I smoked my first one yesterday and stopped because I was unsure of how it effected my Nardil (for anxiety and depression). I only went through 1 e-juice thingy (150 puffs)

Nardil is a MAOI (like tobacco) and probably potentiated the already high nicotine e-cig's addictive tendencies.

I haven't smoked all day but I've been craving it so.

Listen to your body... ok let's look at this.. cigs have maoi in them ecigs do not so if you smoked and were fine then you will be defo fine on ecigs...

You were getting more nicotine from cigs than vape so again you will be more than ok..

Bottom line is if you were ok on cigs you will be more than ok on e-cigs

Oh cigarette also have pg. In them!!!!

Dont think as much, chill relax listen to your body and vape :D

Oh, i've never smoked. I just figured (via the tried and trusted method of Cracked.c0m) that nicotine=good for your brain.

I'd be typing this with one hand right now if I knew for sure they wouldn't dull the effects of my Nardil. It gets to be even more of a migraine when I take into account the lyrica and Nuvigil I plan to take in the following months.

So stressfull.. Could reaaally use a.. NO! I mustn't..!

I didn't realize you never smoked. Why would you be craving a smoke?

NOT a good idea to self medicate while on pharmas without speaking to your Dr.

I'm not trying to rack up posts, I might even repost this thread in other parts of the forum.

I'd really appreciate some constructive feedback. Does the nagging want just go away after a while? Do I need to stand infront of a mirror and speak in tongues or perform virgin sacrifice?

It's just a pet peeve but it's a pervasive one that I could do without

Well, not trying to be too blunt here but I don't think the issue lies with the e-cig.

If you were not a smoker previously, you shouldn't be having even noticeable cravings after your beginning consumption of nicotine. In fact, it *should* be quite the opposite. If you took in any reasonable amount (1 cart is considered reasonable if you vaped properly I imagine) you should likely be experiencing some minor nausea, perhaps headache, feel your heart beating faster. The first few times you take nicotine, like alcohol, there are some negative effects to your body before your body (and mind) becomes addicted to it and then starts to crave it.

Personally, sounds more like the issue is in your head. Not trying to be too blunt here, but you sound like you're obsessing which tells me it's far more about a personality disorder than anything like nicotine cravings.

I'm seconding the wise advice. Don't use vapes, or nicotine unless you already WERE a smoker. No need, generally not worth it. Especially in combination with the meds you listed which I don't even know what they do.

As for solving your pet peeve. Go outside, take a walk. Go read a book. Do something else that actually absorbs a good portion of your attention for a while.

What is Nardil (phenelzine)?

Phenelzine is a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) that works by increasing the levels of certain chemicals in the brain.

Phenelzine is used to treat symptoms of depression that may include feelings of sadness, fear, anxiety, or worry about physical health (hypochondria). This medication is usually given after other anti-depressants have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms. Phenelzine is not for treating severe depression or bipolar disorder (manic depression).

Phenelzine may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Read more at Nardil (phenelzine) medical facts from Drugs.com
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lyrica is Pfizer's trade name for a drug called pregabalin. Pregabalin is an anticonvulsant (anti-seizure) drug that is often used to treat neuropathic pain as well as partial seizures that are common in temporal lobe epilepsy. In Europe, pregabalin is also approved to treat generalized anxiety disorder.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
What is Nuvigil?

Nuvigil (armodafinil) is a medication that promotes wakefulness.

Nuvigil is used to treat excessive sleepiness caused by sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or shift work sleep disorder.

Nuvigil may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Sounds to me like the LAST thing you need to be doing is picking up any kind of bad habits. The skeptic in me is calling BS on this one, as those medications don't make logical sense to be used together or pass the common sense test.

If you're joking, stop. If you're NOT joking, put down the e-cig and worry about following your doctor's good advice. I apologize if you do have real mental or emotional issues to struggle with, but in my opinion many of these prescription medications are very over-prescribed. Particularly anti-depressants.

I will redeem myself to you guys! I don't wanna be seen as some forum deviant.

Okay, so.. due to the lack of definitive answers, i've decided to go about with my own brand of pharmacology justice!

http://www.socialanxietysupport.com/forum/f30/nardil-questions-contact-me-195279/ First off, this is where I got the motivation to use Nardil augmented with Lyrica and Nuvigil. I do suffer from severe social anxiety, dysthymia, mental dullness, and anhedonia but that wasn't originally a concern in this thread.

Nardil is what I take for my whole mental shebang and the Lyrica is suppose to increase it's effect on GABA, some claim that Nardil doesn't do a good enough job in that sense. The Nuvigil is to combat Nardil fatigue and sedation (probably from Nardil inhibiting melatonin) and further increase motivation by boosting dopamine.

Nardil, being a non selective MAOI, will prevent the breakdown of the added GABA and dopamine hence making both of these drugs logical augmentations.

Now, I have no question about the compatibility and interactions of these 3 drugs (Nardil, Lyrica, Nuvigil), my only concern is the nicotine in the E-cigs and how they effect all of drugs I intend to take, like if the further increase of even MORE dopamine and Epinephrine due to MAO inhibition, or the added noradrenaline to that of the Nuvigil might have a negative impact with the efficacy of my drug cocktail.

Until I am certain, I've put away my E-cig away from me and the top of my drawer (I don't want to one day discover my cat puffing away)

I'm not quite sure what to make of you. Are you prescribing YOURSELF prescription drugs?

Ah, I didn't notice that you were in the Phillipines. Here in the US if you're a doctor or pharmacist and you start prescribing things to yourself I'm pretty sure you can face some serious fines and jail time.

Either way, I have a better prescription for you in all seriousness:

1) Some of the conditions you are listing are SERIOUS PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDERS. You need to go be evaluated and properly diagnosed by a licensed Psychiatrist. Not a psychologist. A psychiatrist.

2) If you are self-prescribing these medications...STOP. Unless you're a doctor yourself and not just pulling these words up from links on Web MD. Even if you ARE a doctor, STOP anyway and get a second opinion from an outside licensed psychiatrist. Or three.

3) Many times depression and anxiety disorders (barring the most severe cases) can be very effectively lessened or even negated by lifestyle changes. Some of these changes are simple, such as eating a more balanced diet and getting some light to moderate exercise and increasing your water intake and getting outdoors to be in the sun.
One other extremely effective FREE, HELPFUL and NONPHARMACEUTICAL way that many people have constructively dealt with many types of depression is to get out and help others. Join a volunteer club, or if you like dogs and cats go spend some time helping out at the animal shelter. Animals are much easier to deal with for people who have social anxiety disorders, and knowing that you are helping animals in need boosts your mood significantly. Helps the animal, helps you feel better = win win and no drugs.

4) Join a support group. I'm sure you can easily find one that's near you. You are not the only one who might be struggling with these types of disorders. There is strength in numbers and greater success with a support network. Read this forum, this is a PERFECT example of how positive support is helping people to deal with their struggles regarding addiction to tobacco, as well as addictive personality disorders perhaps.

There is your prescription. And I won't even charge you for it. Go forth and take small steps to take control of your life and your mind. I can't be sure if you are serious in all this or if you are yanking chains. But I'm not willing to take that chance. Follow this advice and I can virtually guarantee you that you will see dramatic improvement in your life.

After that, pick up vaping if you want to.
