How do I dilute and store 100mg PG base nicotine liquid to make safer

Hey there everyone. I just started vaping and decided I want to try my hand in making my own flavored liquids. I have a ton of questions but for now, I'll start with what I think may be a basic question. I just placed a pretty big order for DIY liquids....100mg PG base nicotine liquid, VG base, PG base, sweetener, ethyl maltol, a few 5ml bottles, a few 10ml bottles, a couple syringes and a handful of flavors. I keep reading and hearing how dangerous the 100mg nic liquid is and I'd like to cut it to maybe 50mg. 2 questions on that...where might I be able to find colored glass bottles (~30ml) locally? Do they sell these things at the Wal-Mart's or Hobby Lobby's or do I need to place another online order for them? Also, what do I dilute it with? Obviously it would be with either the PG or VG base. I ordered it in the PG base because I was looking to emulate the liquids I was buying locally, at least to start, which are 80%PG/20%VG. Should I just dilute it with more PG to keep it a PG based nic liquid and work with it from there? I've got the ejuice Me Up calculator and it looks like I'll just basically be doing a 50/50 mixture of the nic liquid and the base to dilute it to 50mg...simple enough. Does storage and age become an issue when I dilute it or is that just when flavor is added? I'm unable to store anything in the fridge or freezer (kids in the house) but I do have a decent sized safe to keep things dark and secure. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would mix it down to your regular 16ml strenght as you do your mixes. I just think your being to overly cautious. If you use the proper safety steps. Wear gloves and don't spill it all over and if you do spill a little clean it up right away so no kids or pets get into it. Keep it out of reach of kids and pets and you will be fine. I for one use 100ml NIC, don't wear gloves and have even got it on my hands from time to time and have never suffered ill effects.

This is what I did:

60ml of 100mg VG base
+
240ml of PG

in a 500ml brown glass bottle from MFS - Stored in the minifridge in my bedroom

Result 300ml of 20mg 80/20 unflavored juice - When you add flavorings, EM, the % can be a bit off, but I add around 10% flavoring

Final result - (net amount of juice, 10ml, 30ml, whatever) of 82/18 juice at 18mg/ml

there is no reason to dilute 100mg NIC base to any target level prior to storing.
It is best to use as is and make your target strength as you make your juice.

100mg NIC in 100% VG or PG is much easier to work with in the long run than diluting it first.

As target strength of 16mg juice would be 1.6ml of 100mg NIC base.
There is no further math needed to try and compensate for anything.

It is best to get 100% VG or PG depending on weather you are more a PG person or VG person.
So if you vape more VG than PG, I would recommend 100%VG Base NIC

as in,,,, if you vape a 30PG/70VG almost all flavors are PG based, so, you would get more of the PG out of the way with the flavorings

If you add 30% flavorings (like 10% Tobacco, 10% Caramel and a ratio that equals 10% of other flavors)
you have already hit your 30% PG target and won't have to add any to compensate.
If you are a more PG based Person, then you will have to add less PG, but your NIC Base can throw off the ratios depending on your tastes.
You may not get exactly 30/70 (that ratio comment is almost always PG/VG,, rarely VG/PG and should not be, So 80/20 would be 80%PG/20%VG),, anyway

Boston Round Bottles

Yes, use Amber bottles, it is my understanding that Amber is better than Cobalt, but cobalt should be fine in freezer, Green are not good

Store in the freezer, never the fridge for long term storage (6 months to 2 years or longer)
PG and VG will not freeze solid or expand.
Never ever store flavors or flavored ready to vape juice in the freezer or fridge, it can and most likely will go rancid quickly.
There are threads here about this.

There are many many threads here about this process.

And use that Calc, it is a life saver. I recommend playing witht he NIC Combine Calc as well, then play with the flavorings side and ratios before you start DIYing, it will save you in the long run to fully understand mixing with ratios.

Hm, that sounds like that would work for a 10mil bottle right? But what about a 15mil bottle and a 30mil bottle? Wouldn't that be a bit more? Or no?

Yes, I failed to state that is per 10ml's

However, the statement remains true.

It is easier to calulate and administer 100mg/100% of something than a 50/50 ratio or other ratio in the long run.
Even with a Calc.

Using the NIC Combine you will see how those off ratios can get tricky to measure out.
