How do you match a high wattage box mod to a tank?

welll mainly its the design of the coil that determines the wattage that can be applied... and then you need to have the proper airflow capacity and wicking ability... ever notice that premade coils have a watt range printed on the unit?
if you want to get into higher watt usage, consider looking into rebuildable tanks etc, that way you can make your coil to withstand the watts you have in mind...

I have watched some of the videos on YouTube and am getting a better idea of what is going on when your vaping. I started vaping about 4 years ago and was happy with a e-go till just recently. My first box was a e-leaf 30 and now it is the sx mini 75 watt and nickel coils. The first 1/2 tank tasted nasty, almost gave up the nickle. Now a few tanks down the road and it's getting better and better. I don't know if I could build my own coils but I am thinking about it. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Don and Welcome to ECF :) most tanks and premade coil heads arent ment for realy high wattages, you could use some with rebuildable decks, but as stated above there might no be enough airflow too keep it cool enough and would be a realy hot vape and possible burn out the coil, most people who use the higher wattages are using RDA's more airflow, ability to make coils to suit your preferd vape, hope this helps. Happy Vaping!

What about the newer,"high voltage sub tank", with nickel coils. I says that it can handle higher wattage and has excellent air Flo adjustments.
There is often a wattage range recommendation printed on the coil

for example this one says:
12W-25W

and this one says
15W-30W

2568100-1.jpg

same tank.
different coils

and here is the RBA coil head for the same tank:

There is no wattage range on it, because the wattage depends on what coil you wrap and screw down onto the posts yourself

Rule 1) Majority of what vaping is subjective to the end user, what one user likes, another user will not
Rule 2) Being Subjective, variable wattage devices, you start low and gradually crank up the wattage until you find a desirable vape, AKA the sweet spot. Hit is to harsh, back it down a couple notches, vape to hot, back it down a couple notches, vape tastes scorched, again back it down a couple notches.
Rule 3) Just because you see another person blowing a thunder cloud, don't have to mimic them, find your sweet spot combined with the limitations of the devices you are using, vaping was not intended to be a competition, it is about keeping you off tobacco.
Rule 4) Higher you go in wattage, higher the learning curve is toward more advanced subjects, battery limits, mod limits, Ohm's Law, battery safety, resistances versus volts and amps being applied, standard DC electrical circuitry, do your research first before jumping out the plane into free fall
