I think the Smoktech SID is a close clone at least in looks but doubt it is much of a clone in quality.

I have both, the SiD is longer compared to the Provari w/ extension. The metal is completely different, the Provari being denser and heavier, which I like, and I have no use for eGo threads which are on the SiD, not the Provari.
I like that the Provari doesn't slowly crap out with it's 18650 battery, and the current is constant, not like the SiD, which pulses up and down, and the battery dies a slow death. I like VV, and if for any reason I want a VW, I'll use the iTaste 134. Now, THAT'S heavy!
Quick pic of size.......the Provari had a tractor accident, and, no, I didn't polish either of them up for a photo shoot!

I like my Sigelei Zmax Telescopic V3. This doesn't look anything like a Provari. In fact, Sigelei sells a lot more APVs that look like a Sigelei than the ones that look like Provaris. That's because Provaris look gaudy and over-styling is just plain ugly.

I like the V3 better than the Provari. It costs 25% of what a Provari costs and does more.

What Sigelei Zmax V3 does that Provari won't:

-VV/VW
-accepts 18350, 18490, 18500, 18650 and 2x18350 batteries right out of the box
-uses button top or the less expensive flat top batteries
-heavy stainless steel build
-removable top cap for easy cleaning
-510/eGo connection. The threads are one-piece stainless steel and the best on the market
-flat top cap available so wider atomizers don't look dorky on it, unlike the Provari
-one of the smalest VV/VW tube mods available

I even love the rattlesnake sound that comes from LR cartos. Lets me know the goodness is coming on the highway.

There aren't that many clones of APVs in general, at least as far as I've noticed. No clones of Innokins (I've seen some devices that look slightly similar to the vv3 and the MVP, but not nearly identical), and the Vamo is more of a general model type. No real 1 to 1 clones like with mech mods, or have I missed something?

For the same reason the Reo hasn't been cloned either. The people who desire a Provari want it for reasons other than looks, or that it's a VV tube device. And those reasons out weigh any profitability in a clone.

While I've heard China was developing a bottom-feeder, I have yet to see one. Of course it wouldn't be the quality of a Reo or Phidias (or any other I can think of), but I'm perplexed there aren't lots of them, since with the simple operation it seems like it would be a no-brainer.

And unless the price point is cheaper than a VMod, then there isn't much point for people this side of the ocean.

I just got my VMod today. I chose it both for price and looks, and other bottom feeders can't compete with the first reason.

You always skip the nasty zmax v3 button issue.
The way the internals break loose and render the fire button nearly useless?? At least that's what the one I have did on the third week I had it. And its a wide spread issue...... But hey, I saved a lot of money on that one, right??
At least I own a v3 and can vouch for its weak points.

According to ZEN, there are two reasons that make clones viable
1. Limited availability, people are willing to pay for a clone as there is a forever waiting list for the real item
2. Ridiculous pricing, the original is sold at a price way out of proportion to the cost of materials and labor. If someone can make a good 1 to 1 clone and sell it at a profit for 1/3 the originals price, they can and will sell clones.

Take a look at the ZNA, it takes so much to machine it and the materials are so expensive that I doubt HOH makes more than
$25 profit for each one. There are no HOH clones out there either, guess why?

If you attempt to clone it you will be cursed and the wrath of the provarinati will hunt you down in your sleep, you will wake up locked in a pyramid covered in black beetles and will be doomed to spend the rest of eternity being slapped by evil monkeys. And you will not have any bananas to appease the monkeys.

Yzer, have you ever owned a ProVari to like a ZMax better than a ProVari?

I recently got a Mini ZMax for free. I used it almost exclusively for a week to give it a shot. I couldn't get over the somewhat harsh vape the 33.3 hz chip makes and ended up giving it to my daughter. She's used to 14500 mech mods, so for her it was an upgrade. I'm back to vaping my Provari's and very happy that I am.

I'm happy you love your ZMax and always show up in these threads. It makes these topics fun.

I never had a nasty button issue on my two V3s. One has been use for ten months. Soon I'll have a one year old V3 and it didn't cost me the $160 entry fee to own a Provari for a year.

Oh, it probably is. You can even get them on Dragonfly for about $10.00 cheaper before shipping. And after shipping, and waiting for weeks on end, you could just pay then extra $10.00 and get it in 3 days.

I guess that kind of is my point. The cheap stuff is already selling for as low as it can, regardless of where you purchase it. The mechanicals get cloned mostly for their looks rather than their function from what I have seen, and the high-end devices are bought for their function, quality and warranty. If China could make a Provari which functioned the same or better, with similar quality construction and a 1 year warranty with a price point $100 cheaper, then they would. They can't. Which is why it hasn't happened.
