I am so proud of myself for being smoke-free for 11 days, but it seems like some people just want to knock you down anyway.

Whenever some one asks how the no-smoking is going, I enthusiastically reply how many days it's been, and the first response I get is "so when are go gonna stop using that e-cig thing?" Well......... I don't want to stop!! I might eventually like to get down to zero nic, but I LIKE the e-cig! I find it relaxing and enjoy the different flavors.

I have given up explaining the benefits of e-cigs because apparently these people will not believe it. So my question is, how do you deal with these people. Does anyone have any great witty comebacks?

If there is 4000 chemicals per cig and you smoked 20 a day. Your skipping out on 80,000 chemicals, and it is a choice to smoke or not as an adult.

I'm making a choice, because this is something I do enjoy. Doing it this way is a lot better for my health, and the people around me.

I could even give up nicotine, and still keep doing something that I enjoy to do. I bet you have habits that your not happy with yourself either. Maybe not eating right, and maybe not getting your daily exercise in your daily which could be even worse for you than my E-Cig.

LOL could work.....I have just said, hey I could be smoking the real thing. Which do you want around you?

You just have to pick up on one of their bad habits. I had the same thing happen with a neighbor. I don't drink. My neighbor asked one day when I was going to "get real" and give that thing up. I pointed to the beer can in his had, and asked when he's going to give *that* up. He didn't have an answer.

I haven't gotten any crap for this yet, then again the only people that see me with it are my good friends, they all smoke, and they all understand I was just looking for a healthier alternative with better flavor, than to quit. I have no intentions on quitting, you never know what might happen. I've been vaping since april but still smoke 1-3 cigs a day depending on the situation... I think I've only gone one day without a real cig so far, it wasn't bad, but I occasionally like the crappy tasting chemical induced horrible smelling slow killing cancer causing cig.

I don't know the answer, but I can totally understand your feelings about this. The response to my two weeks of non-smoking and using the e-cig, has been to say the least, underwhelming. I also don't understand why these things aren't sold everywhere and their praises sung on high. Smoking has become so vilified that even seemingly intelligent people aren't willing to learn about the differences between smoking and vaping. It's all the same to them. I wish there was more we could do to get some real studies done that could help the cause. Until that happens, I think we just have to live with the holier-than-thou attitudes.

tlc I get the same flack from my wife. I asked her would she feel the same way if I were using the patch or the gum. She told me no and so I explained that this is doing the same thing as the patch and gum, but its more efficient and cost effective than either of them. Also I had to explain that the e-cig is a compromise. I enjoyed smoking, but I did not enjoy the adverse effects it had on me and my loved ones. This enables me to still enjoy the aspects of smoking I liked without endangering anyone.

Congrats!! Way to go!

I know how you feel too. While I smoked, every day for 10 years my husband made at least one comment about my smoking. No one in his family smokes. They were thrilled to death when I stopped. And then just didn't say anything at all. They don't know about the e-cig yet. I started vaping mainly because when I quit smoking I gain weight and this was no exception; I gained 30 pounds. I needed a substitute, and as it turns out my 510 has been wonderful :)

The last time I was asked when I was gonna quit using my 901 I answered never, and the person then went on to tell me how bad addictions were and how they were just gonna quit so they could be off nicotine, yes they were sitting there smoking a tobacco cig telling me how easy it was last time for them to quit!!!! Using a prescription. All I could do was laugh and say to them "let me know how that works out for you AGAIN!"

Two weeks tomorrow morning for me, and I've already gotten "but you're still smoking" from someone at work. The message about smoking in people's minds seems to have gone from "quit because it's unhealthy" to "quit because it's an addiction", and possibly just to "quit because it's BAD!!!" Some people don't seem to actually think about why you're supposed to quit smoking. You shouldn't smoke because it pumps you full of cancer and permanently damages your ability to breathe. Having an addiction isn't a good thing, but being addicted in itself isn't necessarily harmful, so you can kick it or not, as long as it's not destroying your life.

All the pharmacists at work are very interested and supportive, just some people have skewed perceptions.
