Well I just got my Joye510 in the mail today(very fast shipping from mypvshop!), and had one main question. I let the battery charge for the 5 hours or so, and tried it. Seems to work great, but coming from regularly smoking about half a pack a day I am not sure how this works exactly.. Do I just generally take 1-2 draws to equal one cigarette? I generally smoke a cig every 2 hours or so throughout the day. So would I draw 1-2 times every few hours, or do I just draw repeatedly like a normal cig for 5 minutes or so? I don't want to take in to much nicotine or anything, thanks for any help!

Welcome and congrats on making a wise first purchase!

You're not smoking anymore. You're vaping. So, you're going to have a different experience. I usually smoke about on cigarette an hour on average. I vape about once an hour, but I use 12mg and vape for about 3 minutes. I could down a cancer stick in under a minute. So, I enjoy the flavor and the act of vaping more than I did with smoking. With smoking, the flavor had long since diminished and I was just taming the beast.

Give it time. My first week I exactly matched my smoking habit. Now it's a different experience. I never smoked until I was satisfied. I smoked until I was finished. Where's the fun it that.

P.S. Wait until you wash you hands and they actually smell like... soap!
P.P.S. Why doesn't anyone call the 510 the Yeti anymore. It's such a cool name!

There's all kinds of posts on how many puffs equals a cig etc. and all are ymmv so much that it all means nothing. Most of the estimates are by vendors looking to give the customer some range - usually exaggerated but not all.

When you get the urge - hit the ecig first (before the cigarette) and hit it three times and wait - when the nicotine hits the bloodstream you'll likely not want the cigarette. But like ghostinhale says vape until you're satisfied. If you find yourself 'powervaping' (JustJulie calls it being in 'pacifier mode' ;-) then you likely need more nic but that doesn't mean you have to jump to 24 or 36mg continuously. You could just top off with a 36mg juice (same flavor) when you feel you need a bit more, then go back to 12 or 18mg. Some vape at 0 normally for the vapor addiction and taste and then top off with a higher nic juice for the nic addiction, then back to 0mg.

You're not going to be able to vape like you would smoke a cigarette, because your atomizer will get too hot. I generally take 2 or 3 drags, let the atomizer cool down, then take 2 or 3 more, and that gives me the same satisfaction that a cigarette would, without the nasty taste and smell that analogs give.

As far as how long to suck on the device, that you have to learn on your own. When I got my first pv on Friday (510 from Nhaler) I was getting some vapor, but it was very inconsistent, and quite often I felt like I was running out of breath before I could inhale all that I wanted. But after some practice, I'm much more comfortable with drawing on it. One thing that can really help is holding down the button for 1-2 seconds before you begin drawing, and when you do you want to suck the smoke into your mouth slowly, like puffing on a cigar but one long, slow puff.

You'll get the hang of it, I promise, just try not to vape drag after drag after drag, cuz the 510 atty gets very hot, and you're likely to melt your cart or burn out your atty if you take 20 drags in a row with no time for the atty to cool.

Thanks for all the replies, with the 510 were 5 cartridges of 24mg nic. And I also purchased a bottle of 36mg not knowing what I needed, I have been using the 510 for about 5 hours now. And I smoke about 2-3 drags an hour, it seems anymore than that and I feel kind of sick.. seems I may need to lower the nic on the next bottle I buy(right now I am just using the 24mg, dreading when I get to the strawberry flavor at 36mg lol). I only had about a cig every few hours before, and equaled out to about half a pack a day. I just found a FAQ that said for a pack a day I needed the medium content of nic, so guess my next juice will be that.

On another note I see a lot of people saying the e-cig will save you money, looking up everything I honestly believe analogs are cheaper here in Missouri. They run about $3.47 a pack, and $28 for a carton. I may be saving a little bit over time, but the main thing is all the accessories I need(read I needed a new atomizer for each flavor, and these go bad after a while. Batteries last about 6 month's, etc). But I am mostly interested in switching to the e-cig since I can smoke anywhere(don't have to go out in the cold anymore), and it seems generally healthier(friend said after a few days he could smell and taste so much better he was amazed at what the cigarette's actually did).

Holy crap, man. Half a pack a day and you're vaping 24mg? I used to smoke marlboro reds at 1 to 2 packs a day and I use 24. It's almost to much for me. I would recommend going 16mg max for a light smoker such as yourself. Maybe even 8mg depending on the kind of cigs you used to smoke. Those 510s do seem pretty popular, I almost got one myself. Good choice in an ecig.

Wow... here in Cali analogs are $6 or so a pack and cartons are close to$55 last I checked... (I wouldn't know exactly because its been so long I'm a dummy that buys by the pack because it was "cheaper at the time" then kicked myself later for it) I would suggest not getting the pre-filled carts and to just get the liquids and just drip it yourself. It'll actually save you there. I'm a pack to a pack and a half a day smoker, and the 16mg for me isn't cutting it, but it might help you. It works for everyone differently.

As far as battery and atty goes, I couldn't tell you, but I guess that's why you want to purchase from a place that either sales them cheap or have a good warranty on them.

You did a good job choosing your PV wisely, I got my SE (Smoking Everywhere) but its not doing it for me lol. At least it opened up my eyes into a better alternative.

I'll find my way, and once I do I'm adding another smoke free metor to track down my actual analog free intake.

Maybe get a sticker for it too

Yes that makes since, CA seems to be about twice the price on everything than it is in MO(my wife's sister lives in CA). It may not be saving me much money in the short term, but over a long time it may eventually save me close to $10 a month or so which is better than nothing. But it's not a big deal even if it costed more I would still smoke these, I mostly switched over to stop smoking :). I am going on about 14 hours now since last night when I started using it without a cig(longest I have ever gone, I have only smoke about 4 years though and have actually never tried to quit to this point).

Anyways, yea next juice I buy will have a much lower nic content lol.
