I tried my first electronic cigarette two years ago, during a an attempt to quit smoking with nic gum. I went back to smoking shortly after that. I tried a newer version again three weeks ago and have been smoke free since, although that was not my intent when I tried it. So as a new vapor I am curious how your experience, not just your equipment, has changed over time. I started thinking it was a neat gadget for restaurants. Now three weeks later I am over the moon with trying everything I can get my hands on. I feel like I've been sucked into a grass is greener -- the vape is better on the next device. Which is fun, but time consuming.

I would love to hear your stories. Did you cough or detox? Did it changed from week to week? For those of you who can now get up and not vape until after breakfast, when did that happen? At a year? three months?

Is there a peer pressure to find an all day vape? Is every vape an all day vape? Do you prefer the variety. Have you reduced your nic levels. I know I started with 36mg three weeks ago, but within a week I decided I prefered the 24 mg most of the time. However with the 36 mg I don't use it like a pacifier.

If you DIY do you find a bottle of premade juice a treat like going to a restaurant is for those of us who cook all the time?

Well, back in 2010 my vape was a tiny, single celled organism. You needed a microscope to see him.

Around 2011, he became a multi-celled organism. He eventually spread into a colony, and I believe from that point he went aquatic. It was around the beginning of 2012 that my little vapes first grew legs, and developed lungs.

Mid-2012 my vaporites became mammals.

Beginning of 2013, my vaporites had already established city-states. They developed language, agriculture, symbolism, and even religion! (They view me as their God, ironically!)

the most recent breakthrough, is my vaporites have finally established a relationship with Me. They are now fully conscious of being One with me........and as we all know, the only logical next step from there, is for them to return to Me.

I must say, the evolution of my vapes has been been both a remarkable, and wondrous journey.

I started like many others...after another failed attempt at giving up the stinkies with the gum or lozenge. I met someone at a poetry reading who had an eGo with a clearomizer, and I was rather intrigued.

I got my first kit about two days later: an eGo standard regulated voltage 650 mah with those stupid cartridges.
I then got some mini tanks with a 510T atty...this didn't last long either.
Got two eGo twists and some clearomizers...yeah, now we're talking.
Got two bigger eGo twists and some Protanks...now we're vaping.
Now, I'm waiting for my first APV...an eVic, my custom made DCT and a plethora of juices from small batch boutique vendors across the country.

Next up: DIY juices and RBAs....

This has been a quick, quick evolution.

I skipped the 510 atty's and I've never dripped, but I feel I must try it. I ordered 2 RDA's and am excited to try them. I hope they work better than my first day with a CE5... lol the burnt taste was awful. LOL I wanted to try it before I wasted a bunch of juice so I just put a little bit of juice in the bottom... rookie error of major proportions. Love bottom coils now and think they should be recommended to beginners who don't have any one to talk to except via the web. What is obvious with a tiny bit of experience doesn't cross your mind when you first switch from a cig a like.

Yes, I think the acquiring or trying new toys is addictive. I once had a foreign student try to explain to me the difference in his cultures attitude toward fidelity. He said they were misunderstood, but they simply believed that no matter how wonderful 1 woman was they still believed they could find better and that is why they cheated. I think vaping reminds me of that idea, there is always a better sweeter perfect vape out there somewhere... no matter how wonderful the one we have is... we want better.

Proverbs, you could be my twin. :) I smoked 40 to 50 a day as well, for 35 years. My husband and I had an abortive ecig attempt back in....2007ish when they were brand new. They sucked, were fiddly things dripping nasty juice into bad leaky tiny plastic cartos, etc. We gave that up pretty fast.

Fast forward to 2 months ago, we discovered a vape shop near us. We'd messed around with some Finiti and Blu drugstore brands, which were meh. We walked in and started sampling juice on ego batteries from clearomizers, and were hooked. Blown away by how far the technology had come. Bought our kit on the spot. The next day we went back and hooked my sister up as well. I had a sorta kinda intention to quit, maybe, eventually via vaping. But after 2 weeks of having a blast vaping like a chimney and sampling juices out the wazoo, it occurred to me that I was down to only a few stinkies a day. So.... I made the jump. So did hubby and sis.

Over a month later I'm still astounded. I wasn't just a smoker, I was a smoooookeeer. I was one of those people who would drag myself out of a hospital bed with a 104 degree fever to smoke, stand in 110 degree heat, in the rain, who left movies to have a few quick drags because I could not go 3 hours. I've paid tons extra and rerouted entire vacations around having to fly through Atlanta so I could smoke. I also have asthma and an autoimmune disease and beginning COPD, BTW. And I would have died. For sure. I would have died because I had done Chantix, patches, pills, hypnotism, Wellbutrin, anti-anxieties, you name it - all unsuccessfully. Oh, I managed to quit a few times, once up to a year. But I always knew I'd go back, given the right stressor. I knew I was still a smoker, even when not smoking. I was a SMOKER.

And now ................ I'm not. I'm just not. Poof.

I know it with no doubt whatsoever. So long as I can vape, I will never be a smoker again. I'm a happy vaper, whose lungs and joints already feel better, who makes it through a yoga class without feeling like I'm going to pass out, now waiting for my new Provari Mini and Kanger protanks to be delivered tomorrow. :vapor:

I think we are twins... lol at rerouting flights. I would go through security a second time and miss a flight for a smoke. I so know what you mean about those little plastic oily cartos.. those are the ones I threw away. I love this stuff and it is such a miracle to me I tell everyone. I share my 808's with total strangers. The grandkids stand by excited as I share items with strangers and say "Show them the others (meaning my egos), do you have them in your purse?" Quitting smoking is one of the most difficult things I've ever tried to do and switching brands to vaping is one of the easiest. I really love to share the information and often pass out two or three extras for people to try everywhere I go. I am waiting on my vamo to arrive, but I ordered two so I will have one to share and an itaste just in case. I am now a walking free vape demonstration.

Hey, just curious MartiP, do you contemplate stocking up on juice just in case bit tobacco and the government start to take over. I love the purity of juice and I so don't want them adding junk to it in the future.

MY VAPING EVOLUTION:
I started out with Smokeless Image Volts and X2's, but quickly moved on to mods in order to use replaceable batteries and more options in juice delivery devices. My first mods were AltSmoke's BB and Silver Bullet and pyrex cartotanks. Moved on to variable voltage with a Provari.

Family2.jpg

I had a phase where I wanted something more lightweight, pocket-friendly, yet still had variable voltage. I purchased some inexpensive gripper-style mods to use for out-and-about and continued to use the Provari mostly at home.

gripper.jpg

I found over time that I was still grabbing for the Provari when I left home...I just preferred its vape quality over the others. I'd always wanted a Mini Provari, so for my 1 year anniversary being smoke-free I awarded myself with one. Now the Mini sees almost all the action out of the house and the two Provari's together get most of my attention at home.

Recently I've been enjoying the vape of a couple of AGA T2 rebuildable atty tanks for home, and continue using my IBTanks (up to a dozen now) for home and away.

Juices
I've gravitated to those vendors that use all-organic, all-natural flavorings; and generally use a 50/50 pg/vg mix. I've cut my nicotine strength from 24mg to 12mg. Just starting to experiement with DIY.

First "all day vapes" were Copper Creek's House Blend and Virgin Vapor's Kona Velvet Milkshake. Then I got away from that and would use 3 - 4 flavors in any given day from up to a dozen flavors at my disposal. Currently my favorite flavor is a Golden Apple from Dripeez, either alone or with some Cinnamon or Rum added.

Like, 4 years ago I ordered a 7s kit... which while not as stupidly overpriced as a kiosk kit, was still not worth the money. And since they only offered 18mg juice as the highest available, I failed.

About a year and a half ago I got an NJOY kit from the gas station, and also failed with that. While less stupidly overpriced than the 7s, the prefilled cartos were a dealbreaker.

Then, a year ago Electra Vapor opened here in Jax. After two failed attempts I was skeptical of trying again, but after a thread on 4chan i had a better idea of what it was I needed, and went in there to get a kGo kit. I cut back on analogs immediately, and for two weeks really only had good morning, post meal, and goodnight cigarettes. Two weeks in, i forgot to even want those. I soon began ordering juice every other week from ECB - usually five flavors and a five pack of cartos and I was good to go.

Now I still take ego-style batteries to school, but I slap a vivi nova on them, and rebuild the heads myself. At home I use mechanicals (I have a telescope and an iSeason) and RBAs. I DIY all of my own juice, now. Next step is mastering my AGA-T2s. My current wishlist is a few killer clones and an oddy clone

Not juice, but we have talked about maybe starting to stock up on some high strength nic to freeze. VG, PG, and flavor are not going to be bannable - it's used for too many other things. Worse comes to worse we will learn to DIY. It'll be like bathtub gin during prohibition - we'll all be making bathtub juice. ECF will get renamed the Blind Tiger Speakeasy when the revenuers show up. :D
