To only quote a persons responses and not the statements or questions that garnered said responses is most certainly contextually incomplete. BUT I don't want to talk about what was said yesterday if yesterday went wrong...I want to try and stay on topic and start anew. Seriously.

(Bold emphasis mine)

Simply saying you don't wish to discuss a thing, in post after post, while continuing to make points about the issue you "don't want to talk about" makes it seem like you are trying to proclaim honorable intentions while getting your digs in. My advice to you: stop talking about it if you don't want to talk about it.

I contend that there is no context in which any of those quotes been an attempt to get the thread on track. For it to qualify as a contextomy, my lack of context would have had to obfuscate the meaning of your quotes. I submit that the lack of context of these quotes is totally irrelevant in this case. Are you stating, that if these quotes I re-posted were viewed in the discussion as a whole, they are attempts on your part to get the thread back to the OP? I think you will have to concede that they were not.

Therefore, I view your use of the term contextomy as a misapplication of that term in this case. For it to be a correct application, you must make the argument that your posts were, in fact, attempts to return to the OP premise/question. I view that as an exceedingly difficult argument for you to make.

Lastly, I am genuinely sorry you have a serious doctors appointment, which to me implies a serious medical condition requiring the doctor's care. Even though I disagree with your posting style and context, I wish you good health and I hope you get some good news from the doctor today, David.

A heartfelt good luck from me to you, sir!

Well the provari is starting to look even longer in the tooth.
Sx220 devices are popping up, just read about another. This chip is a vw flat dc regulator that goes up to 22w and holds its settings very well from what I've seen.
So we have better chip, better warranties can be had through third parties (I think I was quoted $14 on a zmax for 3 years accidental damage. that's less than the extra year from provape. And if I drop it off a 5 story building, they replace it no questions asked). China build quality is getting good, to the point where its hard to tell some mechanical clones apart from the real thing. And that chip can be placed in an American made mod easily and be cheaper than the provari.

provape needs to stop sleeping and fast. Screw cloning the thing, if they don't change it up within 6 mos it'll go the way of the buzz pro

I have no problem with people buying whatever they want but it is annoying to hear someone boast about their expensive vaping mods in one thread and then cry about their money troubles in another....Don't let the quest for a status symbol put you in the poor house. As far as Provari being the best? Once upon a time but with devices out there like the Zna 30 and the HanaModz outperforming the mighty provari handily it's hard to believe that even the most ardent provari owner buys into that hyperbole these days. If Provape doesn't come out swinging with an awesome version 3 it will go the way of the Mighty Blackberry and only a few stubborn holdouts will still call them king. :2c:

You owe me some change for that two cents.

Minimum starting voltage 4v.
No thanks. I don't care if it goes up to 50 watts, if I can't vape at 3.6-4.2 volts it's useless to me.

People were saying that about a year ago - Provari doesn't do VW, it's going to go the way of the Dinosaur, etc.
People will be saying the same thing in a year and Provape will still be going strong.

The Provari works when you press the button and it's reliable, long in the tooth doesn't apply unless you want it to do VW, which a lot of us don't use anyway.

no, long in the tooth refers to the ugly old design, the unfinished look of the screws by the screen, the screen itself (if they want to stick with an led screen, cool, but at least make it dot matrix), the inefficient regulator, the lack of anything resembling power. 14.5 watt and that 19mm taper down may have worked when the only thing around was carto tanks. But I'm not a happy unless I have a good looking device, and plumes of thick vapor. The provari does neither.
I don't so much care about vw. but the board is outdated, as is the look. it looks like a 1985 civic, with the points/carburetor under the hood and all. Give us a higher amp limit, a lower minimum resistance, and a higher max voltage. Give us a nice dot matrix display. Give us a nice looking 22mm top cap option. Then and only then would I even think of owning a provari again.

And plan of man, you know you should be running around 2.4 ohm coils on a 6v vv anyway right? That gets you the best coil mass and allows you to run it up to the limit without hitting cutoffs. and 4v at 2.4 ohm is 6.6watt. the only thing I run that low is stardust testers at vape shops and only because they are garbage.

in a year the provarinati will still be saying its the best. But just as the rest of use have known since the dna20 hit the scene, it isn't.

I didn't buy the Provari because it's looks and if anything the board is more useful to most of us because you can vape lower than 4 volts. If I wanted to vape at 30 watts (which I don't) then I'd do it on a mech anyway.

How is the regulator inefficient exactly?

I get more than a day using a 2000mah battery.

so did I
and I got more than 2 days out of a 33.3 chip on the same battery

and I can't see why anyone would want to go lower than 4v. I've never met a vaper who didn't at least run low resistance heads on an ego. if I wanted that little power, i'd get a cig alike and be done with it

Buy a fog machine and mount a 52" flat screen HD TV on it, problem solved. That ugly old led screen as you put it, was picked for a reason and thats because its been tested as rock solid reliable in millions of other applications. Its also quite a bit more liquid resistant than OLED and Dot Matrix.

You're confusing change with progress my friend, not everything new is better.Much of the time it's just newer.

As a vaper, Im worried about quality, reliability and consistency because thats what keeps me off of cigarettes. In short, I want something that works and works well every single time I use it.The Provari does that.

I think those of you who are always clamoring for the latest and greatest have your priorities confused or at the very least are overly complicating things by turning one addiction (smoking) into two (vaping and an endless pursuit of new tech).

Im not a hobbiest, I vape to stay off cigarettes, Im not a collector (I use ONE mod with a backup that gathers dust in the drawer) Im not a techhead.

Im a pure, old school vaper and as long as there are those like me, Provari will always do well.

But that's the thing. It IS the best FOR me. I would never presume to tell someone else that their device, that they are Totally Happy, with is not a good device. That would be rude. (Ahem ;)) All I seek is something that works, when I need it to work. Nothing more, nothing less.

Hi I'm Robin :)
Nice to meet you.
2.4 Vivi nova heads at 3.3-3.5 on a Provari. I don't like the thought of a cig-a-like because I like just changing the battery out of the tube. I also like that I only have to change the battery every 24 hours or so.

2 days out of a 33.3 chip would be great if the vape wasn't so godawful -in my opinion.
You like the DNA and I like the Provari, we're not going to agree on this.

I like the performance of my Provari and so do many thousands of other users - chalk and cheese, swings and roundabouts.
If you want to to use a Cig alike instead of a Provari then please feel free.
