I have this mini protank 2 that I used to vape like 1ml of a blueberry flavor in and the smell will not go away, don't know what to do with it. The smell is on everything, the tank, the wick, the drip tip, and it changes the taste of everything else I put in it. I tried to vape a peach flavor, it tastes like blueberry, I tried unflavored liquid and it tastes like blueberry. I tried shaking all the left over liquid out, then let it sit for a few days to air out, didn't work at all. I was going to rinse it out but I read somewhere on here it's bad to get water on the coil? What's a way to get this smell out? The tanks made of stainless steel and glass, so water is ok there, but what to use on the head? Should I just keep vaping unflavored liquid and hope it goes away?

Completely disassemble the tank, including the seal rings. (I've found that most of the time the flavor/smell is lurking underneath/on the seal rings.) Soak the parts (minus the coil) in warm water with a bit of dish soap, rinse very well, let dry, reassemble. Rinse coil in hot water, let dry. Pull the chimney from your coil, remove top wicks, and examine the coil itself. If it's gunked up, perform a dry burn, rinse again, let dry, replace top wick with a clean one, ( you can use cotton, rayon, silica, etc.) or simply replace old coil with a new one. Hope this helps.

to ecf dopamine1. So glad you are here. I have had this issue before and I soaked mine in Everclear. (cheap Vodka would also work). This helped me and I hope it helps you too. :)

The folks here are right with their different methods of thorough cleaning. If igs bad you may have to rewick or replace if you cant rewick /rebuild. I havent had this issue with blueberry but the mt baker caramel candy I tried is invasive and extreemly unpleasant to me. I occassionaly mix it in small quantity with other flavorsbut it is hard to get rid of.

Good luck

Between the wife and I we have about 7 ProTank2 Mini's. Every few weeks I take half of them and totally break them down (unscrew them at every point, remove glass, O rings, coil, drip tip, everything) and soak the parts overnight in the cheapest unflavored Vodka I can find. Next morning I put them in soapy water and let them soak for about an hour then rinse, dry and reassemble.

Then I replace the coils. For coils I take them apart removing the chimney and wicks and put them in a small container of Vodka and let them soak then wash and rebuild, putting in new wire and wicks. I keep our old coils so I always have a supply of rebuilds available.

The next day I do the other half of our Minis.

I only have to do this about once per month or so. Sounds labor intensive but it really isn't; actual "hands on" time is about 20 minutes.

We label our tanks and usually keep the same flavors in them. If we need to change a flavor I generally do as others have said, rinse with very hot water, dry burn and refill.

Good luck!

BTW: Blueberry is my favorite mix! I have several juices that have blueberry in them!

You should be able to wash the tank in warm water and eradicate the smell unless there are oils involved (oils are bad for lungs, BTW). Changing the atomizer coil may be the only solution. There's a 2mm silica wick in there that may take days to burn off all the blueberry and washing the head and dry burning may not fix the problem. Metal parts that don't clean up in hot water might require an alcohol bath.

Back in the days when I vaped cartomizers a lot, I'd just dedicate one to a juice and put one of those tiny colored rubber bands around it to mark it. For those lingering juices, you might want to buy a couple of packs of cartos and try just vaping strong juices in those. That, or buy a Protank for each type of juice you vape.

Take it apart and give an overnight soak in either everclear or vodka. Then give it a rinse in the same. let it dry for a day or two to make sure all the moisture is evaporated. Should do the trick.

I've run into this same problem of flavors remaining after cleaning. Cinnamon was one major culprit. Here's my tank cleaning procedure:
1) clean the countertop with Clorox
2) lay down double layer of paper towel
3) breakdown all tanks and remove their o-rings
4) rinse everything under hot tap water
5) put all parts (glass / metal / o-rings) in a small glass cup and add distilled water
6) put everything in the microwave for 45 seconds until I see bubbles in the water.
7) remove glass from micro and very gently agitate the glass cup. An hour later, step 8
8) repeat step 6 one more time.
9) remove everything and let it dry on the cleaned countertop with dual layer of paper towel. Always lay another paper towel ontop of everything that's drying for a day.

I like to use distilled water because it's mineral free and won't leave any mineral residue behind while drying.

Sometimes the extreme flavors will migrate into the silicone o-rings and will be almost impossible to clean/remove. At this point, it's just better to replace the o-rings. I get 5 o-rings online for $1.09 USD, so it's almost nothing to replace cost wise.

Once and a while if I need sterilization of my tanks due to contamination I'll use 90 proof vodka. Most vodka is 80 proof, so I have to pay special attention to the 'proof' and make sure it's 90 not 80. I was told by 3 women who work at those nail salons that to sterilize instruments the alcohol content needs to be at least 45% or 90 proof. Thankfully I like vodka, so a bottle is dual use for me. Lol.
