that is why i added the dangerous part at the bottom.. the times I have seen it was around 1 foot splash but it was done with 2 cups in the microwave so you could see right when they where at boil point..

i went into a bit more safety on this last night but posts where not working.. but you do have to be very careful if anyone gives this a test.. a few grains of salt tossed in the cup will cause the reaction

Mind boggling,

To risk 3rd degree burns , poisoning and using every chemical you can find to get what you think is a 'like new' life from an $8 atty when one , if you are lucky will last for about 4-6 wks.( and that's working the way it should)
In perspective, that's less than it costs for 1 pack of cigarettes lasting 4-6 wks.
Let me ask you something, If you think you have an atty after 3+ months that 'works like new', try something. Crank up a new atty and you will realize that that old one is just not that great.
Remember, it's only $8.

simply mind boggling.

I now have over 5 months use on the two 510 atomizers. I just broke out a couple of new ones and have to agree that they're not the same, the new atomizers aren't as good as the 5 month old ones. That primer fluid is nasty ;)

Seriously, my 5 month old atty's are every bit as good in vapor production and flavor as the new ones (once "broken in" and past the primer stage).

I find it mind boggling some find it mind boggling :p

Crest pros active ingredient is Cetylpyridinium Chloride and Listerine's active ingredients are Thymol, Methyl Salicylate, Menthol, and Eucalyptol. Keep in note that there are more ingredients but these are only the active ones.

Thanks! But I meant as far as cleaning your atty - Is Crest specifically better than Listerine?

I did the Crest Pro Health on 3 of my 2 month old atomizers and it ate the paint off of them. They are not cheap imatation atomizers either. They are slb dse 901 atomizers (with the slb and serial number).

I soaked them for 30 minutes. when I pulled them out, the paint started completely flaking off in my hands. I had to remove the rest of the paint to make them look better but all I had to do is rub my fingers on it and the paint just chipped completely off.

Ahaha, agreed. Be a man. Buy new ones when the old ones are used up.

I'd like to think the women posting here would rather be a woman and buy new when the old ones are used up ;)

Aye, and the main thing to remember is "when the old ones are used up."

I'm risking no 3d degree burns, no poisoning and no chemicals the way I clean mine. I use water and a dry burn on each atomizer every 3-4 days and they're all like new when done. If you aren't finding a way that works for you, god speed and buy new ones. I see no difference in vapor production, taste, or draw between new and my 5+ month old 510 atomizers. Why should I throw them out?

Agreed. I've been using my attys for about 4 months. I give them a hot water bath maybe every few days. If one is feeling really clogged, I'll use hot white vinegar. This seems to work really well, but I forgot to agitate one once and it oxidized the side on the floor of the glass a little. Other than that works great. No dangerous chemicals or risky operations. And after a clean they really work like new.

has anyone tried to explosive boil their atty.. i see a lot of ppl boiling.. but thats just sitting it in hot water.. if you where to bring nanapure water beyond boiling temp in the microwave then with tongs drop in the atty the boiling would start in the atty so the bubbles should form in the mesh breaking loose all the dried up juice..

this is kind of dangerous boiling water will shoot out of the cup and splatter everywhere if anything makes contact with the water in the cup..

I've done this a few times and it works fairly well if more traditional methods aren't working. Use tongs and don't get crazy with it - it only has to boil, not explode.

one of the reasons we are vaping is because we were tired of paying outrageous amounts of money for cigarettes we are trying to save money where ever possible also we are in the worst recession since the great depression so most people are trying to pinch their pennies i know i am. Me and my friend have been trying to see just how long a 510 atomizer will last well were about sixteen weeks on the same attys me and him both we clean them out with eveclear probably about once a week and let them soak overnight. Then blow them out really well let them sit for an hour or to then do dry burns till there is nothing left. The flavor is great after doing this. Ive tried new attys in between this time and still like sticking with my original. save the money clean them out 8 dollars a month is a movie ticket or something you know go bring your girlfriend out to watch avatar freakin awesome by the way great 3d cg but thats off subject
keep vaping

Has anyone tried using a ultra-sonic cleaning bath with ethanol (grain alcohol) to clean their atty?

I have a ultra-sonic cleaner at work (chemistry lab) and I bet that would do the trick.

They use these to in jewlery stores to clean jewlery, watch bands, etc.

You can buy a small one pretty cheap.

Yes I have, and the small ones intended for rings work fine. I'd worry about industrial strength sonic cleaners - they can be pretty powerful, but the ones for fine jewelry are more gentle.

I use hot water only; haven't experimented with other mediums.

I started using alcohol, but found that water was just as effective (and ultra cheap since I use the good tap water we have here). The ultrasound does the cleaning, the liquid is just the medium through which the sound cleans.

I use an industrial model given to me. Aside from knocking chips of paint off the outside of the atomizer, no harm and it cleans what needs cleaning very well indeed.
