brand. I am content with black tea enriched by one spoonfull earl grey preferably Ridgeways. And drinking tea with cigarettes I took after my late granny. She used to smoke one delicate cigarette together with tea, after meals. She used to call it "Keyif tea" Keyif is used for "happy" in Turkish but comes from cafe. Cafe tea whatever it means :)
I can happily (With cafe :) ) going on my tea cigarette ceremony not with a cigarette but with e-cigarette.
Sorry to hear that you can not get your non smoking health back. I seem to have most of them back I go uphill and once climbed a metro stair due to its failure. on which I would have died if I smoked still.

My neighbor was vaping 3 months before I was, and since it interested me (especially when I became aware of how much money he wasn't spending anymore..) I researched the whole thing. One day when I was on the road I smoked the last cig in the pack and of course my instant thought was to get another when I could. Later that afternoon I was in the smoke shop to buy another pack of coffin nails, there were 2 or 3 people ahead of me, so I was looking at the various vape stuff they had there. I ended up walking out with a CE4 eGo starter kit and a bottle of juice for less than $20. Within the next day or so I realized that I hadn't wanted a cigarette. I've been vaping and not smoking ever since.

Got few puffs of my 24mg ejuice with my basic gear each time I was craving for a cig, starting first after waking up in the morning. Started running hardly 0.25 miles, swimming 70 yards straight and progressively moved up to 5 miles daily running and 700 yards swimming within a few weeks. Upgraded my gears and ejuices, watching my heart rate going down, my lung clearing up the tar, my breathing improving, clearing the psychological reflex of smoking. I am loosing the need for smoking. Vaping is not a smoking cessation therapy, it's just more enjoyable and much better in every ways.

My vaping journey actually came unexpectedly, taking the trash can to the road.

A contractor who also has a family business in the e-juice industry introduced me to vaping, by first asking if I had a minute, I said sure, thought he wanted my opinion of his work. Rather he asked me to step on his truck & the first things he gave me was his business card & a CASSA pamphlet. Then he asked me how long I had been smoking, which was 37 years at the time. Then asked if I was interested in a way that didn't involve patches, gums, meds, therapy, etc. I told him yes, as I had tried many ways to quit & couldn't.

That's when he pulled out one of his mods & blew a huge cloud, and wow did it smell great! He then gave me my own disposable tip & had me try it, but dropped the wattage down. It was delicious, and we talked & vaped for close to 2 hours, was having a nicotine dizzy spell. Finally he left me with some samples & I purchased a 1100mAh starter kit that included a charger. Was down to my last half pack of analogs & waiting for my wife to get home so that I could get some, but never did. As soon as I carried everything inside, went outdoors for a smoke & it no longer tasted good, rather nasty & had been smoking the brand for 10+ years. The last three were sickening, so much that on the last, took three draws & crumpled it & placed in the outdoor ash can.

Since that day in November 2013, have never wanted for an analog again, for the first time in 37 years, I was free of tobacco. Started at 24mg nic, have cut down to 18mg, now am on 9mg & 12mg. My ultimate goal is 0mg, whether or not I get there, I don't worry about it, just cut back at my own pace.

Oh, and it would be improper of me to share my story & not tell you of the folks who made this possible. A family operation in the area without a B&M store, e-juices are hand delivered in the local area & mailed to those who orders. Coffee lovers will love the 11 O'Clock & Cappuccino blends.

Thanks to Vic & Glenda on the site above, I was able to accomplish what I in vain tried to do by myself & through doctors.

Well, I started smoking when I was not-quite-14; I was diagnosed with asthma when I was 24, so my breathing will never be what it was before I started smoking -- I was a child then, and didn't have asthma. But I keep working at it, and slowly, it improves. Any improvement at all, after 39 yrs smoking, is a huge boon that I never really looked for.
