How do your lungs feel

I just got my e-cig yesterday. I think it is going to be a great investment but it got me to wondering. The E-cig still has a certain harshness that you feel in your lungs. I mean, I don't mind this feeling at all as I have been smoking cigarettes for a long time.

What I want to know is how do your lungs feel weeks and months into vaping? Do your lungs feel as good as they do when you don't smoke at all? Or is there a similar unhealthy lung feeling that you get from smoking real cigarettes? Will vaping allow me to get back into cardio exercise without feeling like I'm going to cough up a lung the whole time?

What are your experiences?

You should not be feeling any harshness in your lungs. Perhaps a bit on your throat, but definitely not in your lungs. I'm thinking something is wrong with your PV, or you may be having a bad reaction to the juice.

As for me, I started vaping a little over a month ago and it has had positive results. I had a constant ache in my lung that is now gone. I've had some weird side effects when I was mixing with flavors, but never had any feeling of harshness in my lungs.

It's not that I'm having a harshness in my lungs per se. Rather I can just feel it hit my lungs. My PV is working fine, at least as far as I know. It's brand new, it better be. I'm just wondering if the funk lung from smoking is going to go away, and what my lungs will feel like after weeks or months of vaping.

My goal with vaping is to end up not smoking or vaping at all after a period of time. Then keep my PV around for when I go to the bar and get all tanked and want a smoke. My cousin got me into vaping. I made fun of him for a while then I realized that it's actually pretty sweet. He made a mod for it too. Anyone interested check out his website, www . greatlakesvapor . com minus the spaces. He has a forum page too, it's at the bottom.

I started vaping with a 501 on June 7 and quit a 50+ year 2+ pack-a-day smoking habit the same day, no side effects, no urge to return to analogs since, and definitely no lung ache or burn; stopped wheezing and coughing at night right away and feel much better physically in general. From all the reading I've done on this forum and Vapeatron, I don't believe an unhealthy feeling in your lungs is normal; your comment is the first I've read about it. I did read that a few people can't smoke the PG liquid and they use the VG instead, which is why I started on VG although I think I've ordered both since. Try ordering some VG juice and see if that helps. There are a few sites that carry it; I got mine from JuicyLiquid (I think the VG is more organic; if I'm wrong, one of the forum experts will jump in here and clarify things). And yes, LOTS

Cool, I was worrying you might be vaping VG at excess temps ;) I've noticed that my lung capacity has improved quite a bit, and so has my endurance while doing physical activities. From my past attempts of quitting smoking it seems about the same as what I experienced while not smoking.

Well I have been vaping for over 8 months now and after 43 years of being a heavy tobacco smoker I couldn't really expect to have much of an improvement but there is absolutely no doubt at all that my lungs 'are' improving. Not dramatically but slowly with each and every day. The one thing that was a quick improvement was that my smokers cough went away within the first week and I hardly ever cough at all now.

Even a little harshness can be normal if you have a high nic juice. As long as it isn't persistent and feel it even when you're not vaping. Personally, I don't feel it in my lungs so much unless I'm using high voltage. As far as lungs clearing up, I noticed considerable improvement in a couple days and within a week they felt as clean as a newborn. No gurgling, coughing, or hacking mess in the morning. I want to clarify though that I'd quit for nearly 6 months (except when drinking) prior, but my drinking smokes were starting to roll over into my daytime sober smokes. It was then that I discovered e-cigs. Figured it could at least pacify me while drinking, but turned out I love it as a hobby the way a cigar afficionado/pipe smoker would.

Sorry, something blipped and my reply posted prematurely... premature elucidation?... anyway, as I started to say, LOTS of forum members report they can once again be active without gasping for air! (I need to figure out how to edit a post.) Good luck and good vaping!

The "edit" button's a good place to start. LOL. Look to the bottom right of your post you want to edit.

Pretty sure VG doesn't turn to Diacetyl until it reaches 250C, whereas the atomizer only reaches 60C. I could be wrong. This is from memory, and my memory isn't too good. Even if it did turn, Diacetyl in small doses wont hurt you any more than standing in front of the microwave making popcorn. In prolonged exposure to it's vapor, it's been known to cause a debilitating lung disease though.

I was doing great and then got that feeling. I was slight and thought I was getting a summer cold. Then I got some menthol crystals and added it to the mix and had an immediate reaction (mouth/throat got sore and had little red bumps).
I dumped the juice and went back to VG and distilled water for a few days and was doing better so I went back to flavors which had a bit of alcohol (increased the amount of vapor and gave a better throat hit) which also contain PG and the heavy feeling came back.
So, right now, I'm on straight VG and distilled water again and doing better. Once I get rid of the sore throat and the heaviness in the lungs that you're talking about, I might work in the flavored juice now and then but probably not on a permanent basis. You never know, maybe I'll build up a resistance to it and I won't react.
While you experiment, keep this in mind: The tissue that covers the inside of your mouth is pretty much the same as what lines your air ways and lungs so keep an eye on what's going on inside your mouth.

I must admit that you would still expect there to be some sort of detrimental effect to the lungs from vaping because we are still inhaling something were were not meant to inhale, yet there is no sign of that at all.......it seems to be just as good as being a non-smoker. I am not even sure that my lungs aren't improving quicker than if I had simply given up smoking.

I wish there were some medical studies going on comparing people who have switched to vaping and people who have simply quit smoking but sadly all the authorities seem to be interested in doing is banning it.

AppleJackson: The only things on the bottom right of my posts are the "Reply with quote", "Multiquote", and "Quick Reply" icons... maybe you don't get an edit button until you've achieved some higher status, or made more posts than my few. If I'm missing something obvious, let me know (it wouldn't be the first time).

AJ: Yep, I made it to 15 posts and got my "Full Member" status and my edit button. YAY.

You cant edit until you have a certain amount of posts which is like 15 or 20 I think.

Ya know, I've thought this too at times, but didn't want to start any rumors or anything. It seems my lungs cleared up faster than when I stopped smoking completely for 6 months with Chantix. Maybe it's all in my head though.

EDIT: Also, I have to mention that I still wasn't back up to my full smoking habit when I started vaping. I pretty much only smoked when drinking, but it was starting to creep back into sober times too when I discovered the e-cig, so my lungs probably weren't as bad as the first time I stopped either.
