within my own thoughts....
Ok, i'm seriously doing research on rebuilding the 1.8 BVC coils on my nautilus mini. I seen a video by Rip Trippers where he showed how and it looked fairly easy. However, i really don't want to go purchasing all the items it takes to rebuild, if they don't last that long.

So i'm turning to all you fine folks out there to see how long your rebuildable atty's last you? Now i'm not talking about the sub-ohm coils you build, but just those who rebuild from the BVC coils?

Lastly, if you have an informative & easy video you would like to suggest to me, i would love that!

Thanks a bunch!

takes too much effort and time to rebuild a disposable coil..... get a Kayfun of an Aqua V2.... the coil can last several weeks, the wick life depends on juice and quantity of vaping... 2-3 days and even up to 2 weeks on a 1-2 ohm coil in the 8-12W range Ive had coils/wicks last 2 weeks on VG and nic base ( non flavored) in my RSST

condensing all info down into what i rebuild

kanger heads: the coils lasts 2 months tops, i rewick them every 4-5 days
RTAs:, i rewick them every other day, coils last 3~ weeks
RDAs: i rewick daily, coils last 3~ weeks

a coil lasting two months would definitely be something i'm interested in!! Wow! I was looking into the kanger tank, but it just seemed easier (from the video i watched) to rebuild the BVC on the mini. However, that's why i wanted to ask first....so maybe kanger is the way to go?!!

Bunnykiller, i haven't heard of that brand...but i'm still such a noob...it's not surprising! lol Thank you and i'll check it out!

Using the same 2 spools of kanthal bought almost 2 years ago. Bought a box of rayon that will last me probably rest of my life! Total investment, maybe $20. Time to wrap a coil, 3 minutes. Time to rewick, 3 minutes. Rewick every 3-4 days, often sooner when I'm changing up juice flavors. No idea how long a coil will last, I slap a new one on long before it needs it with a different Ω build. Would never buy another atomizer that isn't rebuildable, not only for cost reasons, but quality, variety of tuning, top flavor, max vape, in what - 6 minutes? Tiny price & time to invest for the best vape possible imho.

klynnn, thanks for the link to the video....will watch it shortly! :)

Light Seeker, so i'm guessing you do rebuild the aspire BVC's? I'm amazed at the price difference and how cheap rebuilding is, by your estimations that would save me a ton of money!! Yeah, i can't afford buying these coils any longer when half of them don't even work properly...especially since once i learn to rebuild like you have, i'll end up with a better vape anyways. HUGE plus! Curious what gage of kanthal you use...29?

The square OCC coil heads that come with the Subtanks are really easy to build, every type of tank I use I rebuild and purposely buy them for that such as the Kayfuns, Kanger evods,Subtanks etc. The cost of the supplies are cheap and it doesnt really take that long to do, plus I can build them for my own vape style. Rebuilding saves me money that I can use to buy juice or more mods, like I need anymore!

Curious, doesn't the Kanger Subtank coils work well for those who are into sub ohms? I think i read somewhere that their coils are lower ohms or rather lower than the 1.8's that i'm looking to rebuild. Maybe i'm incorrect in thinking that, i just didn't know rebuilding those could be done on a higher ohm coil?

Sorry Jovey, I don't have Aspire. Like I mentioned, rebuildable is prime importance to me in atomizer selection, the Aspire is a very good tank, but truly designed for replacables. I have a selection of different drippers, different genesis style tanks, & quite a few kayfuns with a Lemo & erl clone coming from China in the vapemail.
Rebuildable is very cheap, same as diy juice ... And neither is rocket science nor requires voodoo & magic (well, genesis tanks with foil wicks do require some voodoo sometimes [emoji1] ). Fyi, I use 28g kanthal 99% of the time.

I haven't been doing this long, but I figured out how to tell when I need a new wick, the signs are pretty obvious. But how do you know when the coil needs replacing?

If you do a dry burn to burn off any residue before you rewick the coil they can last for months before needing to be replaced. They don't need to be replaced until they snap & as a rule I've always seen the break when doing a rewicking/ dry burn.

^^^ that, and after so many dry burns - my coils no longer "return to silver" after a dry burn, they start turning a light rusty color.

I rebuild my Nautilus coils, but I smoke primarily taifuns now. Going to order a kayfun v4. The Nautilus coils, all day vaping last me 5 days or so, but now i only smoke it out of the house so they last me longer. It's cost effective and not very time consuming. But I still prefer a rebuildable, its more flavor and easier to work with.

I mainly use Kayfuns but I do rebuild Protank coils to use with my more corrosive juices. I usually rebuild ten at a time and only have to rebuild those 10 every 6 months or so.

I rebuild my 5 Kayfuns on the last Sunday of the month. Even if they haven't died....never had one die on me....To me coils do loose their "Ommmph." after time. And it only takes me 30 minutes to rebuild all 5.
