When I smoked analogs I would pull directly to my lungs as I didn't know there was any other way to do it. When I switched to ecigs, I smoked them the same way and didn't understand why it wasn't as satisfying and eventually went back to cigarettes. When I tried ecigs again, I found a tute on here about how to draw into the mouth first. Such a world of difference. Haven't been back to analogs since.

A straight lung draw is a waste of juice. The particulate of the vapor is 10x larger than the particulate of smoke (10 micron for vapor vs 1 micron for smoke). As such nicotine absorption through the lungs is much less efficient than smoking, however, using the mucus membranes of the mouth, throat and nasal cavity is much more efficient.

Thank you. This is valuable information for a newb like me on day 15. No offence intended but can you please point me to a third party source of some kind which validates your thoughts. Again, I believe you :) and it sounds logical but I'm kinda .... so please humor me. :)

When I first started I did direct lung inhale (like I smoked my cigarettes) it burned my throat and I hated this new "vaping" thing. I finally learned that doing a long slow inhale into the mouth and then the lungs works a lot better.

I do the exact same then either exhale from the mouth or nose- I get different aspects of the flavor depending if it is the nose or mouth.

I've not been able to inhale any juice that I've tried so far, at all. Even if I let 90% of it out my nose first. Even the slightest inhale makes me cough up a lung. It's very frustrating and I'm not being satisfied by vaping, and it's kept me from giving up the smoke.

I really need to figure this out. Other people inhale, why can't I?

I like to do it lots of ways. mouth first then lungs for anything with tighter draw and deep flavor. But when I am using a silica rebuildable with larger air holes, I use lowest nic juice with light flavor and chain straight lung inhales, and fog up a room... this is a real joy. But another technique noone mentioned which I really enjoy is nose hits. That is, no lungs, just nose. You do this by doing a slow mouth draw only, and at the same time you fill your lungs with air through your nose. Then exhale out your nose, while collapsing your mouth (closed) and force the vapor straight out the nose.. I like to do this very slowly so that the vapor saturates my sinuses. This gives an INTENSE nose hit, the most nicotine utilization I know of.

I inhale into my mouth, then into my lungs, the same way I always did with cigarettes. I've smoked for over 40 years and never imagined anyone inhaling any other way until I read about it here. No one I've asked has ever smoked by doing a direct lung inhale.

A friend of mine does a direct lung inhale when he smokes, however I've noticed he's not closed-lipped around his cigarette. He lets a crack open on the side so he takes in air + the actual cigarette in one sweep. I tried it myself and it's an easier method to taking a long hit off of a cigarette if you're not accustomed to the direct strength of it.

I interchange. More times than not, it's a mouth puff and inhale. Sometimes I just do a long lung drag for funsies. Both enjoyable. Different strokes.

That's how I smoke and vape. People say I sound like I'm whistling while I inhale, because of that gap around the tip. And yes, I do inhale straight to my lungs, it's very hard for me to pull vapor into my mouth without inhaling it at the same time. Practice, grasshopper.

Wow, thanks for the nose hit trick. I've never done that one before and it works great!
