How do I get more flavor/throat hit?

I'm using a small eGo right now and I've found that I've lost pretty much all taste... nothing is really strong enough to give me that throat hit that I'm looking for. I try new flavors and where I find they have little or no taste... someone else will find it to be very strong. I don't know... maybe I'm using it too much. I'm trying to quit analogs so I find that the minute an urge hits I grab my eGo and vape for a minute or two, but I do this all day long. Would a unit like a mod box (I'm still new to this so I'm not completely familiar with them) work better for me? Is there something I'm doing wrong or should be doing differently? Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm not really at a place where I can spend a lot of money on new systems & devices, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well there are a few things you can do. Get juice with a higher nicotine content as well as a mix of more PG, you will lose vapor that way though. You can use lower ohm cartos and attys. You could buy "bigger" mod that can handle 6v's or get a variable voltage pv. I am using a silver bullet and it is just find, however I have a provari on the way. Check out altsmoke.com.

I'm very happy with my eGo, but when I want to upgrade, I'll probably go with a Silver Bullet from AltSmoke. I just keep hearing amazing things about them, and there's like 350 rave reviews on the site. That's not that cheap of a unit, though. Question... what kind of carto/atty setup are you using on your eGo? And what type of juices are you using? Flavors are reaaaallly subjective. I've found some stuff to be almost tasteless, where others say they're strong, and vice versa. Have you tried anything that's sort of universally considered to be very strong, like Atomic Cinnacide from Tasty Vapors?

I'm just using (I guess) a standard eGo 900 unit with a 1.5 atty. I've been switching flavors up as well... going from menthol, banana & coffee to Killa Vanilla (High Gravity) which has a very strong flavor... but even those are leaving me craving more taste & hit at this point. They start off good, but by the end of the day it's like they barely have a taste.

Don't get discouraged, you're already ahead of the game.

Most will recommend an LR atty (you've tried that). You could increase nic content, but that could be bad if you're already getting your cravings curbed by whatever you're using now and induce a new set of problems like headaches from nic overload. Increasing the PG in your e-liquid will help both with taste & throat hit with the inverse result of less vapor production, which in my opinion isn't a big deal anyway. Shoot for 80% PG or so.

A higher voltage setup would give you a great boost. Even a 3.7v Riva battery or 3.8v kGo would give you more at little expense versus your ~3.2-3.4v eGo. Even if cost is an issue, you could get a Maxi Roughstack or Shine Mod with some of these batteries for some 6v action, but you'll need to use either ~3.0ohm cartos or dual-coils for that much voltage. You could do a box mod like this and get a nice 5v vape if 6v is too "hot".

All these recommendations are ~$50USD, & will definitely give you more kick. I feel your pain, my tastebuds are pretty shot as well & it wasn't until I tried a high voltage setup that I started really loving vaping.

Good luck, report back, we're all here for you.

EDIT: I forgot to add, sometimes juice flavors with inherently strong kick, like citrus/menthol/pineapple/cinnamon, tend to give your buds a nice jolt. I know you've tried menthol so maybe that's just reaching, but just a thought.

The silver bullet is awesome if your willing to spend the money.

If you dont want to do that, I would recommend a 3.7V mod. I have an E-Power 14650 and it gives me just what I need. Its very affordable and everying is replaceable so it keeps cost down. It also uses non-proprietary batteries which I think is a plus over the kGo/Riva. E-Power batteries cost $4 compared to Riva/kGo's that are $14-20 and the EPowers last a lot longer before they need to be replaced. Add some Ressurector cartomizers to it and I think youd fill that want for more throat hit and better flavor without spending much.

If you get the E-Power from CCV, you get a free 5pack of ressurectors, free 30ml juice of your choice, and free shipping.
Put in "ecf5off" and get 5% off your order too. Great deal for a quality 3.7V Mod

I really don't want to sound foolish, but I'm new to all of this so a lot of the items mentioned here (larger batteries, etc...) sound good, but I really don't know if those are things that I can buy that will work on my current device or whether I would need to buy a whole new unit completely. As I said, I'm using an eGo and I would like a stronger battery, but I'm not sure if I can buy one that will work with what I already have or whether I would just need to start fresh with a whole new system. I like the convenience that I get with my eGo and don't really want to deal with anything larger right now (I carry mine everywhere).

I've thought about going with a stronger nicotine level, but as Brainishiwa stated... I'm doing well on the level I'm on and I would hate to go higher (seeing as I would like to cut out the nicotine completely at some point). Right now I fluctuate between 14mg & 18mg of nicotine. I don't think I really want to go up to 24mg. Also, I have tried those flavors like cinnamon, but honestly... other than it being a little "warmer" I couldn't tell much different in the hit I was getting from it.

I know this sounds silly, but I really like the vapor part of vaping. That's why I'm reluctant to cut down on the VG... that vapor release is what helps me feel like I really am smoking (one of the reasons I've gone from a pack a day down to just two real cigarettes a day). I have ordered some products from Virgin Vapors and talked with one of the owners about what I was looking for and she suggested a few different ways to possibly get what I'm looking for as far as the taste and that throat hit. I don't know... maybe I just need to find a new vendor as far as the juice I'm using. Hopefully VV's products will help with what I'm looking for as far as that goes.

Just got mine a week or so ago, they are work horses. I use both 3.7 and 5 volts on it and absolutely love the solid construction.

Are you using carts or cartomizers? The ego is fine, but what I would recommend if you have a cart and atomizer (2 piece set up) try to put a few drops of liquid onto the atomizer, then fill the cart up. Also, try to eat then vape, does that do anything for you? I have found that I vape so much sometimes, I just need to reset my taste buds. Also, get a drip tip and an attomizer, drip 3 drops onto the atomizer and then let it sit for 30 seconds. Add 3 more drops, attach the tip and try that. You might have to try LR atomizers, but supposedly they will limit the life of the battery. I did this for a while and the LR attie really brought out more heat, throat hit and flavor.

I'm actually using almost everything you described. I use the regular 1.5 atomizer and drip tip and use about 3 drops of juice . I've also tried the tank & cartomizer, but I get almost NO taste out of those things. I think I may look into finding a bigger batter for the unit I have, but I think that... just maybe... I vape too much and my tastebuds are just fried. *sigh*

The ego is a good starter kit but neither the tanks or the atomizer-carts hit very hard. Simply buy a few ego mega sized dual cartomizers (avoid the clear ones they seem to crack real easily) and you'll get a much bigger hit.

The carts are like $2 a pop and will last a week or two per.

Now, the market's starting to mature and there's a lot of options after that. Do your research and find something that'll work for you. My current setup is ego/sun batteries with an ego booster for 4.7v and the new tank from Madvapes.

I could see myself getting a roughstack or a bullet or e-power (especially since I could still use the ego booster and just stick with the 3.7v batteries) one day for the cheaper battery options, but the form factor seems bulky to me. $8 2000+mah batteries seem like a really good think to have though.

Anyways, my advice since you already own stuff is to get about 3 or 4 of these
eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer Flat-Tip

And vape away, then figure out your long term solution if those aren't "quite" all the way there for you.

*edit*
I see before you said you've tried carts? The DC ones? There's a huge taste and vapor difference between them and say the tanks. The DC Carts will have more taste and more vapor by far. Also, you can throw money at the problem with the ego booster to up the voltage on the stuff you already own.

Thanks LRage... I'm going to order a couple of those and try them out. I do have one, but I don't think it is a dual coil atomizer. I bought some extremely strong (wow) minty-menthol to try in it and it is overpowering on the flavor (not so much on the throat hit) so I think I'm going to get a couple of these and try something a little less harsh and see how it works.

I don't know, I vape constantly through out the day. When I hit that point, I usually eat something and it recharges my taste buds. Also, something minty might help.

Yes. That is key, I think. Obviously tons of h2o, and a peice of gum or hard candy or a tic tac or something seems to "reboot" my taste buds.
Brushing your teeth is'nt such bad advice either. Can't do that too many times..lol

I spoke to the guy that we get our supplies from and asked him about going to a stronger battery or even a stronger nicotine level. He let me try both by giving me some 24 mg juice and by loaning me his stronger battery to try with my ego. I tried both this weekend, but I think that I'm just going to stick with what I have been doing because those two things seem too harsh. The stronger battery & the higher nicotine (not even at the same time) both give me a harsh throat hit that just isn't pleasant. I've been using all sorts of different flavors during the day (never sticking to just one or two), but I think I'm going to lay off certain flavors for a few days and let my taste buds rejuvenate themselves a little in between flavors and see if that helps. I guess I just vape too much and it just kills the taste of things for a while. Also, I have stopped drinking as much water as I was when I first started... maybe that's the key to it all so I'm going to get back on the H2O wagon as well.
