Hello I'm new here and would like to thank everyone for the great info here and I was just wondering how everybody deals with people making comments about you smoking when it's not a real cigarette? I imagine that when push come to shove the attorneys will pick up on this, but has anyone had any problems and how do you deal with it? Anyone know the where and when you can smoke these? Someone told me that on airplanes you are allowed to smoke in flight but not on landings and takeoffs. Any other "rules of the road" ?

I use as a rule of thumb, vape where smoking is allowed. Unless I ask first. Some restaurants and bars are cool with vaping, others not so much. But most will allow vaping if they have patio seating.
be polite and be ready to answer all the questions. You may just save a life. I carry a card that has the link for ECF and some suppliers on it and always answer questions.
Only one person has been a pill about it, until I made him look at the device. I stressed no tobacco, fire or second hand smoke!

Tell them it's a fake cigaerette. lol

I'm not sitting in the smoking section anymore and when they ban indoor smoking in Wisconsin next year, I'll still vape where I used to be able to smoke. But I try to be descrete where necessary and I don't use a PV that looks like a cigarette - that gets more curiosity rather than animosity.

Lucky for you guys if you can talk your way out of it. Though I've never made an attempt at vaping in enclosed public places (at least not yet), I could almost anticipate those one-track minded security personnel (which our malls and restos have a lot of) ignoring any rationalization you make because they "only enforce the rules and nothing else." Explaining to them the difference between smoke and vapor would be like explaining sex to a virgin. Not fun at all.

This is not quite on topic...but my old smoking friends feel uncomfortable smoking around me now. I like hanging with smoker. I still see myself as one of them. Even if it means outside in the designated areas. I did not make big deal out of the e-cig, just said I need to make the change. But they are not coming to get me when it is time for a smoke break. I am an outcast with the outcast. Any advise?

Perhaps they're avoiding smoking with you now because they think you don't want to be exposed to smoke, or you're going to lecture them or something.

So show them you're still "one of them." Take smoke breaks alone. Let your fellow nicotine fiends see you outside (or wherever you have to go to smoke), puffing on your e-cig along with the other outcasts.

If that doesn't get your friends to see you, then get to work before your smoking friends arrive, and let them see you puffing on your e-cig before you go inside. Or be outside the door when they leave, "lighting up" before you go to your car. Once they see that you're still in the same situation, they may be more likely to accept you.

BTW, I'm with you. I still see myself as a smoker, and I don't have a problem with that. For me, vaping is a way to keep smoking without a lot of the downsides of tobacco. For others, it's a way to quit, or a way to smoke even more (analogs in private, vaping in public).

It's a big world. There's room for everyone.

Thanks, I will try it. I swore when I committed to this that I was not going to be "One of those reformed smoker" I liked who I was and my friends. I just didn't like how I felt. At work they put up a smoking tent and set aside a couple areas outside for us. The tent is rank but better than standing in the rain. Funny how much I like the ritual.

I got tired of people snickering at my "fake" cig... until I tell them HOW much nic there is.

I had a horrible day today, so much so I was chain smoking analogs just to get over my battery loss. After work had a fresh charge, topped off cart and was steaming up the windows.
Hit the grocery store forgot I had it CLENCHED in my mug vaping away like an angry choochoo being operated by a demon. The clerk asked what it was so I told him
"A medical device proven to keep others safe and me out of jail, anymore silly questions bag jockey?"

MAN I was in a foul mood.. funny how ..... bosses can set some in that frame of mind.

Hi,

The cards you carry, did you make them yourself, or did you get them from an available source? I think those would be handy.
