I understand your little spat perfectly. Been in one of those off and on for the last 33 years, since my dad died when I was a kid. I also understand the giving it up for God part. In (or with - depending upon your chosen version of the Bible) God, all things are possible. That kind of thinking can give you just the little bit of extra strength you need when temptation is at its strongest.
I would tend to look at it like this: "I used to smoke at least a pack a day. Now, I'm smoking 3 partial cigarettes a day. So, in general, I've cut down from 20 or more cigarettes to maybe 1 or 2 overall. That in itself is quite an accomplishment and I should be proud of that. Maybe soon, I'll be able to lay them aside altogether."
Don't punish yourself for perceived failings. Rejoice in yourself for what you have accomplished instead.
