How hard do you inhale?

I have recently been having a lot of coughing and wheezing issues while vaping, so I have been re-evaluating all parts of how I am doing it. Changed wick and coil configurations, changed my wattage and so forth. Today I started taking a much more gentle lung inhale than I had been, inhaling possibly even less than taking a normal breath, and guess what? The only issue I had was not having water on hand to rehydrate between vapes.

So for those of you out there who are not chasing clouds or lung punishment, how hard are you inhaling? I am doing direct lungs from my Trident, and if I hear air noise coming from the air hole, I feel I am inhaling too hard and back off a bit.

Please post your experiences.

I mouth to throat inhale (is that a thing?)
I suck on the mouth piece like a straw, pulling the vapor into my mouth. Then i take a quick and short breath in to get it into my throat (and maybe upper lung, though thats not the goal) then exhale. I dont hold my breath while this is going on- breathing through my noise until my mouth is full of vapor.
I usually prime once or twice to get the coil heated up - I'll follow the procedure above, but only fill my mouth about half full, pull into throat and exhale through the noise. I don't release the button, and while releaseing through my noise I'm pulling more vapor into my mouth.
Its not smoke, so you dont need to get it into your lungs - in the new user section on ECF here they talk about it in more detail, but basically you get nic from the mucus membranes in your mouth nose and throat. The vapor molecules are MUCH larger than smoke molecules, so your lungs dont efficiently absorb the nic like when smoking a cigarette.

Thats my style. I'm interested to see if there are others that do this.

I've been vaping about 8 months or so.

When I first started vaping I would try to "smoke" it like an analog cigarette: a hard draw into the mouth and then a deep inhale. Well, it didn't take very long to realize that vaping isn't like smoking. Now I find great satisfying comfort to slowly pull the vapor into my mouth and then a slow inhale. I don't hold my breath, either, I just go with the flow.

I also do the mouth to throat out nose while taking next "drag" - especially in the mornings when I need a nic fix! I find this the most efficient way to absorb nicotine*

I do lung inhale also, but that's simply habit I think! I always held the vapor in my mouth first though, then lung inhale, I rarely inhale direct to my lungs (cough like mad if I do!)

I vape between 7-10watts these days with a top coil

*Works for me, your mileage may vary

That's a pretty close description of how I do it. It's hard to explain in words, but it's almost like I hold the vapor in my mouth, and then sort of swallow it, and then exhale. Anyway, it feels natural to me to do it that way, and I have no coughing at all with this method.

Since I cleared my lungs of the debris from 58 years of smoking, I don't like putting anything else in them. I shallow inhale just enough to get throat hit. I found that inhaling too much flavoring into them brought back the same mucous problems I had smoking. It doesn't affect everyone that way I guess but it does me so shallow, low flavor, vaping is what I do.

I do the same exact thing. A very shallow short inhale from the mouth. I actually smoked the same way too for the most part. I've never been a deep lung inhaler, if that makes sense!

If the Throat Hit does not knock me to the ground something is wrong. I vape for the throat hit. The harsher the better. (Not burning though). If I can't feel it like a cigarette then there's no point to vaping for me. I'll just chew gum or "wear" the nicotine.

And no... I don't "lung hit". I'd have a coronary if I did.

Good question!! I take a slow draw to the mouth and then inhale it when I feel it at the back of the throat. Takes a good 7-10 seconds. Sometimes the battery times out at the 10 second mark. Once I have a mouthful, I inhale and exhale like I would a cigarette.

I thought it odd when a friend tried my pipe and sucked on it like he was drawing a golf ball through a garden hose!!
