Has anyone tried those tablets used for cleaning espresso coffee machine filters? All i can say is: with use the coffee filters get real clogged (coffee wont even start to drip). After running the tablets you cannot believe how much gunk it cleans. Besides, after using the tablet u only have to rinse the filter with water, so it is non toxic.

Ok here is what i do i drink coffee so i use the coffee pot cleaning solution and i put in about half of teaspoon in my wifes untrasonic jewelery cleaner and let the 901 atomizer pulsate in the ultrasonic jewelery cleaner. My wife has a jewelery cleaner that has one side for cleaning and the other side for rinsing on ultrasonic it works great!!

I think the dry burn fries atty's more than anything else. Sure it turns the surrounding gunk to ash but it could also heat the solder and toast the coils connection. I'm not sure about the guts of an atomiser coil but I do not believe, due to it's size, that they do not use crimp connectors.
In operation the atty needs to stay wet especially at high volts or else it gets too hot (dry burn) and pop.

As far as cleaning a hot water soak and rinse works fine for me. Acids(vinegar, coke) and metal don't get along very well. Someone above, I think, mentioned baking soda(sodium bicarbonate) which is a base ph. I remember a science experiment from school where we turned a bone into rubber in a strong solution of bicarb. The nice thing about base ph products is they will not effect metal. Strong base cleaners like 'easy off oven cleaner' get baked on gunk off of metal. Not that I would use such a product in my atomiser.
I will do a test on a bicarb solution and report back.

Just thought this was interesting; this is an OxyClean type cleaner from the dollar store... pennies on the right looked even darker than the pennies on the left (pennies on the right had been in the solution 24 hours, ones on the left about 2hrs and were already lightening)... guess it's worth consideration altho i'm a fan of hot water myself but i'm testing it.

I am currently using my first 510 Atty since I got it February 25th 2010, it started producing less and less vapor 2 weeks or so ago, so what I did was get a tablet of Efferdent, soaked it in for a couple of hours, rinsed it in water and let it dry for 12 hours.. The white wick was white again and it is working great. I had to take the second atty that came in my kit back because it never worked. Exchanged it and picked up a 3rd Atty. So I am set for quite awhile.

HTH,
Charlie
