How do you heavy smokers feel from smoking an ejuice with light nicotine?

It's a process to get to 6mg. If you go low ohm then 6mg feels like 18 in a short session. For travel using clearos and tanks, it took me about 2 weeks to step from 24 to 18, then about another 2 weeks to step from 18 to 12. Getting from 12 to 6 took about a month and about 4 months to get along with going 0 half the time. Everyone has their own pace really. I still like my nic so I haven't tried to fully give it up.

It's definitely a step down process. I smoked over a pack a day for over 40 years. I started out on 24mg juice, then down to 18. I then bought some 12 and 6 and slowly switched back and forth until my body got used to the 6 mg. I like the flavor I get more from the lower nic juices now and am not having any issues with wanting more nicotine. For me the nice thing about vaping is that I can do it my office with my door closed so don't have to deal with those urges of nicotine withdrawal and can vape whenever I need to. I have found too the past few weeks my sometimes chain vaping has cut down substantially.

Like the two previous posters wrote, it's a gradual process unless you're very determined and ready and willing to stomach some withdrawal symptoms. But then again, there's not really much need to, since the vapor isn't doing you much (if any) harm, anyway. But it feels kinda like you're getting your fix, but it's a "light" version. You think, "That's all?" and then you get to vaping more. :D

There are many chemicals in cigarette smoke that are addictive besides nicotine. If you have given up smoking for a while, then you may find your addiction to nicotine is actually quite mild. Vaping 6mg may well fulfil the hand-to-mouth habit and be enough for you. However, you may alternatively find you crave nicotine and vape it a lot.

It's a very individual thing, so the only way to find out is by trying it. But for most people, it's better to cut down more slowly.

I was a heavy smoker and to stay comfortable and keep cravings away I vape 24mg nicotine. Anything less causes me to seriously crave smoking and i get irritated and uncomfortable. I will lower my nic slowly when the time is right but right now I have so much stress in my life it's not a good time for me to lower it. The goal here is to stay off cigarettes, and with 24mg I'm able to comfortably do that even though the extra stress and pressure I have in my life right now. Start with what your comfortable with. The level needs to be high enough to keep you comfortable and off cigarettes. Best wishes.

There are many vet vapers who either never reduce their nic level or only reduce it to a mid-level point. This is mostly due IMO to wanting a decent throat hit. Unless one's goal is to completely stop vaping, many do not see the facination with trying to out-do others on how low a nic level they can vape which seems to be discussed in some threads. Considering that vaping is less effiecent in getting nicotine into you system than smoking, it makes sense that a former heavy smoker will want a mid to higher nic level. I primarilly vape 16mg eliquid but started at 36mg. If I never go lower that that, it really is not an issue.

Well I don't *smoke* my juice, I vape it, and I came off Marlboro 100's, 2 1/2 packs a day, and went with 18mg juice to start with, but it was too much, so I went to 12mg, which a year later I'm still vaping and making my own. I will say, however, that I found the eGo rigs inadequate and unsatisfying, and so went to a mech and RBA, which I'm quite happy with.

I think it depends on how much you vape. I was a 2 PAD smoker and started with 18mg juice. Since I don't work I vape all the time and 18 was making me light headed. I went down to 12 and was fine. Now I DIY anywhere from 6-8.

Since nicotine does have some beneficial effects I don't ever want to go below 3.

I have vaped with everything from 36mg to 0. I was a PAD smoker but I still smoke 1 to 3 a day during the week. I can't always say no to the offers at work. When I first started I used 12mg and still do occasionally use 12mg. I usually use 6mg because I get plenty of throat hit on my equipment. If I use 24mg it's a little too much for me. I chose to go lower nic because I could vape more. I have chain vaped on higher nic juice and have gotten a little crummy feeling. I never really had nic withdrawals especially since I got nicer equipment from my original ce5s. It's all subjective and a lot of it is mental. Just stick with it any you'll be able to do whatever level you want.
Good Luck

I quit my job to go back to school. While I was working I used 16mg in tanks and 12mg for my dripper which was single coil around 1.8ohms. Once I quit I went to mostly 6mg and the occasional 12 for when I wake up and such. Its amazing how quickly your body can adjust to lower nic levels. Now I can easily give myself a nic headache on 12. I think 6 is a good spot to get to simply because should there ever be a reason I have to give up vaping a smoke will be much easier to resist. I have no intentions of giving it up or going beneath 6 on a regular base. I will agree with something said earlier, the lighter nic seems to have better flavor.

I personally bounced around. Smoked 2PAD, started vaping at 12mg then down to 6mg and went up to 24 mg taking 36mg me on occassions when vaping often wasn't possible, then back down to 12mg and settled there for a long time. I've never felt anything, describable at least, from nic unless its from consuming too much and think, in my case at least, most of it is psychological or I tapered off so slowly I didn't notice anything. I guess I'm lucky that way as I can be happy with low mgs as long as the throat hit is there. I think TH and flavor are where my cravings are and not with nic. IE: Food flavors substitute for food to me. Tobacco flavors substitute for, well, tobacco. I could easily give up any food flavor I've tried but would have a hard time giving up tobacco flavors with TH whether they contain nic or not. So... short version: I vape for flavor... not nic.

I do not recommend starting with lower nic , too many stories of people needing to substitute regular analogs with vaping which can be eliminated a good part of the time by making sure your getting enough nic from vaping.

Happened to me , as soon as i went back up my cravings for an analog went away and i don't think about it or crave them anymore.

Hi i'm a new member so sorry if i post it on the wrong place or anything.. Just a curious question.. If you use to be a heavy smoker and is smoking per se 18mg of nicotine. how do you feel when you smoke the 6mg ? do you not feel the nicotine at all? or do you feel it but you tend to smoke the e cig more since it's very light? :)

I smoked lights (2 packs a day) and started with 12mg juice. I found since I vaped more often I was getting buzzed very often. So I dropped to 6mg juice and feel a lot better and don't get buzzed as easily.

I smoke a pack of Newports a day and am trying to quit through vaping. I started at 18mg from an EVOD. The vapor production wasn't enough to satisfy me, however the nicotine level seemed adequate.

I have been using a KFL+ for a few months now and 18mg was too much. I would get woozy from it. Switched to 12mg and it is perfect now. No increase in cravings, much more pleasurable inhale. I suspect I will be able to drop to 6mg in a few more months without increasing cravings.

The nicotine addiction isn't a big deal, you can get over it in 3 days. It's the habit of smoking I can't seem to overcome. I am at the point now where I am beginning to crave my vape just as much as a Newport.
