I generally recommend to start at 24mg at a minimum for a pack a day smoker. At that level a new vapor might get the same amount of nicotine into his bloodstream as from smoking. Overcoming the addiction of cigarettes the important thing and not having nicotine withdrawal helps.
After quitting analogs it is much easier to lower the amount of nicotine than is to quit smoking.

New to vaping and i wanted to know given how much you smoke how do you know then which mg of nicotine to start out with?! thanks guys!

Buy 24mg, and dilute it with PG.

In the end the strength you use depends on pg/vg ratio as well as your hardware and how frequently you vape.

Good strategy when starting is to use at least 2 tanks, one with low strength as your main tank, and a small tank of high strenth for occasional use if you feel a craving.

I smoked about a park & a half a day. I started with 18mg but had a lil 24mg around to help with the bad cravings the first couple of weeks. I say grab 2 different ones & see how it works for a few weeks. Start with the lower of the 2 & see if it works. If it gets really bad go up to the next one & stay there as long as you feel you need to. I'm still using 18mg the majority of the time now.

I smoked 1.5 - 2 packs of Marlboro *reds*, and started at 24 mgs. That was perfect for me. How did I guess? I asked the only person I knew who knew anything about vaping. She told me to just pick one, lol. Same with the pg/vg, the flavor, the kit. "You have to start somewhere. Don't let it confuse you, you'll learn as you go." Good advice!

Pack and a half to 2 packs for 30 years (marlboro medium at the end) who has last cig Nov 11th 2013

I started at 18mg Dropped down to 12mg after 3 months Now about a month at 6mg

I sometimes mix 12 & 6 to get an added kick when I feel like it ( I guess that makes it a 9mg)

My advice to anyone just starting would be to buy multiple small bottles of different flavors and strengths and find your comfort zone. You will probably be surprised by what you find yourself vaping

I started with 18% at 50/50 blend. Within two weeks I began having reactions to pg so I switched to max VG blends. Now I go anywhere from 9% nic to 24%. The best advice I can give is either

A- start in the middle (18% and see if you are satisfied.) then move up or down accordingly.

B- Grab a few bottles of the same juice at different nic levels.

From there it's just experimentation. I keep many bottles (I DIY everything now) with different levels of nic depending on what I'm in the mood for. Early in the morning I vape a lower nic (as early in the morning the first puff always makes me cough) then late at night when I'm relaxing I'll take out my 24%

I'm sorry I can't give you a definitive answer but your best bet is to explore a bit. Small bottles :)

(I was a pack to a pack and a half a day smoker)

Pack and a half to 2 here. I got lucky. A buddy who smoked the same as me started vaping a week before. Said his juice (24MG), gave him a buzz when he started. I figured it was to high so I started with 18. The way I figure is if 18 isn't enough with normal vaping I'll just vape more. Has worked fine. Don't understand buying different nic levels.

I was a 2 PAD Full Flavor Smoker, but my wife was a PAD Light Smoker both for 30+ years. We started @ 18mg 80% PG /20% VG but it was too strong (Throat Hit) for the wife, and with some juices even for me. So what we've done is gone with 12mg 65%/35% and then bought unflavored 65%/35% 24mg nicotine. You can buy unflavored nicotine any pg/vg % and any Nicotine mg up to 36mg from Mount Baker Vapor dirt cheap. With the 12mg E-jucie & 24mg unflavored, using a 1 1/2 ml tank --- add 1 drop to get 14mg, 2 drops 15.5mg, 3 drops 16.5 mg, 4 drops 17.5mg, 5 Drops 18mg, 6 drops 19mg and so on. (can also use 36mg unflavored if you think you want to adjust higher) It's also a great way to ween down on nicotine when we lower eventually down to 6mg ... can vary up and down. This way we don't waste a lot of money on E-Juice then find out the nicotine level is to strong or too weak.
