If someone is going to be a recreational vaper thats totally fine but they should always be aware of the rights of the vaping community. Don't be the turd blowing clouds at non vapers. Most of us are former smokers and you know that you have to be respectful of non smokers. The quickest way to lose your right to do anything is to annoy someone who doesn't do what you're doing (smoking, vaping). They will complain and eventually you will lose your right to do so.

As for anything in life you should be respectful of others. I don't vape in restaurants or generally indoors in public. I try to educate people about vaping because there is no shortage of stupidity regarding any topic. There just seems to be a lot of misinformation about vaping and usually the uninformed/underinformed are the first to say something/complain. I had a great conversation with a vape store owner this weekend about the topic.

I say vape on for anyone who wants to vape (18+), just be respectful of others.

I am one of those recreational vapers and yes I am 18 and I have never smoked a cigg in my life and in all honesty I'm just in it to chase clouds but I enjoy seeing the ex smokers stories on why they decided to quit even though I've never smoked I have family members that do and I always hated that nasty ciggarette smell so I like that more people are switching to vaping recreational or not

Many of us advocate to vape most places but to do so respectfully and with common sense. So we are mostly in agreement. It is more than possible to vape indoors, in a restaurant, etc but to do so in a way that is respectful of others and bothers no one. But common sense also means that some places may be too small or too crowded, etc to vape. If one is being respectful and using common sense I don't see the need for hard and fast rules. But if an establishment has a policy against vaping, then one should follow the rules of the establishment.

Sorry to break in the middle of a thread but I have been off this board for a long time. I can't seem to find the button to start a new thread. Can someone help me?

You won't see this in the "New Members" forum, though. You have too many posts to start a thread here. Also (at least in my browser) the "Start New Thread" choice is in the "Forum Tools" pulldown.

I just choose not to do it. I'm usually with my son who is 15 months so I don't like to vape around him. If I do vape in the house he'll usually come running to try and run through the cloud. I'm used to not smoking indoors anymore anyway. The few people I have seen in public tend to be respectful, but I have seen some people getting annoyed by it in public. Common sense and respectfulness aren't the issue. For every 100 respectful people 1 non respectful person will get more attention than the 100. I just don't want to lose my right. The few times I've done it in public I've asked everyone around me if they're ok with it.

Any sub-group in society will have a small percentage of disrespectful people. People who talk on cell phones loudly around others or people who play music loudly around others. We can't control them. As long as we are using common sense and being respectful in how we vape in public, I don't see the need to act like I am doing the opposite. In fact, I have educated many uninformed non-smokers by vaping in public but doing so respectfully. Those who I have a conversation with always walk away with an appreciation of how different vaping is from smoking. I think that is a positive for the vaping community.

I hope that there is no one blowing clouds at non vapers while they're blasting music and yelling into their cell phone. Just about every day I'm surprised by how disrespectful people can be.

But that is what's wrong. On my screen there is no "Post New Thread" displaying in the upper left quadrant. For some reason I can reply to threads but I cannot start any. The Reply button displays but not the Post New Thread button. Can a moderator help me? I have not been on this board for more than a year. That may have something to do with it.

I don't have any feelings about recreational vaping at all. Do it, don't do it, I don't care. It's your business. I vape as a lower risk alternative to smoking.

Why label people who vape zero nicotine as anything apart from other vapers? Why is it important to discriminate recreational vapers from other vapers?

I guess people just like to split off into their own little peer groups just like they did in middle school: recreational vapers, vapers, cloud chasers, Provarinati, ect.

You have way to many posts (according to your post counter) to start a new thread in the new members forum. The limit is 70 posts. You can reply in threads in the new members forum but not start a new one. You can start a new thread in any of the other forums though.

I think it's great. The more people who vape 0 nic, the less focus it is on a 'tobacco substitute' and nicotine. I don't think we we should ban people from chewing on straws either. I mean some folks have done it to try to stop smoking. Oh noes, you're going to ingest plastic if you chew on a straw! We need to stop children from straw chewing. They are all going to die! (Or start smoking.)

Now being rude is a totally different game. But then there are many locations now that ban perfume and cologne wearing because people were rude and wore too much. Myself, I like where I live. We even still allow smoking in public places where there are no children. Woot!

The way I see it there are two types of vapers:
1. ex-smokers who vaped to quit - I assume most of us
2. recreational vapers - people who vape, probably 0 nic, just cause they like the idea of vaping

The problem is that we are lumped together. Us ex-smokers swear by vaping as it is enabling us to live a healthier life.
We have alot at stake, if bans and regulations are enacted since we depending on ecigs to stop us from the cancer sticks.

The recreational vapers, not to stereotype people, just enjoy vaping and some of them are kids.
Some, not all, of the irresponsible behavior I see are often from recreational behavior. (vaping in public places like airports or public restrooms). They would be sad if bans were enacted but not devasted like us ex-smokers.

With the increasing popularity of vaping and ecigs, as it has become a cool thing to do now for non-smokers, the number of recreational vapers will also arise.
I am just afraid of this trend, as I feel this wonderful thing called vaping, is getting a bad reputation by a few.

You forgot the third type of vaper who dual uses. I being one of them don't fall into either #1 or #2. Given how ex-smokers sometimes turn out (to be anti in attitude), I'd rather be in #2 while vaping nicotine.

I'm still yet to hear of the problem with the 15 year old vaping zero nic. IMO, it is like the 15 year old who drinks coke, when they ought to know that adults will drink coke and rum together (gasp). So, how dare that kid drink coke at 15 knowing that it could one day lead to adult drinking of coke (with or without rum).

I long for the day when recreational vapers outnumber the other kind. When vaping can stand on its own 2 legs and doesn't need to be filtered thru paradigm of cessation for even vapers to see it as legitimate activity. Judge Leon was able to see it this way in 2009. If you are a vaper who enjoys vaping, perhaps you too can see it this way. Otherwise, I'm not sure what you see in vaping that is all that different than how BP chooses to see vaping.

I have no problem with it. Why not?

Until recently I would have added 'As long as it's zero nic", but then found out that nicotine aids some health issues. I would still be cautious advising a nonsmoker vaping nic juice without looking into it though. While nic alone isn't as harmful as some would have us believe it's not completely without some effects either. Make an informed choice, whatever you do.
