So I changed my coil a little bit ago and cleaned out my DID's reservoir. It was real tight so I used some pliers to help me get leverage. When I had it all finished I noticed the pliers made some metal burrs on the threads (yeah that was stupid of me) so when I was putting the top back on I just screwed on and off real fast to make it smooth again.

But now the air hole doesn't line up. It's about a quarter inch off like it needs to be screwed a bit more but can't. I spent a bunch of time looking for other damage I may have done and even took a small file to the part where cap and reservoir meet in case I bent some of it or something.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find anything else I've done to make this happen.

I was hoping someone could come up with something. It doesn't even come close to hitting right without being lined up

Ugh nevermind. I guess I messed it up. It fixed a bit when I took pliers to the top and bottom edge and pinched all the way around but still not quite there.

I really felt stupid cause I thought I tried everything and there must be something else wrong but I just must have bent it or something. I didn't squeeze it that hard when I was unscrewing it but I guess it can't take quite as much as I thought.

So yeah, my bad lol go ahead and disregard this topic

Jim put a suggestion on the DID thread to screw your cap on pulling up and then unscrew pushing down to see if that fixes the threads. If that doesn't help you can use an O ring at the base of the threads to line up the cap and then order a new top cap from MM vapors. The new top cap come with the top section of the tank so that the holes always line up.

Same thing happened to me the other day after cleaning my DID, about a 1/4 inch off, but I can't screw it on anymore to line up the hole with the wick. I now use an extra large o-ring that I purchased with the DID and press it over the threads on top where the top cap screws onto and I'm able to line up the top cap hole to the wick. I did try pressing up while screwing the top cap on and pressing down while screwing the top cap off but it didn't seem to help.

I wouldn't recommend Noalox for your atty threads. Might not be good if that stuff mixes with your juice.

Ah ....- didn't think of the toxicity angle, sorry to mislead!
When I recieved my mini DID, right out of the package the threads were gunked up pretty good and wouldn't screw down all the way. I just used some vg and q-tips to clean them out first and then put some more on to the threads and it works fine now. I don't know if the vg could affect the metal negatively at all but I'd think its safe if it mixes into your juice somehow.
