I started off with a sigelei zmax v5 and nautilus. A month later bought a magneto and igo-w. A month after that a sigelei 150 and magma. I've been very happy with the magma and sigelei 150 for about 2 months now.

Edit: Just want to add that I tried diy juice and then found Nicoticket and I can't make anything comparable so now all my diy stuff just sits there. A bit of a bummer but damn I love Nicoticket.

I started back in the day with a regular old eGo (no twists back then) and a 510 atomizer. Used them happily for 15 months. Then I bought a REO and cartomizers. Then a couple more REOs. Then a Provari and a couple of carto tanks. Then a VV REO. Then rebuildables started coming on strong and I took the plunge with a Penelope when they first came out, then I got in on the original Chalice run.

Then......I lost my mind. Tube mods out the wazoo, Ithakas, eGo twists, more Penelopes, Kayfuns, RM2s, more REOs and extra parts for all. LP REO? I'm in and let's throw in a couple of BF cyclones while I'm at it. I'm not even getting in to the drip tips. Happily I have no interest in the VW craze going on now and am 100% satisfied with mechs and rebuildables.

DIY? I'm game. Lots of up front expense there but once I got it nailed down juice expense plummeted.

Looking back it was a lot of expense. And I'm definitely in the red cash flow wise, even backing out what I would have spent on cigarettes. But that's mostly because they're super cheap here. On the flip side though I'm a self-sufficient vaper at this point and can weather whatever storms come my way. Stock shortages, government interference, etc. Learned massive amounts of information and new skills, had a lot of fun in the process and I haven't had a cigarette in 4 1/2 years.

My journey basically went like this:

V2 cig-alikes in December 2012 (these probably still work, but they weren't satisfying me after a while)
ego-C Twists sometime between January and March 2013 (both died within 6 months)
Innokin SVD in late spring/early summer 2013 (died before the end of that year)
Innokin MVP 2.0 around December 2013
Provari around January 2014

I don't love my Provari because it's "nice," or expensive, or whatever. I love it because it works. The same goes for my MVP. (Plus both of those things have taken beatings and are still working great) If you find something you like, I say stick with it until it gives out or you get tired of it. There's no reason to spend more money on things you might like if what you have is satisfying you, in my opinion.

I think the upgrade bug hits all of us at one time or another. What to upgrade to really depends on one thing. Do you intend to keep vaping or is this a mechanism to quit smoking and then nicotine altogether? If you intend to keep vaping, then get all the stuff you like. If you intend to put it all down one day, then I would fight the urge to buy new stuff as it will all become useless one day soon enough.

I decided to upgrade from my starter EGO1100mah and Mini PT3, to a Mech or Reg mod and RBA, Prior to purchasing my first EGO/protank starter kit. I just held off on BUYING the upgrade stuff, till I had a working idea of what the term, "upgrade" meant in my case. Started vape in July 2014, Upgraded in November of 2014.

I found that "UPGRADE" for me meant. The ability to vape at approx the same power level over the run-time of a batt.. I decided this because my most satisfying vapage with the starter was when the battery was FRESHLY charged (4.2 volts), till it got down to about 3.7 volts, when using a 1.8-2 ohm single vertical coil.

The Upgrade I did was a Mech Clone and a Kick module VW 5-12watts and Kayfun tank. I run it in the 7-10 watt range and still build the Kayfun in the 1.6-2ohm range. Except when I mount the protank, which though built with basically the same coil as the Kayfun, CAN NOT be run at same wattage as the Kayfun. IF both are built @ 2ohm, the Kayfun can run any wattage from 5-12, but the Protank is burny above 8 watts. The difference being chamber size and wicking I believe.

Started with a cheap aspire and battery set from a local store, clones as I know now. What a crap !
After a few days not satisfying anymore, heavy smoker before, so it just would'nt do......Emow Mega set, two of them. Made me quite happy and made me stop smoking completely in 5 days.
Aspire Nautilus, a few of them, liked the taste and the looks, a Vamo 6 which offered me a new vaping experience. More power is just more:laugh:

Vamo 6 was Xmas, with the first Nautilus.....Since then, dear me... started making my own liqiuds... bought the first rba, FeV V3, then AquaV2, another 2 FeV V3s and now going for Tayfun GT 2.Vamo 6 Mukey, 2 Cloupor Mini also joined the family.

Looking at it from the beginning in early November, severe shinyitis caused by the hunt for better vape and taste. And communities like this one.German version is just as bad when it comes to getting to know new devices and stuff. But...all just happened eventually, felt like it and really enjoyed it and think I'm recovering:toast:

Still, no fags!!! That's the best part.....and still saved more than 1000€ compared to smoking.

Andria:

Is your Kayfun a clone or the real deal? I'm asking because I'm seriously thinking of forking out the $200 plus Canadian on an authentic unit, but I've heard so many good things about the quality and performance of the Infinite Kayfun V4 clone ($26.00). I want to experience the flavour and quality of the original, but if the clone is equal to the task, I feel a bit foolish spending the extra money.

Peter

All of mine are clones; 2 tobecos and 1 ehpro. I don't have the new v4 though, as I heard that it might be a good deal airier than the KFL+, which I would dislike intensely.

As for the quality of the clones, it's hard to say which is best, really; I was madly in love with my Tobecos, but found the ehpro KFL+ for $25 at sweet-vapes.com, so I decided to give it a shot. The threads on the ehpro are harder to deal with -- using the segmented steel/plastic/steel tank, it's very hard to get the base off without loosening the bottom steel segment, though I never had that problem with my tobecos. Also, the tobecos allow me to adjust the screw in the 510 connector up or down without loosening the coil base; with the ehpro, if I try to adjust the height/length of that screw, it loosens the coil base, which mucks up the resistance. The ehpro seems heavier, which might mean higher-quality steel, but with the other concerns, I think I still prefer my tobecos.

Oh also -- the chimney is longer/taller in the ehpro, than in the tobecos; this might mean better "sealing" of the chamber, but I just find it tedious when I'm trying to put the tank onto the base; it definitely means that the parts are not interchangeable, so I'm glad that I got the gold-colored ehpro, to keep all its parts separate from the tobeco parts (though the chimney is just steel-colored on both -- the ehpro seems a duller finish, whereas the chimney on the tobecos is quite shiny).

Well here is how my progression worked.

July: Started with Vuse while still smoking. Also tried greensmoke.

September: Got an Itaste VV with a Kanger Aerotank Mini from a kind women on the forum here. Only had 1 analog after that. Had it 2 weeks later. Hated the taste.

February: Got a Kanger Sub-tank Mini. I really like it a lot.

Now in January I got a Stingray Clone with a good dripper addy as a late Christmas gift. But I haven't used it yet. I need to get a charger for the batteries and need to make a wick for it. It has a good coil on it. The friend who gave it to me, it used to be theirs.

That's great. Thank you for the info, Andria. For $27.00 its worth trying out the clone.

Cheers,

Peter

I am satisfied with the setup I have, which is pretty much the same as the 'starter-kit' I started with. I have 3 eGo batteries (2 650's and a 900) and a bakers half dozen of plastic clearo's, with one of them lasting at least 1 1/2 maybe 2 months or so. I do have my eye on a couple different tanks, I guess I want to know the difference between bottom coils and top coils (the clearo's I use now..), but basically I just want something new and different..

Yes, it is airier than the kfl. When the air adjustment screw is wide open. Adjustable.

Now go get yourself one Andria. $21
    :) :)

I'm not sure I really like how they look, kinda bulgy. I really like my KFL+'s; if I get anymore tanks, I'll probably just get another of those, maybe a black one if I ever get a black mod. But I've got 3 KFL+'s already, and a Magma; the only atty I'm currently considering is a Veritas clone.

But we just got our state refund, so tomorrow... A NEW COMPUTER!!!! I need that a great deal worse than I need any vaping hardware right now. :D I've spent this evening completely cleaning my entire desk, so I have someplace to set my new laptop tomorrow, to xfer all the data from the old box.

And yes, I've been doing this ever since I saw the direct deposit this afternoon:

Hey sorry if there's a thread for this already but I was just wondering when you guys first bought your good set up, how long did it take you to decide that you wanted to upgrade? I started in the end of December of last year and the last two times when I went to the local shop by me that I go to all the time to pick up some things, the first time the worker there asked me what I was using and I told him my 20 w istick with a nautilus mini and then he told me that I should upgrade. I asked him some suggestions and told him that I don't understand anything about building my own and he tells me that they would take care of everything for me and explain things if I needed help. I then thanked him and left.

Tonight I went back to pick up some juices and I saw the guy who first helped me buy my vape at their place and he asked me if I was still using the same set up. I told him that ya I was still using the same thing. I'm just wondering if it took you guys a while to upgrade or did you guys want to upgrade after a couple of months?

Listen, what you are using is exactly what I've up graded to, and am pleased...no...VERY pleased with what I'm using. I blow through 3-5ml each day after chain smoking for 40 years. My theory is if it ain't broke, don't fix it :2c:

I started with the blu back in March 2014, then I went to the G2, then in a matter of 6 months I went to a kamery, a ego twist, a vision spinner, a MVP, a Hanna mod clone,, the Culopur box Mod. Then went to the nemesis mechanical mod , then I got the IPV2 75 watt box mod then got what I have now, the IPV3 150 watt box mod. I've been building coils since the Hannah mod. Next month will be my full year smoke free. So in one year I've went through 10 units. I'm at 11 months smoke free so that's almost a unit a month. Now I'm happy with my unit. It does what I want. I can high wattage vape and sub ohm vape down to a very low ohm. It runs my RBAS wonderfully and takes two 18650 batteries so battery life is wonderful! I get three full days without charging even heavy vaping and sub ohm vaping. So pretty much all my needs are finally met now. I progressed quite quickly. But everyone is different. I say if your needs are met, why change. It took me a while to meet the needs I had but I finally have. If your happy where your at, no reason to change. However if your not happy, then by all means change until you are. Best wishes
