How do you handle cartridges? Or do you?

Which of these choices fits you best?

  • I buy prefilled cartridges with juice already in them

  • I buy blank cartridges and refill with my own juice

  • I restuff my cartridges with my own filler material

  • I drip, or dip, and laugh at you guys

Ok, somewhat of a newb question here.
I know what dripping is...been doing it with my 501 when I need a good vape hit.

But what is dipping?

It's when the atty "nub" sticks out (like the SuperCig or E011) and you dunk it like a donut into liquid. I think most people still drip onto the tip as it seems like a big waste of liquid to prepare a dipping container.

I've tried about all the re-stuffing methods & found the Fluval works the best. It seems to wick better & lasts the longest.

Not if you use a contact lens case! Because it's made to hold a tiny amount of fluid, and the bottom is rounded (mine are, anyway), so there's pretty much zero waste of liquid because the very last drop still rolls right into the middle where the wick can suck it right up. You probably waste more by dripping the first time you accidentally flood the atty and have to blow it out, or the first time you miss the wick, or drip too fast for the coil to wick and have liquid bouncing off the surface onto the table.

Also, when dipping you don't run the risk of accidentally dripping liquid through the atty hole into the battery, which can be bad. Remember, the atty is designed to wick liquid from the mesh exactly to the coil, so by dipping all you're doing functionally is, in essence, screwing on a perfectly topped-off cart every ten drags or so.

Plus, you can store two different flavors in the right and left lens compartments. :)

If you know anyone who wears contacts, they probably have a dozen unused ones they'd love to unload on you, because they often come free in packs of lens fluid.

BTW, if you look at the blu atomizer, you'll see why it's practically made for dipping:

I don't like filling cartidges because you have too much to fumble with and you can never look at a cartridge and tell how much is left. Besides, I have no self-control (I used to smoke cigarettes, remember?) So, I'm not very good at saying, "That's a cigarette's worth," and putting it down. I'll vape a cartrige dry just because.

I used to drip on my DSE301 and loved the no hassle approach. The 510 doesn't flood as much or as often as my 901 did, but its such a waste when you flood the atomizer and have to blow out the juice (sad but true!). Now I top off carts on my 510 (Yeti). That way I can do a 2,3, or 4 drop vape session and add more if I'm in the mood. I use polyester fill because it's just too easy. I tried the tea bags thing. Didn't like the results or the work involved. I already had a huge bag of polyfill in the closet anyway. That should see me through this millenieum at least.

I've been using the Blu, so buying cartridges. They don't have any filler material, just plastic tips with little foil packets filled with liquid. Seems like there could be better and more versatile systems out there - maybe I'll have to look into one.

Actually, blu cartridges DO have filler. The actual cart is inside the mouthpiece-- you can stick a straightened paper clip into the hole in the mouthpiece and push it out. It's very easy to remove the filler and wash it (or replace it) and refill with the liquid of your choice. I've been having much better results from the blu since doing this, because one of its problems is that the foil-sealed carts are convenient but the foil often partially covers the atomizer wick and then it can't wick liquid fast enough.

If you want details on how I refill blu carts, PM me. :)

That's very similar to the look of the DSE103 and JOYE306. The design is terrible for cartridges. The filler doesn't surround the atomizer, like the 901 and Yeti, so you get a bad draw and inconsistent vaper. You HAVE to drip on those, which may be why so many Blu customer's are so disappointed. It makes all the difference.

P.S. It would also look a lot cooler if they had 007 etched on the side.

IGETCHA did a great video on the EVOlution, but the principles are the same. Yes, the filler material really is that tiny (another reason not to bother!). How could anyone think that could hold a pack of cigarette's worth of liquid in that!

It looks kind of like a 401. Great job, Scott!

I actually haven't had much trouble with the blu atomizer and cartridges since I started refilling them. (I'm a pretty light vaper, though, so it has time to wick between my drags.) The blu uses those foil-sealed carts and the atty mesh is that long so that it can break through the seal, and therefore it seems to protrude pretty far into the cart/filling. When I notice vapor production tapering off a little and I know the battery's charged, I check the cart, and usually it's run almost completely dry. When I used blu's foil-sealed carts, they'd often stop producing vapor while still 1/3 full; I think the foil/plastic seal got in the way of the wick.

But yeah, the trade-off of the convenience of the foil-sealed cart seems to be a cart that doesn't give up all its liquid. If I hadn't figured out how to refill, I'd be pretty disappointed in the blu refills, I think.

I love those videos-- they're one of the reasons I ordered my 510s from InnoVapor. And I did incorporate a lot from iGetcha's 510 videos in my routine for refilling blu carts. (Should have watched the EVO ones for something more comparable to the blu, I guess, but I was already getting ready for the 510s.)

No, a blu cart will not store enough liquid for anything near the 15 cigs they claim, but when I leave the house in the morning I have six of those carts topped off in the PCC-- five in the pack and one in the blu itself-- and that's more than enough for me, as I'm a pretty light vaper.

WOW! (it must have been like..REALLY cold that day...does she have a sister?)

Good tip on the contact case. We stopped carrying the SuperCig and 306 but still support several retail stores and existing customers who bought those models from us. I'll pass your solution along - thanks!
