How long did it take for you to decide to upgrade?

Hey sorry if there's a thread for this already but I was just wondering when you guys first bought your good set up, how long did it take you to decide that you wanted to upgrade? I started in the end of December of last year and the last two times when I went to the local shop by me that I go to all the time to pick up some things, the first time the worker there asked me what I was using and I told him my 20 w istick with a nautilus mini and then he told me that I should upgrade. I asked him some suggestions and told him that I don't understand anything about building my own and he tells me that they would take care of everything for me and explain things if I needed help. I then thanked him and left.

Tonight I went back to pick up some juices and I saw the guy who first helped me buy my vape at their place and he asked me if I was still using the same set up. I told him that ya I was still using the same thing. I'm just wondering if it took you guys a while to upgrade or did you guys want to upgrade after a couple of months?

Started with an Ego Twist and a Vivi Nova. Replaced the Vivi after 3-4 weeks and got a new bottom coil tank (not cause I wanted to, but cause I broke the Vivi and figured I'd try another type of tank) After 2 1/2 months on that set up the bug hit me and I was buying up all kinds of stuff lol. Got into carto tanks and upgraded from the Ego twist to an Evic. After 2 months it went to a k100 and Nimbus RDA. It's been pretty non stop since, coming up on 2 years.

I upgrade all the time! I know some who have only upgraded when necessary, like breaking a tank or replacing a battery. The way I see it, if you're happy with your setup keep it. If you have the desire and the means to upgrade it, then do it. For me, vaping has become a hobby as well as a tobacco alternative.

At the end of the day, go at it at your OWN pace. Don't let someone talk you into upgrading gear. Try out other setups, do some research to find out what kind of Vaper you are. Then you can decide what to upgrade to, if you so choose. Cheers!

I have been vapeing for almost a year and IMHO have some nice gear. I still use my 20 w istick and nautilus mini all the time. My latest upgrade was the MVP 3 and sub-tank mini which I love but the Istick is much more travel friendly.

I upgraded steadily. More tanks, then bigger tanks, then better tanks. Same thing with batteries, more, then bigger, then better. I currently have 6 tanks in rotation with different flavors. You upgrade when you feel you need to upgrade. Simple as that.

I started with Ego-T and Protank 3 mini 1 month ago and upgraded to IPV Mini + Nautilus Mini in 2 weeks. Now I'm happily stuck with Subtank, have a few drippers for occasional gourmet drips and a RBA which I have not touched since I'm content with the Subtank...haha

I like my set up so far and am happy with it I'm just wondering if you guys upgraded quick or if it took a while. I would like a little more cloud and for my battery to last longer but I have no clue what type of battery is good out right now. I also like how I am able to travel with it even though sometimes it's a pain. How do you guys who have big batteries carry yours when you go out? Do you put it in your pockets or just use it in the car?

I make it a point to only upgrade when either something breaks, or the device does not work well (example iclear30)

Since buying an IPV2S, I almost exclusively use that one out and about. It takes an 18650 battery (I'm using an MXJO 2500mah)I just slap on the my Subtank Mini and I'm usually good all day.

If I'm out for an extended period, I take one of these with extra batteries and one of these with my juice of choice. Depending on what I'm wearing that day I can usually manage to fit it all in my pockets. I tend to wear cargo shorts, so that helps. Bonus if I'm out with the GF cause I can just stick everything in her bag! lol

If you are content with your current setup, I would suggest to stick with it until it breaks (my nautilus mini cracked after I dropped it and as I bought a subtank as it was so tempting instead of replacing the nautilus glass tank) or if you suddenly find that your setup is not satisfying anymore.

For mobility, iStick is fairly small and if you wish to have a longer battery life, you can consider the iStick 50W which comes with a 4400mAh. You might want to consider a small travel pouch to clip on to your pants if you find it bulky placing it in your pants.

For more cloud, I have to agree that the Nautilus Mini does not generate much. But as I'm a flavor chaser, I leave it for the cloud experts to provide recommendations.

I would have to agree with m00shie. The iStick 50W is a great choice. Much better battery life but not so big that it isn't portable and they're fairly cheap. You can pick one up for anywhere between $40 and $50.

While I would never call myself a "cloud expert" or god forbid, a cloud chaser, I will say this. For the best clouds you have to go with drippers, but they are not easily portable. I know some people do. Carrying bottles with them and dripping and driving (I DO NOT suggest this) but I find it too much hassle and just leave the drippers at home. For portable you want a tank, and if you want better clouds that tank can't have mini in the title IMO. I'd look for a good dual coil. Either store bought coils or if you're feeling adventurous look into rebuildables. They are much cheaper in the long run. I say dual coils because your vapor production is related to the surface area of the coils and how much wick they are in contact with. The Kanger Subtank might be a good option. You can buy coils for it to start but it also comes with the option to build your own at some point in the future. Well, that's my . Keep Calm and Vape On.

upgraded when old rig broke. im clearly in the minority.... when i upgraded i got a sigelei100, RDA, RDTA, and RTA... i also threw in an egoC twist for portability and a mech for comparison. The ego and mech were $30 combined, so, it didnt really add much damage and gave me options.

Started off with those ego batteries with a Vivi nova or a pro tank. Used it for about a year before picking up mechs . Finally picked up a Sigelei box late last year after using my mechs for a couple of months. I tend to buy things only when I need to lol.

Hi friend,

I changed mods @ 4 months time.
The B&M sold me passthru batteries. One of 'em ruined my best computer.

They lasted a bit over a month. Just to be out of warranty.
They did me "the favor" of charging me just 16 bucks (supposedly their cost) a pop.

Frankly, # 1- I didn't know better. # The owner (or wife of the owner) is SO HOT!!!
that my trip was always a pleasure.

Then FT appeared in the pic. The rest is history.

I think upgrade was a bi-weekly event in my life. Don't ask me why as it just seemed to happen. LOL I am downsizing now and gave away five full systems, chargers and a host of other things this past weekend. Do not plan on replacing them which puts me down to about 20 backups now. For toppers I only have rebuildable now. So that is the end of buying coils. After a year of vaping I decided to cheapen things down with all DIY vape related. I smoked over 40 years so I did not care what it cost me but savings begins now. CHEERS!

I never stopped upgrading until I reached rebuildable tanks. Now my purchases are more based on what I don't have one of yet rather than "upgrading", as I have been using my Lemos consistently since I got them. Still nice to play around with other designs, recently picked up a Silverplay which is awesome, now just waiting on a couple quartz kits from slowtech.

About 6 days..lol but seriously. I received my halo g6 starter kit a week ago and yesterday after getting some nice vape mail of juices I couldn't ignore tthe fact that I wasn't having the experience that I wanted. One of the primary reasons for me trying to give vaping a chance was the juice side of things.

So last night after researching for almost 10 hours and comparing I decided to go with the itaste mvp 3 and a couple of tanks. I wondered if I'm moving too fast, but the reality is if I'm not getting the enjoyment I want out of my hardware then aren't I missing the point?

It took me about two weeks to figure out that those eGo-T atomizers (the latest & greatest at the time) weren't such a good idea.
Switched to dripping with a LR 510 atomizer, and have never looked back.

They don't even make my old favorite 510 atomizer anymore, so now I mainly use RDAs.

I knew I needed to upgrade within days of starting with my ego because I wasn't getting my nic fix. If I had started with something like the mvp2 I upgraded to it probably wouldn't have moved so fast. But within no time (less than a month) I had my IPV2 and a k100 and dripper.

Still using my IPV2 (mostly with subtanks) and have upgraded rdas a couple times and changed mechs a few times as well (using a Dimitri now).

All this within 4 months and I'm sadly wanting a more powerful (100W+ regulated mod)

From Dec-Mar, purchased more e-liquids than Carter has liver pills (well, not quite), but! I haven't touched an analogue since 01 Dec 2014, so all is good, very good.
